We had received the same phone call today,it is totally a prank!!
This number called and saud our utilities were to be cut off if we didnt pay so we hung up and called the actual utility company to verify.
We were notified that scammers have been calling utility customers in Colorado Springs and advising them that if they don't make an immediate payment through a pre-paid debit card, their services will be disconnected. The scammers were asking Customers to purchase a pre-paid debit card and provide the number back to them. This is a very common utilities scam and no utility company would ever demand this type of payment. When in doubt about a call or demand, hang up and call the Customer Service Center for your particular Utility Company and confirm the legitimacy of the call before ever purchasing/providing a pre-paid debit card #.
