I too got a response from this traveling marine biologist who was very vague in texting, told him this transaction was too much work, never heard from him again, then Charlotte shelton, works for a diabetes foundation (supposedly) with a similar scam. what happens is they transfer money to you pick up the merchandise, file a "no merchandise" claim with PayPal. pay pal gets their money back and yo're out of luck. no merchandise, no money!
Be sure all sales are face to face cash only!

I got Scott Bill to give me a name I could put on the title to send him and his name is Scott Gabriel.
Also I text him back saying, "By the way, your neighbor is sleeping with your wife" Ha Ha!!

I got the same guy inquiring about a car on craigslist I listed. Same name and story as others have recieved since listing a vehicle. I will give him the FBI scammers e-mail as my paypal account number also. WATCH FOR SCAMS!!  His e-mail is scottbill07@gmail.com so feel free to send him a message

I just recieved textes from this "marine biologist" trying to get a pay pal account.. people must be dumb to fall for this.

Same guy txt my husband this afternoon. Marine biologist out at sea wants to buy our truck for his wife.

Saw your message about the scammer, after I googled the same number that texted me, on my car for sale on Craig's List. Thanks to everyone that posts.... I think that they are starting to make some kind of a dent in THIER day. I wonder why the networks don't feature a constant ..."public service warning" of some kind to protect people, especially the elderly who are vulnerable targets.         Jim. Me. :)a7N

My shop-neighbor just listed a vehicle on CraigsList & got the same bull. He gave his name as Bill Scott, who actually does live in Peyton, Colorado. Have informed the neighbor of all reports; she called (forgetting it said text or e-mail) and got a Google Answer voice mail.

Yes...same deal here.  Marine biologist, I dont think so he isnt smart enough!  I think that is a great idea someone previously had, I will give him FBI scam email address as my paypal account.  What an idiot!

Likewise today, just responded  by email that vehicle was still available.    Glad to know this is a scam.

May 6, 2013.  Same here.  This guy is a lousy scam artist.   While trying to sell my Harley motorcycle on Craigslist, this guy contacted me and got my phone number.  Following this he sent a myriad of text messages saying he was a marine biologist out at sea -- even though his telephone area code is for Colorado Springs! -- who wanted to get a gift for DAD but could not use the phone.  After this came phony ebay confirmations, etc. The name of the game is for you to send him money via Western Union (in my case, for vehicle transport).

I just got the same text message. Hope nobody falls for this crap!

Received a Txt from this number inquiring about a vehicle I have for sale on Craigslist.
It is a scam let him know he has been reported.

I got the same deal from this A@#H*&% at 2:34 am. Inquiring about the truck I listed early today. Thaks for you guy's that posted this scam. I didn't reconize the zip , so just got up and looked it up in the search engine!!

con artist.  want to get back at him? create  an ad on craigslist and list his number. thatll show the effer.

Yup. Same deal here. Listed a car on CraigsList. Requested callers M-F 9-5 and received a text from this # @ 3am. This time he was a marine biologist off shore & unable to talk, but was buying the car for Dad sight-unseen and agreed to pay full price by PayPal. Just give him the PayPal address. That was enough for me to see a scam. Don't fall for this garbage. Accept CASH ONLY and meet with the guy who's buying the vehicle.

I got the exact same text within a couple of hours of posting my vehicle for sale.

I have a vehicle list on cragis list and had this number text me saying he was looking for a car for his dad. He made it sound as if he was in the miliatary, and would be having an agent come and pick it up and said he sent the money but we had already talk to paypal and found out it could be a scam.

I got a similar text regarding a car I have for sale asking me for my Paypal email...so this is a scam.

I have 2 vehicles listed for sale right now on craigs list.  I got texts from this person on both cars within minutes of each other.  Definite scam.  Be aware.
