I got a text message from this number and a person claiming to be Sarah Raid. The first message simply asked me to confirm that the item that I was selling on craigslist was still for sale. I responded yes and the next day I got three emails saying that she was in the Air Force, deployed, and she was buying the motorcycle for a friend. She wanted to pay for it using paypal and have the movers pick it up to take to her friend. SCAM ALERT! I sent a text back saying that I would not deal through paypal and haven't heard back yet.

Yup - CL scammer indeed.

same scam, military women wanting to buy motorcycle for her father for fathers day, was urgent to get the transaction moving.  wanted pay pal account so she could get this done fast.  Looked up this 720-235-8061 number and found this info.  Thanks for the posts, just saved me.

I received a text from this # (720-235-8061) who identified herself as Sarah Raid. Wanted my phone # and email address . Said" kindly confirm if your listed item is still for sale.
  I never replied due to the text message due to the reports here. The phone # is registered as a telemarketer in Denver Colorado. I live near Dallas Tx. BEWARE!

Just got a similar text message for an RV I listed yesterday on Craigslist.  The texter said her name was Sarah Raid who wanted to buy the RV for her father.  She said she was a captain in the Air Force & couldn't come see the RV herself but would have someone pick it up.  She asked for the email address assoicated with my PayPal account.  Thanks to all of you for giving us a heads up!!!

Yup, same thing as everybody else -- she is now using the name Sarah Raid and says she is in AF, cannot actually come look at  the RV that she wants to buy through Paypal as a surprise for her father who lives in Ohio and she will have a mover pick it up, blah, blah, blah.  SO GLAD I researched the number and found out - like all of you - that it is a SCAM !!!  I texted her that she is a scam and that I'm reporting her to police and Paypal. I'm also having the number blocked from my cell phone. THANKS, everyone!

I also got a response from this number today about buying the motorcycle for his dad in Washington, but he is deployed in the Air Force  and would arrange for pick up??? then asked if we had a Paypal account? So my husband looked up the number and saw all these posts! Sad now this person is using the military as his reason!

He texted me too in response to a dirt bike I listed on craigs list. Claimed to be deployed as a command master chief sergeant in the airforce wanting to buy for his dad as a surprise gift in Washington. Said he would arrange movers to pick up bike and wanted my paypal email. Sounded like a scam to me and after reading the above comments I know it was.

Well I guess the south is open to these people, I just had a text, from someone in the Air Force wanting to but a bike for his dad, via Pay Pal, now I will always be afraid of Pay Pal, hope they catch this person/person's

yep~ thank you guys... same number replied to 'car for sale' ad in craig's list, Hawaii... wanted to buy it for his dad's birthday and pay by pay pal~ says he's posted in the military and will have someone else pick it up~ says he's in Michigan... Clearly he should be behind bars :) Kind of over crazy people...  Does anyone catch these crazy guys?

Well now it's the Valentines day gift for dear old dad hope my kids take care of me like he does his dad. Lol must be real proud parents. Can't stand a cl scammer they tic me off to no end. However his plane must still be flying high because he told me he was a pilot as well.....

I am so glad I researched this fishy text regarding a craigslist post.  It is a scam!  Do not reply.

Don't pay any attention to this phone number.  He tried to pull the same b***s*** on me. He said he was a pilot, buying my guitar for his dad, and wanted my paypal account number.  I told him to go Pound Salt!!!  He never replied back so I guess his plane crashed.  Serves him right.....he should never be texting and piloting an aircraft.  LOL

Text message from this number which is located in Denver, CO inquiring about a vehicle for sale in Los Angeles (why?).

This number contacted us the first time at 5:45am out time and right away I knew it was not a good thing... Saying he was a pilot and wanted to buy the truck we had for sale for his dad for his birthday... And wanted our email address. Right away I told him I had some questions like when he is gonna pick up the truck and info for title transfer... He replied he would send his "agent"... Hahahaha needless to say I let him know he was a crook and to stop texting us that he had been caught...

I just dealt with the same number, which was probably 'spoofed,' and noticed some things:

1- The first text came in at 12:30 am - my time - which was probably daytime in [his] time zone.

2-  The first text used the specific description I put in the Craigslist ad title.  Subsequent texts only referred to the "Craigslist item," as if they were mass texts to see who would respond.

3- The English was good but certainly not perfect and had a kind of sing-song feel to it.

Otherwise, it was much as described in other posts.
