Call Received from Readers Source. They wanted me to renew some magazine subscriptions at $2.99 each (for 3) PER WEEK! I thought I was hearing things and asked the woman, "you want me to pay over $450 a yr for 3 subscriptions? Are you f'n kidding me?" I told her to cancel the mags, and she told me I would be removed from their database and she hung up on me. When I called the number back I got a message stating "my call could not be completed as dialed". Total scam... BEWARE

These people(TWZ/NSS magazine) call in regards to a subscription offered in return from taking a survey through bizrate.com. if you call (877)813-0001 an automated message comes on and then you can cancel your subscriptions and the calls stop.

They've been calling so finally I just answered and pretended to speak spanish for a while. When they transfered me to a spanish speaker I explained to her in my best spanish that I no longer had a credit card or bank. She said gracias and hung up. We'll see if that does it!

Several calls from 720-263-4512. Wanted to know information. We have ordered Maxim magazine and we canceled our subscription. We are upset about the magazine obviously selling our information.

These people threatened me because I asked them not to call anymore. My phone company told me to file a police report, which I have and that way they can trace the call.

THese people are driving me nuts. They don't realize that I have already contacted my bank and they have a fraud alert on them. How do we get them to stop calling.

These people called me and told me that I had signed up to receive five magazines for $2.99 each week for 60 months. They claimed to be calling to give me a verification code so that no other magazine sales companies could attempt to double me up and charge me for a magazine I was already receiving. They could not tell me when my account was created or which magazines I was receiving (because I'm not). Her best guess was Cosmo - I told her that, as a 30-year old male, I certainly didn't have a Cosmo subscription. She hung up abruptly. I am sure that, had I not questioned her repeatedly about the account, she would have asked for my credit card to verify the account info. DON'T DO IT!

These people keep calling me to collect for a magazine that I never ordered, claiming that I had started making payments. I didn't order the magazine, never paid anyone a dime and have e-mailed the magazine and told them to stop sending it because I never ordered it. The magazine stopped being delivered but the calls keep on coming.

This number is tied directly to 303-975-8858, which also has a long history of people complaining about magazine and collections scams.
Folks, I highly recommend you all go directly to the Federal Trade Commission first because this scam crosses state lines which means you need a federal agency to protect yourselves.
Then, go immediately to your local news station and find the investigative reporter that specializes in scams of any sort. Just about every news agency will have alteast one. The last thing these scammers want is to see themselves on television.
This scam hit my brother-in-law and has been going on for a ridiculous length of time. Somehow these buggars got his mother's phone and have been harrassing her, too. Everytime she demands to speak to a manager, she gets put on hold then disconnected.

Hi,
I have received 5 phone calls on my cell phone today from these people asking to speak to my daughter. The caller said my daughter ordered magazines from them and that she was with the collection department and needed our address so they could deliver the Magazines. I asked why the collection department was calling if they were trying to deliver magazines. She replied "how old is your daughter" when I said she was 23 she replied that she could't speak to me as my daughter was of legal age. So I told them to not call me again we didn't want any magazines. The caller called again minutes later, when I answered she called me a bi*** and hung up quickly before I could reply.

They call regularly. We ARE on DNC list. They asked for me by my first name. I said I wasn't there. They promptly hung up. I tried calling right back, a recording said the number is not in service. Was immediately followed by a similar call from "Denver" with the same routine. This time I had the forethought to say they had the wrong number. Maybe it will stop now.

I live in Houston and have had them calling from that # every night. They are calling me by my first name also. They tell me to stop paying $2.99 a week for magazines and that they will extend my issues...I told them that if I buy a subscription,I do it in one lump payment and they hang up. I called my AT&T customer support and they sayed to go to donotcall.gov and make a complaint. I wanted to see if I could block the # and they said no.

I have had the same problems as all of you. First they call my number and ask for my husband. I told them they had the wrong number and not to call back but yet they call at least once a day if not more. I will today report them to the BBB and FTC and get this stopped once and for all. Hopefully all of us will have a little peace.

My experience is the same. I have been getting all sorts of magazines I never ordered and am on the no call list.
Their number is on my caller ID all the time. I live in Connecticut.

I get multiple calls from this number, or from an "unknown number," always asking for me by my first name. They always just want to verify the information, and then there's a manager that will call me back. After the first time, I asked for the manager first, and they always hang up on me.
I also got a call a few days ago from someone claiming to work for a company that made some sort of mistake, and he was going to take me off the list for 250 different branches of this (but presumably, not all of them, as they're still calling). It's beyond annoying, and I'm trying to figure out what to do about it.

I get a call from this company almost every other day. I have constantly told them that the person they are looking for does not live here and they even have the wrong address. The last couple times I've tried to get a phone number to call back they've rudely commented saying 'Yea, I'll get right on that!" and hung up. They are a magazine company...supposedly. I am also on the do not call list, this is the only telemarketer I have had trouble with since being put on the list.
