Same as what the others recieved.  I only responded because I saw the Colorado area code and am from there, so I though it might be someone I knew but didn't have saved (though unlikely).  My roommates wanted me to text back "steve" because we thought it was a creeper trying to meet girls.

got a text from this phone number and the same thing happend..
john: hi
me:hi.. who is this?
john: no reply...
this really is creeping me out since my husband joe got messages from this man and warned me about this... so i looked it up and well hes probably a pervert or lonely kid or something.. im kinda scared if he knows how to find out where we live... ok anyways to my husbands texts with john....

earlier this week my husband got the same text from this man.. he said hi
husband: hi who is this?
john: my names is john. whats your name?
husband: julie( gave fake name because he was creeped out)
john: well nice to meet you. I just thought of ur number. do u want to text?
husband: not really. kinda creepy dude!
john: ok, well sorry to bother, have a great day.

well anyways just thought we would leave a comment about this man and try to help people be aware... be safe and dont meet this guy especially woman because it seems he talks to more women then men.. anyways i think i might report this guy if me messages me again never know he could be a rapist or something...

i txt him back and told him to b low me.

received a text today from a John. saying "hi" I asked who he was looking for.  He said "whoever"

I just got a text saying "hi" so I said who's this and and he responded "john, whats your name". I asked who he wanted to reach and he said "whoever". Then I remembered this website and I'm glad I did. I wont respond to this number again.

I also got a text from this "John" guy. I've had random people text me before, but never had someone who had texted so many people...creepy.

J: Hi
Me: Hey...who is this?
J: John, whats your name?
Me: Christina...do I know you?
J: Well nice to meet you, I Just thought of your number. Do you want to text?
M: So you just came up with a random number to text?
J:Yeah
M: Do you do that a lot?
J: Not really just when i ger bored i'll send out a few numbers.
M:...ok. Thats kinda weird...why?
J: Why-because I've had a good response in the past.
M: You don't even know who your talking to. why not go out to a bar and meet people that way
no response.

text message said "hi" i text back hi, he said hows your day going? I said its going, who is this? He replied back, john, what is your name? I said I wasnt in high school i dont play games, he said neither am i, so i text back and said, you text me and i dont know a john, he text back ok...... I have heard of people being bored, but wow, I guess some ust have no life!!!

I received a "HI" text and responded with "who is this." I received a text back saying "this is John, what's your name?"  I responded "this is Jeff. What do you want."  I received a response "Well sorry to bother, have a good day."

got a txt from this nigga today. i say we find out where he lives and kick the s**t out of this creeper. he's been doin this for over a year. gross.

I received received a text message saying "Hi."  I did not reply because of what CJ wrote.

got a messasge from this number yesterday.  after a breif conversation back and forth, John told me he's texting rendomly to meet new people.  i told him i am reporting him to the police.

I got the same call today that you all have - says exactly the same as yours did but he said his last name was Smith.

Got the same random text say Hi. I asked who it was, he said John and asked my name. Told him Scott. He replied with oh sorry I must have mis-dialed the number. I think its totally weird that there are this many comments on this.

Still have my Colorado cell number and got a text from this number that just said "Hi." I searched for the number and found this page and decided not to respond.

this loser just text me the same: "hi"
I replied "who is this"
He replied "john, what's your name?"

I did not respond - what a creepy loser.

Same story text just read, Hi. Someone needs to be tracked down and have the facts of life explained to them if you get my drift.

WTF??  Who the heck is this guy and why is he doing this to so many people?  How in the world is he finding all of our numbers?  Weird part is, I don't even have a colorado number.  How did he find me?  What can we all do about this?  Does anyone have an idea on how to set him up or something?  This needs to stop!!!

Got a Hi text as well, I asked who it was and after about 45 minutes he said John, what's your name?...I have not responded after reading all these posts...perhaps it is just some lonely person with below average intelligence or severe social disorder...either way this person probably needs some sort of psychological problem.

Got a text from this creeper today... Make sure u don't text back. U never kno y he is doin this!!!

I also got a message from this person. I live in CO and it is a CO area code. The convo was:

John: Hi.
ssg: Who is this?
John: John, what's your name?
ssg: Do I know you?
John: Well sorry to bother, you have a good day.
ssg: Why are you texting me?
John: -no response-

I did a reverse search on the number and all I found was that the provider is 'Teleport Communications' aka AT&T. Weird that we are all getting these messages...

Texted a "Hi" message, asked who it was, and he just texted me back:  "John.  What's your name?"  Asked him to cease & desist or I'll report him.

received the same text from a guy identifying himself as John, reported him to police

Got a text message saying "hi". I din't reply either.

Received the same message. Didn't reply. Some people have too much time!

Receive same text but a "*Flannigan*" after it.  Did not respond.  What's weird is when you do a reverse search on the number, it comes up as a land line.

I got a "Hi *Flannigan* from this number.  Didn't call or reply.  Almost certainly some scam going on here.

This number texted me:

Then I said
Who is this?
*Flannigan*
John, what's your name?
*Flannigan*
Then I told him a fake name and he did not respond.

John, what's your name?
*Flannigan*

I received the same Hi "Flanigan" message today as well, but won't respond after reading these comments here.  Txting costs too much.
