They called acting like they knew me. They were all casual. When I asked who they were they said they were trying to send me letters. When I asked about what they were vague. They he wanted confirm my address which. Was in some suburb half hour away. Then he asked if I was Larry Lyles.. That's not my last name. Then he said wrong person and hung up.

They just called my dad's cell, too. I don't know why; he doesn't have any outstanding loans. Good to know they're scammers.

Yep ... sounds about right. Eventually the prinicipal is around 1/3 of the "duly owed amount", with the other 2/3 being ... interest and tacked-on "legitimate" charges (e.g., the $10K "transfer fee" mentioned in the above post).

This is true. I paid and they keep selling
my loans. F*** THEM AND DON'T ANSWER.

They keep calling and hanging up, there's never nayone on the other end. I've tried calling back and the phone always rings busy. I'm sure they're auto dialing numbers and then auto hanging up as a means to harass. Does absolutely no good to report on do not call listing as they're exempt via federal laws as they hide under a collection agency loophole.

They called me at work and had an old cell phone number for me. When I asked who it was they said they couldn't tell me that but needed my personal information. I gave them my current cell phone and told them I could not speak at work. I was suspicious but then they called my cell and told my husband they would have told me who they were if I would have asked. This was an out right lie so when they called back I confronted them about it and wanted them to stop calling and that I knew they were a scam for student loan holders. They started calling on private numbers after that and were unprofessionally aggresive. Twice I answered the phone, put them on speaker and told the people around me who they were, and more or less made fun of them for trying to continue to run a scam on me. They haven't called back since. BE CAREFUL, they do not really hold your student loan payment!!!

Answer: Dont speak to them and they can do nothing.

Student loan from 1979 I never took out a loan. The only way I pay that they will have to show me signing a contract at 8 years old because, that is how old I was in 1979.

What happens is, after you've faithfully made several payments on your student loan, your note is sold to an agency. Not because you're in default or you're late, they just sell it. The agency adds a $10K "transfer fee" to the principal of your note. And there's usually no way to communicate with them (try calling 720-529-9904, you will NOT get through) other than to smile and pay up. Which you'll do for a few months until THEY sell the note to a NEW agency (for all we know, a different desk in the same office) and add ANOTHER $10K "transfer fee" to the principal of your note.

I did not pick up the phone when I got a call from this number and no one left a message. If they are truly a student loan debt collector, I am not sure whey they would be calling me because I am current an not behind, nor have never been behind, on my student loans.

It's EOCCA a debt company that mostly deals with outstanding student loans

They called my cell today, no message was left. I have no student loans so I am not sure why they would call me.
| Marie 2011-03-28 16:58:11 Unknown |
I did not pick up the phone since I did not recognize the number. They did not leave a message. I have student loans but I pay them regularly so I am not sure why this company would have been calling me.
