And I'll bet a small percentage is all the true organization actually gets from the money donated via these phone calls.

They are valid. FOP  .  They risk their lives for us so people formed this organization for them & the surviving family,  I think its okay they keep calling.  Dont be afraid. tell them they are calling too much.

There is nothing wrong      with giving a small percentage      to the off duty & retired members  who volunteer             their  time      to  call  around for donations to give to this organization.

Yes. They Do Call For Donations.  Then they will send you a donation form in the mail for you to send it through mail.  I have done this. & recieved thank you & confirmation mail back.   No..I do not know how to tell if they are not the FOP(fraternalorderofpolice) .  Important fto understand F O P  is not the police. Thier members are police retired & active ..........They dont represent the police department or speak for them.  They support the police men & women & help the family members who have a policeman or woman  who died in the line of duty  ect...       Call Your Local Police Department for information on how to donate.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Nevada Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there?s information on www.nevadafop.org. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Nevada police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

Just got a call from this number. Very weird, sounded almost automated. Guy asked for my husband, and I said he wasn't home. Then he said "Is someone there? I can't hear you." Then he just said "I'll call back later" then hung up. VERY STRANGE.

i agreed to send them 10 dollars about 10 years ago, they sent me a bumper sticker saying "I <3 Sober Drivers" "Nevada State Trooper Lodge" but i never sent them the money and they would call occasionally so about 5 years later i agreed again and sent the money. Once i send them 10 dollars, they've been calling me about every week for the last 5 years. I don't think its much of a scam, I'm sure some of my money did go to their lodge, but the worst thing you can do is send them anything, because the calls will just get worse.  Also I think they get their calling list from the phone book, because 10 years ago when they first called the only thing linked to my name was the phone book.

That is why it is good to have caller ID. I NEVER answer any call when I don't recognise the number.  Let it go through to voicemail.  At least 90% of those calls are hang-ups.  If I am curious, I check the number on this site. I don't understand why people answer these calls if they have caller ID???????

Telemarketer
Same story today. Guy called claiming to be FOP from 720 area code-"name unavailable" Told him to mail info. He laughed, I hung up. By the way, from local help wanted ads back in the Midwest these guys get 30-35 % commission on any money they raise. Give directly to the FOP if you want, not to these callers.

Got a call a few minutes ago. They asked for me by my first name.  Said they were calling from "Fraternal order of police" and wouldn't keep me on the line for more than 60 seconds, then proceeded to ask me if I wasn't glad we had to police to protect us. I said yes. he then repeated himself and said, he just asked me if i agreed with him? I said "I agree". then he said he couldn't hear me and would call back later and hung up.  The call sounded weired, I did *69 on my phone, called back the number and got a telephone company recording that the call could not be completed like you get when the number is disconnected.  Hoping by saying the "yes" word didn't give them some right to do something to my accounts.
Ususally I just hang up on calls like this.  Kind of worriesome.

1. Never donate over the phone - too many scams - you cannot validate the person calling is legit.

2. Telemarketers calling on behalf of charities keep 85-90% of all donations they generate.  They get more money than the charity!

3. If you wish to donate - do so directly with the charity itself - that way you KNOW where your money is going.  Also tell them to stop using TELEMARKETERS!

4.  If you wish to donate to the Fraternal Order of Police - call your local police dept - they will have legitimate contact info for you.
