The Do Not Call List law is a list of people who don't want telemarketing calls and a law against calling those people. For a scammer its one more law to break.

Woman left message on our answering machine, apparently after not having heard the outgoing message. Said she was calling from SSI (not sure about that, it's what it sounded like she said), claimed she wasn't selling anything, and asked for my wife. Paused. Said hello a few times, and hung up.

A survey company that out source's some guy from God knows where asked for me how ever he could not say my simple name. I made him try to say my name after the 4th try he hung up.

I didn't answer, but they left a voice mail. It was a woman calling in, though due to background noise, I could barely understand a word she was saying. It was not a recording, they addressed me by name, though they mispronounced my first name and addressed me as "Mr." (when I'm a female). She claimed to be with "Edison", yet the caller ID states "SSI"? I don't think I'll be calling this number back.
