got three calls from this number- twice sounded like it was requesting that I accept a credit call. did not answer- why are these calls allowed to go through?

Called me on 9 Sep 11 at 5:07pm.  They hung up right away.  I thought it was my brother so I called the # back 3x's.  Got an answering machine all 3 x's.  It just said hello.  I am on the do not call list.  I do not appreciate getting unwanted ph calls.

Go to the FTC website, FTC.gov, and file a complaint online. Maybe if they get enough reports they'll try to track these morons down.

Its a random scam they have no information until you share it with them...provided you are that stupid.
There is no need to cancel any of your accounts. These people get our phone numbers from our service carriers all the time. They claim they never give out any "personal info" well I see it like this, I pay for the damn number and I request it stay private ..so its my personal info. There is some loop hole in the wording of what is considered our personal info and thats how they get away with sharing just our phone numbers. I get these calls from varying numbers sometimes daily on my cell as well as my home phone which are both supposed to be unlisted numbers..
Don't get your undies in a twist over something that we or you clearly cannot change. Ignore the calls..block them whatever...and do not answer calls from numbers that you do not recognize... a little common sense goes along way here people...use it

Definitely a scam. Called me in Michigan 9/10/11 @ 10:33am on landline. I have also received other calls of credit card lower interest rate scams, see posts on the following numbers: 407-545-9999, 321-304-9999, 702-997-9999, 406-219-2301, 406-219-2378, 406-219-2389, 406-219-2636. The 2301# called me today, I played along and got as far as he wanted to know how much credit limit I had on a visa (no specific info given to him) and when I said I didn't know he pushed. I asked what that had to do with lowering my interest rate and he said I had to: be paying at least 10% in interest on 1+ cards, owe at least $3000 total and have at least $700 of my credit limit available on the "visa" he was going to help me on. I told him I wasn't interested & hung up. I tried to call the number back and it just loops a recorded message in a woman's voice saying " thank you for calling back if you wish to stop receiving calls about our special promotions please press 1, allow 72 hours for it to take effect. " Another site said do not press 1 or they will know you are a valid number. They probably have caller id anyway.

I am on the National Do Not Call list.  So, do not call.

I am as well and they called me also.

I do NOT answer ANY telephone calls.  All my telephone calls, land or cellular, wireline or wireless, go to VoiceMail and I listen to and attend to VoiceMail messages only.

I suggest everyone else start doing the same..."screen" all your telephone calls and you will avoid these frustrations.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone this evening.  I didn't answer, since I never answer unless I recognize the caller name on ID.  This person didn't leave a message and I don't want them to call again!!!

I'm in KY. I  received a call on my cell phone. I too am on the no call list. I did not answer and there wasn't a message.

I just got a call from this number. I didn't pick up and they left NO MESSAGE... They called again, still didn't answer and left no message. Now that i read the comments I'm glad i didn't pick up.

I just got a call on my cell phone from 724-205-4945 that was a credit card advertising refinancing company. They said to push #1 to talk to a representative. I did. A girl named Meghan talked to me. I started to tell her that I did not want these type of advertising calls on my phone. SHE HUNG UP ON ME ! So I turned the company into the "Do Not Call List " My last line of the comments was "Get the b*****ds !"

The same anoying Robo call from Rachel about lowering your CC interest rates.  I hit 1 to get to an operator (to anoy them since they anoy me).  It took 5 series of rings to get to that operator.  I started asking questions, they hung up on me.  Called the # back and Voice mail full.

They called my Verizon Cell Phone #.  Total SCAM!

Just answer with "911 emergency?".  I did this about 3 times and they hung up.

Obviously this is a bunch of jerks. I say we publish the  number on social media and get as many people as we can to call them back ALL AT THE SAME TIME and jam their lines.  OR talk to them  AS LONG AS POSSIBLE giving them bogus information so they cannot bother someone else. If we waste their time as much as they wasted ours, they may get tired of their ignorant behavior.

Thanks for your suggestions. I called AT&T, as you suggested, and the woman I spoke with basically said there is nothing they can do in this case. They cannot confirm that the customer's number is being used for fraudulent purposes and/or another person hasn't hacked (phreaked) the phone number for such use. I informed the woman that I am listed on the federal Do Not Call List (all of my numbers are) and she said I should double check, because I must not be on there. Haha! Sadly, I don't think AT&T cares about the issue at all. I'd be interested to hear if others have the same/different results.
