I originally posted an ad on Craigslist for a cosigner.  I was (am) willing to pay $1,500 for a cosigner for a $15,000 small business loan.  I received a call from a guy with a strange accent who only said "Hi", repeatedly, then hung up. Then he started texting me as follows:

Me: ok. how much is the transfer cost? 5:38 PM

Me: Ok, if that is the only fee then $425 is ok. You can take that out of the proceeds and send me $15,000 - 425 which is $14,575 5:43 PM

Getting calls from this number but then when you call them back you get no one.  VM is full and you can't reach anyone.   What the heck?

Same exact wording I got yesterday about selling a wedding dress. It's now 05/2014 and they are still using the same script. Apparently it's working and that's sad.

Got a text offering $30 more for my item. They wanted my info & would send money order. Sorry scammer not happening.

Guys trying to by my plow from 724-252-7239 tells me his name chris but when I called voice mail said roger and something about a tractor. Called him a dirty scammer told him to f off. said your phone # is all over the internet.

Same thing just happened. To me it's a scam becareful.

I had the same exact situation with this person this morning! I originally googled the area code but not the full # . He gave me this whole certified check run around when I asked more questions he never replied back yesterday! This morning he replied with this crazy business check cash thing etc. I tried to explain that many cases of fraud were done this way. I never let on that I have worked in a bank for 10yrs. He then explained that I was just really "needed" to help them in this stressful time and he had already mailed the check. I then had googled the entire phone # and told him that any mail sent to me would be sent or turned over to authorities and that I hoped he would pray to the Lord for forgiveness. I also called the authorities to let them know about the possible mail and what steps I should take in the case that he actually had already sent it. This is a shame! I knew it was seeming to be a little shady but try to give people a little bit of a benefit-of-the-doubt. However, I am enraged because I know that there are people out there that WILL fall for this!!

This phone number is someone printing out fraud certified bank checks and using them to 'purchase' wedding dresses from people on CL.  He sends a 'bank certified refund check' to you that is more than what you are selling and asks that you subtract the difference in the cost of your dress and shipping and wire transfer the difference to them.  I gave them my name and address they mailed me the check and my bank accepted it and it cleared right away, the next day however that money came out and went through the fraud department.  I had already bought my entertainment center with it!!  and now this con artist has my information!  I am pursuing a criminal suit against them if they can be found.  I looked up the information for where i was supposed to wire transfer the money it came up as:

The scary part is that they ACTUALLY mailed me a FRAUD certified bank check! After continuing to message me back and forth for almost a month!!

They did the same thing to me on CL i was selling my dress for $650...they mailed me a $2800 check to deposit and wanted me to subtract the difference and mail it back to them....the check got put on hold by my bank it bounced...but now this son of a bi*** has my full name and address!!  I WILL be pressing charges against them...if anyone would like to join in on a suit against them let me know!

It came up as an Unknown person on my Google + text. "She" texted me: " Hello. Do you still have the (wedding dress/bridal gown) for sale cause I would really love to have it."

In my post, I noted that I sell locally only (I'm in Michigan) I checked the number on White Pages and noticed it was from Pennsylvania. I texted back: "I sell local only"

"She texted back: "Am buying this dress for my wedding cause the original dress isn't available. I will send you a Bank Certified Check as a payment and would need you to ship the dress as soon as you have cleared the payment. Thus dress is lovely and it's needed urgently.. Reply me with your name an address to mail out the check to you."

Notice the grammatical errors.

I replied with: "No, stop scamming people. You have been reported to the IC3".

Just recieved a text from 724-252-7239 about my wedding dress saying they'd love to have it off craigslist also!

If it comes in the US mail, then as a rule it goes to the Postmaster as mail fraud, but in this case, I would suggest turning it over to the FBI..

They need to catch this guy. He just tried to get us to do it using the name Philip duff but was contacting us as his fiancé a imaginary girl called Carra Orr. Where do we send fraud checks too?

Got a text from 940-220-9154 its a scam number.

This just happened to me! Same story with the wedding dress. I texted the link to this page back to the person.

meant to add that I had a wedding dress for sale on craig's list

and that's why he wanted to send the certified bank check to be deposited in my acct

he said because my name has already been verified????...

I asked him what name was tha?t as I hadn't published my name with the ad, and that's about when he decided not to purchase the dress from me any longer/

I haven't let up with the gospel message or texts for him to change his life in the meantime to work on his conscience (conscience means:(con + science) or (with + knowledge) = know that he knows that we know....)

He got hold of me today via text. Wanted to send a check for deposit to my acct (so he could get the info, no doubt) and gave me the name and address of Philip I.duff PO BOX 6742 LARGO MD 20792.

I called his number and got the name of 'google member' Matthew Richards or Richardson (sorry it faded out)...

He got 74 texts so far explaining the gospel message and how he just needs to be sorry and ask God for forgiveness (and God is not mocked, He knows if he is telling the truth) then ask Jesus for His Holy Spirit so he can give him a new heart and he can become a new creation in Christ.

I received a text from this # (Pennsylvania) and from 940-220-9154 (Texas) about buying my wedding dress. Both numbers are not able to be reached if you call them....you can only text.The Texas number, who said his name was John (very generic) wanted to send me a cashiers check and then send a "Shipping Co Agent" to my house to pick up the dress after the check had cleared. Um, no! I replied that I would not be willing to do that, I would only ship it. I received no reply. My husband called the number and we got a fax machine type response. So I did a reverse phone number search and it led me to this site. These are total scam numbers!!!

Received call about purchasing a brides maid dress. Offered me over $2000 to send check back to wedding planner after my cut was taken out.

Wow. I just got a text from this number wanting to buy my wedding dress I'm selling for $500. Hasn't gone any further yet but because of this site I now know it's a scammer. Thanks a lot everyone!

Ok so the same excat thing has happended to me; although I actually recieved a check in the amount of $2300.00 - when I started recieveing the text msgs I txted back saying why would you be willing to buy a dress in colorado when you live in PA and trust a complete stranger with that amount of money hoping they would send it to a so called "wedding planner".  I guess I'll be stopping by the police station this weekend.....I don't know what else to do this person needs to get caught and have this type of thing stopped.

I've just received a text from them. Philip L. Prokopowich 4 Home St. Worcester Mass. 01609. Wanted to send me a bank certified check for $2600 for a dress I'm asking $350 for and for me to send the money left over to their wedding planner. I said no and haven't heard anything back. Text came from 1-724-252-7239 and 1-646-504-8366 and 1-862-239-6437.

I just got texted by this number about my dress too. This is the fourth scammer I've had text me about my dress in the past to days.

I literally just got the same message from that number. Saying they wanted to but my wedding dress, that they would send me a bank certified check and to send back the dress with the money. I think not!
