This company is also using 754-816-7495 and 973-337-0425, among many others.  They are unusually persistent for a group that says they just want to help you get a better education--- calling persistently for weeks is a good way to get potential customers to hate you, I would think, and when you reveal how angry these repetitive phone calls make you, their agents respond poorly at best.    Any legitimate company would have an EASY ACCESS to a "do not call" list.  So by my standards, this is not a legitimate company.

I work for this company as well. I here ALL of these things all the time. I COMPLETELY understand people getting upset if we call you a lot during the day. That's understandable. Don't hang up. Don't be rude. Don't ignore the call. Just pick up and ask to be REMOVED from the calling list and we'll stop calling. Otherwise, you will keep receiving the calls. And please don't take out your frustration on the agent who is on the phone. We do not personally call your number, the system does. We don't know exactly how the hell your number got put into the system (obviously you requested it, or it may have been a complete mistake when you or someone else in your family filled something else out online), so don't ask us and then get upset when we can't give you a specific answer. Again, the system calls for us, we just sit there and read what we are supposed to read. No, I don't want to be calling you early in the morning or late at night (which I have to do 6 days a week), but it's my job so I am required to do so in order to get payed so that I can actually survive. It's the best job I can get right now. I need it to pay for a car, college, and other living expenses. I'll leave as soon as I find something better, but until then, it's what I have to do. Please don't take your frustrations out on me, all I'm doing is my job, like you have to do yours, so that I can make a living for myself. Like I said before, if you don't like the calls, PICK UP AND ASK TO BE PLACED ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST. We'll put you as "Not Interested" and it will be done. Also, WE ARE NOT SELLING YOU ANYTHING. We're looking to get you information for schools. I don't care if you say yes or no, because I'm getting payed by the hour. You saying that you're not interested won't affect me at all. We don't care about your credit card number or ask for any money. Don't take your frustrations out on the agents, it's not our fault. If you have a very serious problem, speak to someone else about it who can actually DO something about it. I understand the frustration, though. If I was getting the calls, I would hang up on myself too.

We're ignorant, but you don't know the difference between "college" and "collage" (that's especially funny since you're SELLING higher education), or "weather" and "whether" to name just a few of the many errors you made?

Telemarketing (yes, that's EXACTLY what it is) will always be an employment option for the semi-literate, it seems. Sigh.

You're non-profit, so who pays you to make these calls, or do you just do it out of the goodnes of your heart and you concern that your fellow citizens get a better education that you evidently had?

LOL what a crock. Do you get extra points in the boiler room for spewing on 800 notes???

Lol, yall are SO FUNNY. Yes I agree with Vanessa, we get such a kick out of you guys that think we are telemarketers because you couldn't be more wrong. We are CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS who HELP PEOPLE. We are a non-profit company and all the agents get paid HOURLY, not commission, so honestly we could care less weather or not you do sign up for pre-qualification. This company is amazing and their goal is to help people, who requested our information, speak to admissions rep's with collages/trade schools/ect and help them take the first step to going back to school for the program you want. We solicit no one and do not steal your information or stalk you WHAT SO EVER. YALL fill out stupid surveys because you are not the brightest crayons in the box and want to get these free Walmart cards, lap tops, iPad's and various other fake free product opportunities (Sometimes websites even make you fill out the survey to get job listings). In YOUR process of trying to rush through the survey process to get free things you don't even pay attention to the BRIGHT RED BUTTON THAT SAYS "REQUEST INFORMATION"!!! Lol See, its all becoming clear now isn't it? However, you keep getting called because you either hang up on us with out saying a word, cuss us out and we schedule you for a call back (that's our way of having fun at work, sorry but its 150% hilarious) OR you continually don't answer and let it go to voice mail. And collage Mom, no disrespect but we are forbidden from "PIMPING" high schoolers or soliciting anyone from anywhere. All our applicants must be:
Over 18
Not in High School or collage OR wanting to transfer to a different collage
English speaking
Live in the US
and WANT to continue their education within 12 months.

I am truely very sorry your so ignorant, maybe you should pay more attention to what your doing when providing your personal information and give us a call at 866MyMajor and we'll help you get on the right path to furthering your education ;)

Ma'am I work for 866 and i want to let you know that we are not telemarketers since we are not selling anything or asking for bank information. We are simply a NO FEE, NO COST school locator. We do not scam people for their phone numbers. We help people find school in their areas or online schools that are legit.

Are you interested in returning to school? Maybe get a diploma, certification, or a high school degree?

Just messing with you ;) Just answer the phone, tell them you want them to have the supervisor to put you on the Do Not Call list. Yes there IS SUCH A THING.

I work for 866MyMajor and I am one of the people who calls. This is what I say - "hello is this *name*? I am calling from 866MyMajor[dot]com in regards to school information that you requested from our website. Were you looking to get a diploma, certification or college degree?"

Here is what NOT TO DO when we call:
Do not scream at us. Why? Some of our representatives will reschedule you for a redial which puts you back on the call list.
Do not ignore the phone call: Ignoring it and letting it go to Voicemail will ONCE AGAIN put you on the call list.
Do not pick up and quickly hang up: This will, OF COURSE, put you BACK ON THE CALL LIST. Because we set the call to 'No Answer'.

Just simply say "No I am NOT interested and I would like it if you could have a supervisor put me on the DO NOT CALL list."

Simple as that.

Remember what our mom's used to say "You get more with sugar than you do with salt."
Screaming at us will only make us laugh at you and put you BACK ON THE CALL LIST. Trust me, I redialed this woman at 9am on saturday because she called me a rude name. I work just like you. I work this job to put me through college. Be nice people.

NO YOU CAN NOT TRACE THE PHONE CALL BACK TO A CERTAIN REPRESENTATIVE.
NO YOU CAN NOT CALL THE COPS AND GET US ARRESTED
NO YOU CAN NOT CALL THE FBI, CSI, ETC.
Trust me we hear all of these everyday and all it does is make us laugh and talk about it while on our lunch/dinner breaks.

They call constantly and at all hours of the day. It's a recording of some kind because there is a blank voicemail left everytime! If you answer they connect the call to an associate and that person will try to get information about your educational experiance.  This person has been given your phone number either by signing up for something online or by taking a different over the phone survey. It's very annoying but the only way to end the calls is callin them back or answering when they call and demanding your number be taken off their list. Hope this helps.

Since one week (it started after I received an alert in the internet that I won a 1000$ Walmart gift card), I am receiving silent phone calls from different numbers everyday nearly 10 times or more. They also leave silent voice messages. Two days ago a woman called and talked about giving a money gift, I said I am not interested and she immediately hung up. Today a man with a heavy Indian accent called and said I won $15000. I asked him if he wanted my bank information and he immediately hung up. The calling numbers are:
6437451452
7272169541
9547194093

Yeah, they called me everyday until today! I called them back, and they are a research company that searches people who are interested in going back to college. I let them know that I was not interested and had them take me off. Hopefully, that worked. Fingers crossed!

I've had this number call me once a day for the last month. As a rule, I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but it was starting to freak me out that the same number called around the same time every day.

I'm definitely going to see about reporting it. I'm on the National Do-Not-Call list, yet telemarketers keep calling me.

Thank goodness cell phones can block most unwanted numbers. But I had to remove my voicemail because these unwanted telemarkets abused it every day for the past month.

All of a sudden I'm receiving all these marketing calls for jobs, careers, etc.  If I find out the college I attend has sold my number and this is why it's happening, not only will I file a complaint with the donotcall registry (which i've already done), but I plan on filing a complaint with the board of regents.
