I actually paid the $ and you know what it was real I had an excellent time I stayed at the Hilton Hotel if anyone had one this vacation on the price is right I'd have to pay the tax so would you,  it was less than 500 bucks and they're are 5 of  us $99 each practically I loved it the only thing that the guy was kinda full of s*** about was the 90 minutes or some of them don't tell you about that I didn't buy a time share I just looked at one

I bought a package for $398 I waited until I actually went on the vacations before I posted the following you people are full of s*** if you win is a vacation on the price is right it would not be free you have to pay the taxes this vacation the guy told me right up front it's not free but it's pretty close to it so I took a shot and I did it and guess what it was real the vacation was awesome I stated a really nice hotel and I had a great time I get a 90 minute tour that was the true catch, that's where they're a little full of s*** some of those people on the phone they don't let you know that you have to do one of those tours, but it was an awesome vacation and it was only 90 minutes  I will  do it again next year if I can I'm going to fill another one out when I get to the boat show I'll tell you that much

Hello Steph,

Read your post, and would simply like to address a few of your concerns.  The "Other" Company you noted that I owned is actually the same Company as Tour America.  We simply did a name change approx ten years ago to take advantage of the "Dot Com" buzz that was going on at that time.

Also, you were offered a payment plan of half the payment of $149, versus the $298, and the other half at the time of Travel.  You noted this made you "feel as though you were getting scammed" at that point.  However, all the Rep was doing was attempting to make it more feaseable for you at that time, as he felt there may have been an affordability issue.

Lastly, the Promotional Fee of $398 most likely was LESS Expensive than if you had been the winner, because if you had won, then we would have been responsible for obtaining your Social Security Number, which is even more intrusive than a credit card number, and then we would have had to issue you a Federal Gift Tax Form for the Full Retail Value of the Trip, which is listed at up to $2,100.  This is exactly what happens to "winners" on any Television Game Show.  The Taxes you would have then been liable for, would most likely have been MORE than the Promotional Fee of $398.

If you take some time to read the posts of Persons who have actually Traveled with TA, then you would see that there is a substantial Value to our Offer, and would have most likely been VERY pleased, as we have NEVER had a negative post from anyone who has actually gone on the Trip.  Kind Regards,  John Hummell IV - President - Tour America.Com, Inc.

Tour America is a Licensed & Bonded Florida Seller of Travel.  We have traveled Thousands of Families to Orlando & Florida's Beaches over the past Decade.  In fact, if you read several of the following posts, you will see that this Program is not only Legit, but it is a TRUE VALUE as well !!!

Keep in mind that when you read these Testimonials it is Florida State Law that all Testimonials be posted with the FL Dept. of Consumer Services, so that you, the Consumer, know they are valid.  Also, notice that Testimonials from persons who have ACTUALLY Traveled with us are ALWAYS POSITIVE.  The others are simply persons who have NOT traveled, and are simply & obviously sceptics.  HOW else would they know how Good or bad Our Program is if they Never Taveled ?????

TA understands this is a Non Present Phone Sale, so it may make some Persons sceptical.  However, we do require a credit card as the main method of payment, as a CC is required upon Check-In from ALL Major Hoteliers, as well as being the SAFEST method of payment, as all credit card Issuers protect Members from any fraudulent purchases.  Not to mention, FL State Law requires TA to provide a 30 day cancel period, so there is simply NOTHING to lose.  Please take some time to read the below Testimonials from VERY Satisfied Tour America Travelers.  Here's to Looking Forward to making the Memories of a Lifetime.   John Hummell IV - President - Tour America.Com,Inc

My husband and I attended Rock jam in Mack, Colorado this August of 2012. We were pressured into filling out an entry form for an all exclusive vacation fully paid for by the company. We received a phone call on September 8th, Just 2 weeks later from when we attended Rock jam. The gentlemen on the other line told me what I had won and stated that he wanted to speak with me and my husband together on speaker phone. He asked us if we were excited and stated that "if you aren't excited then you aren't invited". We told him we were excited and that we just wanted to make sure it isn't just to good to be true. He began his long speal about what we had won. He stated that we would receive 3 days and 4 nights in Orlando Florida and stay at the Hilton/Meriot and then after that we would get another 3 days and 4 nights in Daytona Florida....again staying at the Hilton. He told us we would get theme park passes to any park we wanted for free that valued more than $200 a piece. The after that we would receive a trip to any 2 bonus locations. Here we were getting excited to hear we had 'WON" a much needed vacation. This Michael Clein guy began to explain that we would need to pay for transportation to and from the destinations as well as a "registration fee" of $398 dollars up front to guarantee the vacation. Yeah...so much for "WINNING" a trip. He asked me if he could have my credit card info to "hold" my account. I told him we are unable to pay for anything right now as I have been out of work for more than a month and I had to pay rent yesterday. Not that I had to explain to the guy anyway why I was unable to pay him for the fee. He put me on hold for a second then came back saying that his manager signed off an approval to split the cost in half making our payment only $149 today and then the remaining $149 in two weeks. I told him that I did not have access to my credit card right now as I then felt I was getting scammed. I told him I would need to gain access to my credit card and I would call him back to sign us up so we could start booking our trip. We hung up the phone and knew it sounded to good to be true and my husband started googling this company. It seems that the owner of touring america had a business under a different name but also "gave away vacations". Turned out that the business he used to own is now closed down. I was glad I did not give him any banking information because I did not feel right about it as soon as he mentioned the registration fee. What kind of company would say that the trip is 100% paid for as sign up and then spring fee's on you after all the good news has been given. This is a scam!
Shows me to never sign up for vacation giveaway's at any kind of function. Beware of this company.
Do NOT fall for it. It sounded to good to be true and guess what.....? IT WAS! I'm just happy I didn't figure out the scam AFTER I had given my banking information. I can tell already from the other similar complaints that it would have been a nightmare. My husband and I attended Rock jam in Mack, Colorado this August of 2012. A bloody scam I wanted to opt out a day later but was told I cannot then I asked to opt out 12 days later and this is what they sent me
"You have already been sent your confirmation documents.  I am confused on what you mean.
I will look into it with the shipping dept.
Your package is non-refundable, we have adjusted the price for you and the time that you have to use it in... But I will still look into all of it for you, I will be in touch again today or tomorrow." and then Nothing after this what a bunch of w**kers I want my bloody money ahhh

Nicely put. If this company has done something super terrible, I would understand, but 80% or more of the negative comments have something to do with the very person writing it; not the company. My husband and I also recently filled out a form, knowing full well what we were doing and we were called about the trip(s) a week or so later. After spending a number of days reading reviews and info. and trying to decide for certain if we are going through with the trip(s), we will be, for sure, attending our get-a-way. Seriously people, know what you are doing and get your facts straight.
Also, when we filled out the form, we DID NOT put a credit card preference or a credit card number. We were contacted and not "scammed" in any way. Lastly, I'm just a mom here, spouting my opinion. I'm not a secret part of some vacation conspiracy in-cahoots company scammer or anything.

It's not a scam actually...the only catch is that you have to sit through some timeshare sales pitches, but other than that the vacation packages that they offer are wonderful if you have the money at the moment (with is half or less of what you'd normally pay!). They didn't tell me I won a free vacation, only that they are calling to offer discount vacations. I have friends who have done this and just always turn down the timeshares and enjoy the vacations...currently saving with my hubby to do the same!

I got a call and I told them I didnt feel comfortable since I had got scammed before. They wouldn't let me off the phone for an hour. I decided not to deal with the headache of wondering if this was a scam or not thanks to the website I pulled up quick right before I gave them my credit card number. Thanks

You have to be the dumbest a***ole to make false accusations about a buisness.  Let me guess, you could"nt whip out your debit card to spend 498 on your family so you now want to bash the buisness??  Get a life and hint...  Take your credit card and hide under the bed..

Tour America Scam

They say you have won some big discount and have a sales guy pitch you all this wonderfull stuff as better cruises and hotels.

If you sign up for it immediately call your bank if u want to cancel it cause they actually have a no refund policy even though their document states refunds allowed up to 30 days.
1.They demand 60 days warning for vacations.
2. They will put u in a nice hotel but in the cheapest room (often under 100$)
3. They continually tax you.
4. They state black dates that revolve around festivites and then later tell you no holidays either.
5. After they have sold you, they immediately become a** holes and wont even confess their name.
6. Sales person will pitch about how awesome the cruise is and that you can actually take any cruise within the country for free and that the 198$ extra is only for international travels. (In my situation he told me the alaskian one would be ideal for me but their company does not even have a 4 day carnival cruise to alaska.)
7. NO REFUNDS even if they say it in their contract.
8. the cost of traveling there and paying for it in the end is over 1000$ for one person and its not worth it unless your a family of 4 who doesnt want to do much during vacation, can commute there, and knows exactly when they wants to be there during a dead season 60 days in advance.
HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH A D RATING FROM CONSUMERS.

They called me and told me I had won a vacation as a subscriber to magazines. I do not subscibe to any so I played along to hear the deal. It turns out my not so free reservation would cost me $498 and they wanted it now. I indicated that they should e-mail me the information or mail it to me so I can check the credibilty of the company. The salesman(criminal) asked me to look up their website and I did. He guided me to the liscensing and bonding section which was all expired. He sucked wind and reassured me that they were current, and when I read back the exact expired wording he tried to redirect me. So having fun with this at this point I called my Visa to verify the company was credible and Visa told me that they were not. When I repeated this to the salesman(criminal) he sucked wind and decided he had wasted enough time on me. My advice is to call them criminals and hang up. I am sure I will get a couple more phone calls from my new found friends.

Hi Holly,
Thanks for answering.
I received a confirmation e-mail with my confirmation number and an attachment from the President John Hummel. I don't know what to think because I know they want to sell timeshares to people so in a way you'd think it would be legit but at the same time I am unsure and feel stupid for giving them my credit card info. They do have an address and number and so on so  I could get my money back one way or another.

Yeah I'm from regina too, and they just called to say I won, and that I was "Live on air" and said stuff like "Make sure to act excited"  Then I told her (her name was Megan West) I wasnt going to give my credit number over the phone, she had her manager talk to me and say that this is recorded and that me and my Credit card company will have access, blah blah.
I asked for some hard documents and they said that they couldnt do that, so I told them I wasnt interested. They hung up.

I too am from regina, went to the ex and entered this contest, and got a phone call today saying I had won this trip.  The guy sounded like he was bob barker or something... he told me also to act excited because I was on air or whatever.  So dumb, I told him I wasn't comfortable giving my credit card number over the phone, he got his manager to talk to me but that didnt ease my fears at all. I said that I wanted to think about it and they said i had to do it on this phone call. I told them to call me back in 10 mins so i could think it over, and i decided against it.  $500 bucks for a free trip.. hmm. It was tempting but after looking at these posts i am glad i didnt cave and give my credit card number.  BEWARE THEY ARE DOING THIS TO LOTS OF PEOPLE!

Hi
I'm in New Zealand - Same with me all of the above  - very aggresive sales people - the more I said no the worse they got till they hung up.
I cancelled my card immediately and luckily the payment somehow has not made it through - they meantime sent me an email trying to persuade me further saying I had filled out some form(which I hadn't) and then saying I pulled out during the verification process....I did email them when it first happened saying I was laying a complaint whether this stopped the payment I don't really know.  But my bank still checked things for me.
Never again will I listen to a phone call like this.

I recieved a call at work on 27 Nov 2009. "Jermome" told me that I had entered something at the snowmobile expo in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and had now won a great trip to Flordia/Bahamas. All I needed to do was pay $299.00 per person and tell all my friends/family how great my trip was....and I also needed to attend some timeshare seminars. "Jermome" then transfered me to some other rep who then tried to get my credit card info from me. I told him I wasn't comfortable giving this info over the phone and if could get some emails to look at or call them back...I wasn't allowed to call them back or have them call me back cause then I'd lose my spot and it'd go onto the next person. He questioned why I was so concerned about giving out my Visa info...he tried to tell me that I went to a legitimate event (this is true...and I was entering every contest I could find) and that WTA had to be legit if they were there....but what the heck is a Florida vacations company doing at a snowmobile expo in Alberta, Canada?! )Come to think of it...I don't remember seeing a booth from them....All the booths was from local/area places). Anyways, buddy on the phone offered to hold while I looked them up on the internet and after 2 mins of trying a google search and not getting anything posative, I hung up the phone. No one has tried calling me back.
I don't remember the phone number that called me but it had area code 646 (which is New York city according to Wikipedia.com). The customer service number they gave me is 727 230 8766.
