Well, years later, time *did* Tell!:
M.I.C. / Bill Edwards finally got slammed with that $7.5 Million Fine!  TAMPA BAY TIMES (JUNE 28,.2013):
In reality, regulators said, the company was only offering adjustable rate mortgages which left consumers liable for higher payments with rising interest rates. It also required consumers to pay closing costs.

Further, the FTC said, Mortgage Investors allegedly misled consumers about a corporate affiliation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Do Not Call list was created to protect consumers from unwanted calls from telemarketers. Since 2003, about 221 million U.S. consumers have registered for the program, which the FTC describes as one of the agency's "most recognized consumer protection achievements."

The FTC announced the fine on Thursday, the 10th anniversary of the Do Not Call Registry. At the same time, it announced the first settlements coming out of a 2012 inquiry into companies that made millions of illegal pre-recorded calls. The calls from "Cardholder Services" were designed to persuade consumers to make up-front payments to lower their credit card interest rates.

"Today's settlements leave no doubt that (Do Not Call) enforcement remains a top priority," FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez said in a statement Thursday.

The fine against Mortgage Investors was the 105th enforcement action under Do Not Call provisions, but the first one targeting misleading mortgage ads under the Mortgage Acts and Practices ? Advertising Rule.

Under the proposed consent decree, the company is barred from calling people on the Do Not Call Registry and denying consumer requests to be placed on specific Do Not Call lists. It also is barred from misrepresenting any terms related to its mortgage products and misrepresenting affiliations with any government entity, including the VA.
If you'd love a tropical cocktail in a beautiful seaside resort, try Island Inn at Treasure Island...Bill Edwards owns the whole place. Literally.
He's also "massive" friends with state and national politicians, always those who profit most from destroying people's lives and stripping away pesky government "overreach" (regulations). They give speeches about the free market -- that means, a monopoly by and for themselves. They boast about being more patriotic yet enjoy ripping Veterans off. Sickening. Whattayadoo with a *traitor*????

If you want to talk to the guy who runs this telemarketing giant, go to 9980 Gulf Boulevard,Treasure Island, Florida 33706. This place is beautiful!  Bill Edwards owns this fantastic hideaway. He also owns Mortgage Investors Corporation, recently making big news, receiving a massive penalty from the Federal Government for misrepresentation, robocalls, etc. If you like the sweet taste of justice for our troops, if you're harassed by "Rachel" and other phone scams, find a news article from June - July 2013 and LOL.

who the fhell are these people??? i put my number on the DNC list a month a go and now I feel like I'm getting more calls from these telemarketers than i was before...anyone else experiencing this??? and aren't there laws that prohibit them from calling outside the hours of 8am--9pm??? MRTG just called me from a 707 number (local) at 6:46am....now i'm awake an hour before I need to be. I tried calling back to give them a piece of my mind but all i get is "the number you have dialed is unallocated". Is there anything else we can do since apparently the DNC list doesn't seem to working????

The bulk of complaints here is not due to "a" phone call, singular, but a pattern of annoying and harassing calls, which sound a great deal like yet another mortgage refi scam. Layer on the way the reps try to falsely imply an established businesses relationship or that they are somehow immune to the TCPA and the Telemarketing Sales Rule.

Spare us the violins for call center reps, who DO "have a say-so" in who they call "boss", and should find a less suspicious employer. It is also plain that to "ask for a supervisor" (spelling corrected) is a waste of breath since they don't care enough about civil behavior in the first place to avoid calling, never mind honor verbal demands to cease calling.

I would drop a cease-comm notice on this cube farm, sent USPS Certified with return card. When I can hold a $1500-per-call penalty overhead, THEN we can talk about "how the company markets itself" in front of a judge.

Wow as I read these posts I am shocked at how sum people over react to a phone call. The people who call u or the loan officers that come to ur house dont have a say so in how the company markets itself. There just people trying to pay there bills and support their families. Ur posting there home addresses on  here, saying ur gonna dump stuff in the tanks of the cars parked n the lots or that u spent an hour calling   this company and then hanging up to get revenge- the guys that did that really need girlfriends.  I agree the calls can be annoying but really? Lol. Im not gonna hurt no one or there property beacuse I dont like the company they work for. Come on people ask for a superviser then tell them to remove ur number.

They call many times aday, many days. Why do they keep calling? Don't they have a brain to figure out? They think that they will get any business from never-answer their call? How much they pay for the people to call us? They think that every number's owner that they have in hand have a problem with mortgage? Where do they get our numbers, It's a home phone number ,not a charity org. that they can call for help.

Will they ever stop calling??  I have not answered their calls for months.  I finally answered and they were so persistent in asking questions about my Mortgage.  I told him we were not interested in refinancing.  I asked him to take my name off his list and he acted like I was the dumbest person on the planet for not listening to his offer.  He actually kept going until I yelled into the phone to please take my name off your list.  I am now going to block the number.  These ppl are maddening!!

These guys are Mortgage Investors Corp and here is their deal...we found out the hard way by having soemone actually come to our house to tell us how they could get our VA loan down from 5% fixed to 3.5%. Well they won't tell you over the phone but the mortage rep did and it is an adjustable loan after three years that can go up to 8%. No thanks get out and they continue to call. My husbands mistake for falling for it and I will not let him live this one down because after telling them two times a day we are not interested do not call us they continue daily. So today I told him I was going to get the word out on the "3.5% deal' so that no one has to go through what we are going through! Also they hide behind being memers of BBB well look them up and they are NOT accredited by the BBB so they are not members. Maybe at one time they were but they can not hide behind that anymore it is clear on the BBB website. I gave all that info to the mortgage rep and they were seemingly shocked becasue it is in the little clever cartoon presentaton in bold print. Well I just hope this helps so when they call (OK stalk) you tell them you do not want their adjustable rate no way no how! GO AWAY!

7273446293 has been calling daily.  finally called back 2day 2 ask to be removed from the list. hopefully it will work, but i doubt it.  i wonder if calls will increase. i spoke to the rep who called at 7:59 pm and told them i'm not interested, she asked if I understand what the program is about.  I repeated not being interested.  she hung up.  would never do business w/ them.  I like the suggestion a prior writer used about this #.  Using a reverse telemarketing scheme on them if we all banded together.  He said he kept on getting the same 3 or 4 people named eric and so on.  telemarketers are such scum!

They call our house 2-6 times a day for months if not years.  I never answer fearing that answering would only increase the calls.  Today they called on a Saturday before 9:00am so I answered and asked if they know it is a Saturday before 9:00am.  The female on the other line said to me rudely, "some people still have to work on Saturdays!" then hung up.  I called the number back and told them to take me off of their list!  It takes 48 hours- hopefully this will end these annoying calls.  I also registered all of my phone numbers on the national do not call list.

They keep calling our house also... for at least 3 months.. They say that they can lower my VA home loan to 4.5% and that they are supported by Veteran Affairs.. all they need is to come to our house for 15 minutes to come talk to us.. we were just picking up and hanging up on them.. so I answered yesterday and asked them to stop calling but I got a call today and asked to same thing.. i just put my numbers on the national do not call registry at donotcall.gov .. we will see what happens.

I have been getting AT LEAST two calls every weekday from this number for the last three months.  I'm tempted to answer just to find out who they are, but I'd rather have em waste money on employees or line time.  It IS annoying though. :(  There's never a caller ID, just a "0"
