Received call from this number. Caller says he is from a federal agency (not sure which agency, his accent is very heavy) and there is a case against me for unpaid loan, check fraud and something else and would i like to handle this now or would I rather them take me to court. I told him that I believe he is a scammer and hung up on him as I do not have any loans, let alone any unpaid loans.

It was a shocking for my wife to receive this call about my daughter who use to live with us few years ago, but the calling officer Miller was mentioning her as "He". Must be some one who does not know a south indian  naming culture. Still she was shocked. My daughter received the message and checked it online at once and traced it at once that it is fraud caller. She did not care, even to call this Officer Miller (keep dreaming) back.

Said he wanted to give me a loan fo 3 thousand dollats but i first had to send them money from a greendot card. He did so in a way that he was trying to convince me that i was only paying for western union transfer. He even said that they would have someone from their company wait for me at the western union to get the money from me. at one point the man said i had a sexy voice. It was a foreign man who said his name was johnathan and he also put me on the phone with his "boss" who sounded like he may have been american. They called me twelve times. They knew my address and birthdate and other personal things. He even tried to ask me questions about my children.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I received a call from this Indian man saying he was an attorney and that the sheriff would be coming for me because of a money laundering crime. I figured he was a scam artist, but I don't like that he has my personal information. When I told him that he was a scammer then said that he'd come and remove me from my house! So I called him a creep and hung up. But now I'm angry and I wish that I could wring his neck!

My husband called and it was an indian speaking person. When "Alex" got on the phone and my husband blasted him saying that he was a FRAUD he became angry and told my husband to have his wife do sexual things to him and hung up the phone. I HAVE REPORTED THEM TO THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE.

Excellent .... Fake police, meet real police. Thanks for your concern, "Officer Jack", we'll have someone walk twenty feet over to her desk here in the station.

The something which needs doing is for all of their call recipients to sue for relief. This sounds on the face like the work of another South Asian fraud shop, however.

Blabbing about someone else's alleged debt problem in the U.S. is illegal for all collection agencies. Making it sound like a criminal matter is even worse. This is no "prank". It's not the work of snickering boys but thugs who want to scare money from your pants.

I got a call from this number also (727-399-7922) on my cell phone from an Officer Jack Davis(very heavy Indian accent) telling me he needed a moment of my time. He then told me he was collecting a debt from a payday loan and if I didn't pay he was going to send the sheriff department to my office to arrest me. What he didn't know is that I work for the police department. When one of the Captains got on the phone and identified him self the person hung the phone up. Do not fall for this! THIS IS FRAUD!!!! Something really needs to be done about these people harassing people.

Prank Call
I just received a call today at my job - from a federal investigator name Jack Davis.  He said he needed 5 minutes with me to tell me what this was about and asked if I had that kind of time.  I put him on hold because I had someone at my desk.  When I went back to him, he was gone. He called back and stated that I was trying to play games with him.  He asked for my cell number to call me back after work - I told him to give me his number and I would call him. I'm listing it as a prank call because there isn't a listing for a fraudulent call.

Man with middle eastern accent called claiming to be "Officer Jack Davis from Federal Investigation". Claimed he was working a case of loan fraud and needed to speak to my boyfriend.
I thought Federal officers weren't supposed to disclose information to anyone but the person they ask to speak to...Hmmm? Yep got him to stumble over that one. LOL
Beware of this number, have seen reports of him using other AMERICAN names.
I would classify this as a prank call but  only because call type doesn't say FRAUD.

A man with a middle eastern accent called and claimed to be "Officer Jack Davis with Federal Investigation". He asked for my boyfriend and said he had to speak to him about a matter involving loan fraud. My boyfriend hasn't received a loan. He later called my boyfriend's number and told him the same thing. My boyfriend replied that he doesn't even sound American and the guy hung up on him.
Be careful because I've seen other complaints where this number has called people and gotten them to send him money. FRAUD!!!!

Received a call saying he was calling from Federal Gov. Investigator and wanted to talk to Mr.XYZ in the house. I said, its me and asked what was the call about? He started arguing rudely that why should he give me that info, when he realized that it was not me whom he wanted to talk to. I replied the same to him, asked him to identify himself. Obviously he would not. Started to threaten me that he would send police to my home. I said please do so. That way I can report your fraud phone call. He was NOT Indian. Since I am Indian, I can figure out that easly. He mentioned names of other family members. I said that anyone can find out online, there are tons of website that will give you relatives names. He kept swearing about Indians and I just hung up on him.

Got the call from this number, give his name and ID# . Threatening me that I didn't pay money that I owe to IRS, that I skip to pay and I also ignore several mails that they sent me few months back, So, if I don't sette at once, I will go to jail my passport will be taken, and my citizenship will be cancelled. when i ask for in writing again or in an e-mail, he transfer the call to an attorney. The attorney told me to settle without hanging up the phone. He ask me to go to bank, get cash and go to walmart, and wait for further instruction, if i don't do that I will be arrested and will be in Jail. I hang up and reported to Local police, state AG office. I was advised by police to call IRS and make sure that I owe nothing to them, and then just ignore them. I called IRS and confirm that I owe them nothing. These people are very shrewd and really shook me up. Please don't follow their instruction and get cash from bank.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

Got several calls from 727-399-7922.  Had my address from 15 years ago. Same things around arrest warrant from IRS, federal charges, etc.  Would not give me his address - said was from Florida.  I knew he was a fraudster, but played along to see what he was after.  Kept threatening me with legal action, arrest warrant, and asked whether I wanted to settle.  I eventually asked him to send me stuff in writing (which he obviously said he could not do).  Think they are targeting immigrants etc. hoping that these scare tactics could work.  I finally just hung up on him!  BEWARE!
