So what brings you here to offer people unsolicited advice? Are you some Suze Orman here to advise some anonymous strangers, or are you some deadbeat professional debtor that is speaking from personal experience? Just asking

One thing about this number, it leads to http://www.b2byellowpages.com/company-information/24378422-amscotfinancial.html and BBB report http://www.bbb.org/west-florida/business-revi ... mpa-fl-52003083

When I dealt with these calls in the past, I came to believe that these maggots assume their info is correct and that I was trying to avoid them.
I have mentioned this before, one of the last numbers now belongs to a movie theater nearby. So now they are getting movie listings.
Tred 2014-01-30 18:28:46 Unknown
Yes, outdated numbers that you now have. Means nothing to these predators, it's still associated with whomever they're trying to find. Calling and telling them is useless, writing them may be useless as they change their tactics to nondisclosure calls. Writing and filing complaints with BBB's state and federal consumer protection agencies gives you a starting point and also exposes all of their non compliant activities.
Tred 2014-01-30 17:59:40 Unknown
Yes, bottom-rung. Plus the numbers they say to call back to are for call centers affiliated or associated with whatever debt collection agencies and others. It's under these networks of associations and affiliations that they distance themselves fraudulently acting as if you didn't call them and they didn't call you.
MidNYteStorm 2014-01-30 17:43:26 Unknown
They take on all forms.
MidNYteStorm 2014-01-30 17:42:04 Unknown
But these operations often call numbers that are out of date.
Tred 2014-01-30 17:28:17 Unknown
Yes, one disclosed call for location information, does not reference 100's of nondisclosure calls to relatives and friends used more to, flush out, harass, abuse, and exploit those called. Just another BS excuse designed as disinformation and abuse of consumer protection rules, regulations, and laws at the state and federal levels. Predatory debt collection practices, not to mention, how cowardly!
Gunnar 2014-01-30 17:24:02 Unknown
It's pretty obvious that you're trying to shill for this outfit. Which brings in to question your choice of an alias. "common sense"? Puhleeeze! The only fools that work in the fraudulent debt collection racket are the desperate fools with out a lick of any sense at all. Immoral, unethical, poorly educated social leeches are what staff the call centers for fraudulent debt collection outfits. It's rather ironic when you think about it. The flunkies that are employed by fraudulent debt collectors are the biggest dead-beats in society.
Enjoy that lousy $10 an hour and those promised commissions that rarely materialize. That's as good as you'll ever likely to be paid.

The problem is when the maggots from collection agencies call an outdated number.
MidNYteStorm 2014-01-30 16:50:42 Unknown
That doesn't prove anything. I have had phone numbers where I was receiving calls for people I didn't even know.
That is why I asked you to prove that these operations ALWAYS call updated numbers.
Tred 2014-01-30 16:49:45 Unknown
Yeah right! If you're contacted by this group use the numbers under their BBB report and you can also "File Complaint" after they deny calling or give some BS excuse. If they've called you it's not because of wrong number, wrong name, or we didn't call excuses. They called because you are associated to an account. Follow up with complaints to your state and federal consumer protection agencies. http://www.bbb.org/west-florida/business-revi ... mpa-fl-52003083#

amscotfinancial.com
That's their link. Looks like a payday loan of some sort
Common Sence 2014-01-30 16:34:43 Unknown
It's not B.S. If I "Personally Know" I owe a bill, that's good for me. As far as contacting friends/neighbors they can only do it to locate you, but not reveal the debt.
Common Sence 2014-01-30 16:31:09 Unknown
Ok, but I've noticed people say "Pay the Original Creditor" ok, lets look at it from there.
1. Call the Creditor, and see if they don't tell you to call another number (maybe the one that is on the 3rd part notification)
A. I don't believe the creditor would reference a different unless they sent the account to a third party
2. Try online payment
A. You may be blocked because of it being pass due, and a 800 number referenced to support.
That's good enough for me, and if I "PERSONALLY" know I owe the Debt, so be it.
MidNYteStorm 2014-01-30 16:18:40 Unknown
Please prove that the numbers these maggots call is always up to date.
Obviously you cannot.
Tred 2014-01-30 16:16:14 Unknown
Oh! Now it's Mr Common Sense Debt Collector, yes, the BS excuses of pay your bills but you're contacting friends and family members that have nothing to do with it, other than from your skip tracers and "associated list" contacts.
Gunnar 2014-01-30 16:11:34 Unknown
Nice try, but no cigar. If your firm has legal title to a debt you had better be able to prove it. And anyone with half a brain will verify that you're licensed and bonded to collect in their state. And will check on the SOLs regarding debt in their state.
If anyone receives a call from you they had better DEMAND a notice of validation be mailed to them within 5 business days of initial contact. If you can't, or won't, provide them with one they should NOT pay you a dime.
The only thing that's lower than a fraudulent collection outfit attempting to collect on invalid debt is the cubicle-clowns that work for them.

If you have a bill to pay, don't you think you should pay it?
Yes yes yes...I know all about this debt verification garbage, but if it is a bill that "YOU KNOW YOU OWE" why not just pay it, instead of going to the stalling process when you'll have to pay it anyway?
Charge offs don't mean debt forgiveness, and just because a Department Store/Credit Card sends it off to Collections doesn't mean the debt is invalid.
If you want Debt Verification fine, call your original creditor and see if they reference another number that matches the Notification you may receive from a Debt Collector....There's your verification.
Tred 2014-01-30 16:00:41 Unknown
Okay, why are you doing some shill work on the thread Mr. Debt Collector? Do you feel that your using full disclosure contact rules, regulations, and laws to supposed debtors and their relatives and friends that may include the elderly, vulnerable and uninformed? Yes, 41 known locations, Florida, wonder what call center affiliations and associations they have with NCO Group? Portfolio Recovery? Allied Interstate? Protocol Global Solutions? APAC? EGS? and whoever.

Amscot Financial - In my case, they are calling in reference to a sum of money that I owe them. Legit.
