I received a call on my cell phone about 5 days ago in the afternoon, they told me the same thing, I'd won $400 of travel vouchers & 2-3 nights stay in some hotels, they had all my banking info that they wanted me to verify & wanted to send me the vouchers for $1.95 & then if I didn't like the program, I could call & cancel in 14 days, or I would be charged $40 activation fee + a $19.95 monthly fee. They were also trying to send me crap for some Florida trip & some other offer I didn't want. So far no charges have been made to my account, but I'm calling my bank anyway, to let them know about this & hopefully avoid any crazy charges in the near future.

**I borrowed that from our law inforcer/ consumer friend above.**

Their direct number is 1-888-799-1879. They will ask you for personal information.  NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF, IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GIVEN THEM YOUR INFORMATION,IS TO CLOSE YOUR CURRENT ACCOUNT AND APPLY FOR A NEW ONE.

They will never let you speak to a manager because they dont have any. They just keep asking you for personal information. They will also tell you they do not have your phone number in their records and and will continue to ask you for your account information. If you are persistant about speaking to a manager,He/She will get on the phone and try to consol you. When you tell them you want to cancle your membership they will give you a bogus cancellation number. But, if you ask they couldnt tell you your name for chit!

If you really want to get to them, call them and keep repeating:

Legitimate travel programs don't need bank name, account number, and routing number to verify an account.  Scam artists do that in order to gain access to an account illegally.

Failure to cancel an account upon immediate request is illegal, under FEDERAL LAW and is punishable by up to 10 years in Federal Prison and/or a maximum fine of $500,000.

Further more it doesn't matter how good you think the deal is, if a consumer isn't interested they shouldn't have to say anymore than that.

Ijust had some chic call me and began asking me for my banking info and i preceded to ask her how she got my info. She became very adamant about giving her my routing number to my account and iasked her how she came across this info and she stated anyone that works for a bank has access to bank routing numbers,so are they telling me that employees of the banks are selling customers routing numbers to these telemarketing companies, to help them harass and even swindle people out of their hard earned money for their own personal benefit? Ihung up on the woman and I truly hope she doesn`t call back or attempts towithdraw funds from my account! These people are really irritating to say the least!

OK Guys, I was in a mood to have fun. So I honestly asked a lot of questions. As I am from india I know where is their call center.
I told them, just wait for 5 minutes and my brother(who works close to their call center in Mumbai) will come and meet you then I'll give you my account number.

So I put them on call ...for 45 minutes (hold of 25 minutes including). anybody more than me?

I just got a call from them...not knowing who they were I called back I didn't hear the line ring but whoever answer asked if it was Joy and I said yes. He then told me all about the prize that I had one and began to tell me my address and routing number then asked for my bank and accoutant number. I put him on hold and just listened for a while I heard a TV in the background and someone else shout the name of my account to someone else. PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED. No one not even the people at your bank should have access to your private info unless you have given your permission.

I SMELL a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMING!!! This has got to be one of the biggest scams of the century. You claim that by reading scripts verbatim you cover you "assets". Well, in the case of my son, he did not give you his account number, your guys read it to him along with a routing number, NO LEGITIMATE company would do this, not in this day and age. Wherever, you got the account number, you got it illegally. It was not provided to you by the customer, and I guarantee, it was not provided to you by the Bank....on the other hand when someone calls your company back to speak with someone, and is basically told to be CAREFUL WHO YOU TALK TO, and is THEN HUNG UP ON, SCAM SCAM SCAM, shame shame shame on this company, if it is even legit. This happened with my son, I work in the banking industry, and can tell you from experience, the account number was compromised from somewhere, and since the bank cannot release it to you, you got it ILLEGALLY, and then get the customers to confirm that it is correct!!! Somewhere along the lines I SMELL a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMING!!!

CONSUMER ALERT!

ANOTHER BANK ISSUES A WARNING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS REGARDING SUNTASIA/STRATEGIA MARKETING'S "Travel Agents Direct" !

The following is from the Associated Credit Union website:

Don't Take The Bait!  Watch For E-mail & Phone Scams!

Current Scams

A company called Travel Agents Direct calls members to inform them that they've won free hotel and travel vouchers.  They know the credit union's routing number and ask for your checking account number to debit you for just enough to cover mailing you the vouchers!

The company gets information from those who may have purchased products from online marketing companies or infomercials, who pass on the personal information to Travel Agents Direct.

End of Alert.

Like I told you many times before, bank alerts are becoming common for Suntasia/Strategia marketing company. If you want to see the alert for yourself click the link below.

These creeps just called me.  My sister had told me about a call she got that was very similar to what I was hearing them say to me.  So I thought I would have some fun.  I listened, made sure I never said the word "yes" and they got to a certain point and it sounded like they weren't going to ask for my bank info.  They said they didn't need it, they already had it in their "secure database" So I said that wasn't possible because I didn't have checking account.  They said my credit union name and my name and I said I din't have an account.  they said, your a joint with your husband.  I said, no, he won't let me have an account and that he would kill me if they took any money out of it.  (I thought that last bit was pretty funny)

anyhow, it makes me really nervous.  They shouldn't have my account, I never gave it to them.  they put a manager on the phone and I just insisted I didn't have a checking account.  he hung up.  about 10 mins later, another one called me from the "quality control dept" and tried to sell me the package.  immediately, I said I don't know how they thought they got my account info, but they better not think they could use it.  they told me that I or someone else used my info to get a payday loan or some other loan.  I told him it sounded like it was time to pull my credit report.  he just wanted to get off the phone at that point and I verified the company name.  I guess I will send the cease and desist letter and let my bank know about this. what a bunch of crap I don't need!

they called from 2 numbers: 727-252-0516 and 727-683-1110

Well if they are so honest then I would like the money the took out of my account after I canceled with them.  I shouldn't have been charged for doing that for what I know.  So if you could let them know that jerry_m_66442@yahoo.com could be emailed the directions in which he could get his money back that would be greatful.

Hmmm. Suprised you are calling poeple like me "retards" since you claim to work for (and thus represent) the company. I did cancel within the period, and they charged me anyway. I am now preparing my own lawsuit against them.

Frankly, if you are representative of the people who work for them, then I guess I shouldn't be suprised by their unscrupulous business practices.

Same story with me, only I was recovering from surgery. When I asked the woman who called me how she got my information, she got rude and only said that I made a purchase with an affiliate store. I write no checks and make a point of that when purchasing from any stores. The only checks I write are to pay bills. Now, of course, because I do not remember the conversation, I'm screwed with these charges to my bank account. Clever b*****ds, huh?

ATTENTION: ANOTHER BANK ALERT ON SUNTASIA MARKETING (Now Strategia)!

Like I have been saying all along, more and more alerts are being sent out by banks, tv new stations as well as the internet about these crooks.

The alert below was posted recently by Members Plus Credit Union warning it?s customers about Suntasia and it?s umbrella companies like Distinct Advantage, Travel Agents Direct and Freedom Gold.

Telephone Scam - BEWARE!

Members Plus Credit Union has become aware of a fraud scheme which has targeted some of our members. In this scheme a member is called by a marketing firm and led to believe that MPCU hired this firm. They claim that the member will receive free gifts, but that they need to confirm a bank account number. The caller will read off the bank?s routing number, which is public knowledge, and ask the member to provide the account number. The account number can be used to withdraw funds from the victim?s account.

The calls are usually placed from the ?727? area code. In the past, this group has used the business names of Distinct Advantage, Freedom Gold, Capital Vacations, and Suntasia Marketing. Members Plus Credit Union has not hired Distinct Advantage, Suntasia Marketing or any other marketing company to call our customers. You should be very cautious of any free offer made over the telephone. Never give out confidential information such as account numbers, social security numbers or other personal information.

End of Alert.

You can see the MPCU posting for yourself by visiting the site at:

http://www.memberspluscu.org/ASP/whatsnew.asp

Scroll to the bottom and you will see it.
