This is a FOR PROFIT call center.  They "take on" any contract they can.  If they say they are calling on behalf of your local police, fire, cancer, etc.  what they really mean is we have a contract with this agency.  We'll send them a little bit of whatever we collect BUT we also have a minimum clause.  If we do not collect at least a specified amount, we'll send nothing to the alleged charity.  They have an almost limitless set of phone numbers they can call from.  They may or may not be calling from the US and the money you give them may or may not stay in this country.  They can be in India, Pakistan, Africa, anywhere at all.  The so-called charity they collect for may not even exist or may not exist in this country.  These are all telemarketing companies who "laughed" when the DO-NOT-CALL legislation was passed because it excludes "charities."  If my favorite charity contracts with these groups I immediately drop that charity from my gift-giving list.  That's the only way to put these scum bags out of business.  They seek only to make huge profits by exploiting legitimate charities and kind people.  Don't fall for it

A dead call, no one on the other end

this person called me and did not say anything on the othere end of the phone please help me find out who this is.

Received a call from this number today at 1:07 pm.
No one on line when I answered and not able to get a callback to go through.

Same as above...received a call from this number, no on was there on the other end. I called back later, rang about 15 times, no answer again

Received a call 7/27/09 and the caller ID showed WCS and the number was 727-842-7127.  I thought I recognized WCS as a call I'd received before asking for a donation so I didn't answer.  They left no message and when I called that number back it just rang & rang.  Nothing in Reverse call look-up except the call originated in New Port Richey, Fl.

They've been calling for several days.  They told my wife earlier that they only wanted to speak to me.  They wouldn't tell her who they were or what they were calling for.

When I got home from work, they called and asked for me.

"Is this Jim?" (not my real name), he asked.

"Who is this?", I replied.

"This is (forgot the first name) Poston", he said.

"Do I know you?", I asked

"Is this Jim", he said.

"I don't know", I said.

"Well look, it's kind of easy - either you were born Jim or you weren't", he said obnoxiously.

"What do you want?", I repeated.

"Is this Jim?"

"Look", I said, "just take me off whatever list you have me on.  I do not want to be called."

Caller ID said WCS.  Number was 1-727-835-0201

Glad to see that I am not the only one who gets these annoying calls.

Caller said they were from F.A.S.T.  got me to agree to contribute $20. then put me through to "confirmation" person.  but b-4 that said, this would NOT be tax deductible, which made me even more suspicious.  Confirmation person said, "do you promise to send $20.00, to which I replied, "NO, it would depend on my circumstances when I get your letter."  She said it costs money to send out, so would I be more comfortable w/ $15? I replied yes, but have no intention of sending anything, now that I've read the comments.

For the last several days I get a call from this number and nobody answers. What gives?

Did not answer. When Answering Machine answered they hung up.

Next time they call will answer and press # repeatedly rather than talk.

The time after that will answer and ask them to hang on and then lay the phone down. When I hear the tone saying they have disconnected, will hang up.

Last call on 1/20/09 @ 3:11 p.m.    Listened for recorder, but they hang up.  Have had several of these.

I will never donate again to the Red Cross.  It lead to them selling our information to many other lists.

You CAN HAVE a CRIMINAL REPORT filled out it is especially easy when you find out whom these people are and go through the procedures to stop them, even when they change the name or phone number from where they are calling.

Answered the call after three rings and repeatedly said "Hello."  Silence followed for 10 seconds or so, then a click.

This b*****d has been calling sometimes 3 times a day for two years - today 3 times and at all hours - I have documented very single call - here's the scoop - if I catch you - I will cut off your balls prick - I do not think this is a telemarketer - I suspect that it's a hired harrassment line.

I spoke to the caller. Can You believe it. Its a Telemarketing company contracted by the Law Enforcement agencies of central Florida. Either the F.O.P or the Sheriffs dept.

Phone rang till answering machine picked up.  Then they hung up on their end.  I'm on do not call list, how do they get thru?  Tried calling # back using *69, "will not accept unidentifed calls"

This number called at 8:35 Jan 8.  no one on the line , I called back and got a noise resembling an automatic dialer.

this number calls but never leaves a message. If they are honestly doing something good you would think they would leave a message.

Short click then line went dead upon answering. When I tried to call back it didn't even ring...just went into thin air.  Obviously a telemarketing call of some sort.

Claims to collect for FL HWY Patrol. Tried to sign me for $150 donation. Says donation IS NOT tax deductible. Wanted me to pay by CC, but i'm not stupid. Knowing their shtick, going to give my $20 to a REAL charity!

The caller claims to be collecting for Florida State Troopers, and tries to put me down for a $150 donation! I told him that $20 is all I can manage to send, Then I have my call transfered to a woman who asks if I want to pay by credit card( like i'm stupid enough to do that) and tell her that i'll pay by check. Now that I know the real story behind these guys, that $20 is going to a real charity instead. I knew when they said that my donation was not tax deductible that something was fishy...
