Officer Down Foundation.  Most all the give-money police "foundations" are scams.  They said they had a legit website but I will never give money over the phone.  And...ALWAYS ask who calls you for money "HOW MUCH ACTUALLY GOES TO THE ORGANIZATION YOU ARE CALLING FOR?" 99% will tell you 15% goes to the organization and 85% to the telemarketers.  If they say otherwise, tell them they have to verify it by mail or website.

Got a call from 727-868-6336 today at 12:35 i did not answer because i was not firmiliar with Officer Down Fo...the answering machine picked up but there was no message...I looked the number up and people were saying that it was from Florida If you pick up tell them to take your name off the Call list. If they dont, consult someone.

Got a call at 1:30 p.m.  Left no msg.  Tried to call back to tell them not to call me and got a recording. I was laying down, not feeling well and this harrassment is very inconvenient.  Wish I could personally punch them out.

I live in Tenn. and received a phone call from the Officer Down Foundation today.  The guy said we gave before and wanted to know if they could count on our support again this year.  The guy wanted to know if we could give in a higher bracket this year since they are short on funds.  I asked what the higher bracket might be.  I recall him saying something like $500 to which I promptly laughed and said NO!  He said well the other bracket was still available and he wanted to know if I could give $35, $50, $100, etc.  He was somewhat pushy and asked what amount he could mark me down for.  I questioned him and asked if he expected me to pay right now.  He said no but he wanted to make sure the receipt was included in the mailing that I would receive.  He asked to confirm my first name for the letter he was sending.  He asked to confirm the address. He mentioned something about sending decals as well. He reminded me to promptly pay upon receipt of the information.  I did not have caller ID on my phone so I am not sure what number this guy was calling from.  I have donated to police and fire organizations in the past but typically they are local.  I am going to stick with the local charities after reading this information on the website.  Interesting that I taped Hell's Kitchen yesterday and watched it tonight.  A news program happen to mention something about Officers Down and if money is what they were looking for. I did not hear the news program so I am not sure what was said on the local news.  I went on-line to see what I could find once I saw that small excerpt in the news program.

It said Officer Down Fo...I answered, said hello a couple times, and they hung up. Weird and annoying.

They called a few minutes ago and didn't leave a message when I let the voicemail take the call.  Best to just not give to any phone solicitor or more calls will come in the future as the phone solicitor that you give to will likely make more money selling your number as a hot prospect to other phone beggars, scammers, and telemarketers.  Don't give them a cent!

Got a call tonight from a very rude guy pretending he had called the wrong number. He then said he was from the non profit officers down org. I told him I was not interested and was also on the do not call list. He informed me, that did not include them..since they are non profit. I told him a few more times.. nicely and semi nicely before having to yell a few times more I was not donating. He still would not give up.  I just hung up. I looked online about the place and I keep seeing "scam". I have no idea if it's a scam or not.. but I do know they are way to DEMANDING of my money, for it to be from a police organization. Or I would think anyway.  What I did was go to the FCC website and put in a complaint. It was very easy to do. It did help the info was also on my caller ID with the date and time.  I will now write down if they call again and keep putting in the complaints.

BTW.  I didn't make it to the Phone however I do have it on my caller Id....

after thinking about the call it concerned me as I thought it just may be an Officer  hit and just dialed my number trying to reach help. The Law needs to catch these People because that could happen...Not  likely however not Impossable...........

I agreed to have the caller send me a donation packet so I could get the phone number and address.  I don't have caller  id on that particular phone.  When, or if,  the material arrives, I will report the info to the proper authorities.

I want it stopped.

This is obviously a scam, as I did a reverse search and found it's a private home number of the Colantino's in Hudson, FL.

They are scammers. This is the third call from them within the last 6 months. Always claiming to be some Police Fund. When I informed the guy I was unemployed, without insurance, sick and living with my retired mother the fellow got quite rude and pressured me to pay up JUST $15 a year. I told him that I gave him the reasons I could not give and that he was being rude in pressuring me. He then claimed I was the one being rude and that he was 'merely trying to get off the line so he could call the up to 1200 calls a day that he normal did'. I called him a scammer and and hung up on him. The other calls I have had from this number have been equally frustrating. I am reporting him to my local police agency.

3-17-10 1:16pm - They hung up right after I identified myself and the company I work for.

if you get the call, tell the caller to take your name off the call list. If they don't they can be fined by the government. Then report it on the FCC web site. It's the ONLY way to get rid of these sharks.

I received a call today, didn't answer probably a scam looking to cash in on some unsuspecting person....so sad. Here is who another person said they found out who was and they were soliciting for donations....
