I firmly believe that just like the alledged calls for the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society some of these calls are SPOOF.

After asking for me and getting a yes answer the person at the end of the line immediately hung up.

Somehow someone wants to make sure that you are the person they want to locate and that you do own the phone # they are calling, probably somme credit card or collection agency or "law office".

734 258 1989 is indeed a legit number.

Very few people donate blood, I am frequently asked because I have a rare group and when I can I oblige, but up to now I am always contacted thru e-mail, never by phone.

Very suspicious.

I have the same experience with the blood donation people.  I finally picked up the phone one time and explained that my hemoglobin was too low and my doctor recommended I wait a year, they said ok but then the phone calls kept coming, over and over.  I get them at work (I think that was because I donated at a drive in my office building) and on my cell phone.

I just called that 800 number above and the lady who answered said she would put me on the "Do not call list" so that's good news.

These calls WILL NOT stop!! I've aksed them to remove my name and my work phone from their stupid list - it stops for a few months then starts up again.  It's annoying as hell...
I will NOT donate anymore because these constant calls will not stop.

They call me daily and don't say anything.  They call and hang up.

Here's a nice tip though: If you make an appointment (whether you actually plan on attending or not), they'll stop calling for a good few months. It worked for me.

Just tell them you got a tattoo yesterday. Maybe they'll stop calling for a year. I doubt it, though.

I'm glad this website is here or I wouldn't have known who calls my cell phone EVERY DAY when I'm at work and doesn't leave a message. So annoying.

I'm a donor but I just got two calls where they hung up as soon as I answered.  Strange and annoying.  Does that count as a call on someone's quota?

These people are ridiculous! I keep getting these calls on my cell phone about everyday, every few weeks. I never answer because I don't know the number, however, they always seem to leave the recorded message. Next time I'm going to answer and see if an actual person is only the other side! They probably hang up because they don't want to hear the person say to take them off the call list!!

The Blood Bank!  It's disgusting how they hound you for your blood - and they just SELL it anyway, it's such a racket.  NEVER GIVING BLOOD FOR FREE AGAIN.  You can BUY my blood from now on.

Same here.  I don't know why they use this method to STALK people on the same day that I receive an email from them reminding me that I can give today. THEY CALL ME at work for goodness when I clearly asked that my number be REMOVED from their list.

I have received a call everyday at about 2:00pm, but when I answer they hangup. I have caller Id on my work phone a wrote down the number just to be sure.

These clowns must have my boss' number programed to dial at exactly the same time every morning; followed by a call with no caller ID.  However, he changed locations and never gave them his new number.

I tried to call back, pressed option 2 and no one picked up.  I am forwarding a complaint today to a state agency.  This is absolutely OBNOXIOUS.

They call me almost everyday too! I really am turned off to giving blood because of this. Stop calling!!!

I got a call today.  Left no message.  I've since moved away from NY, and they called me a few months ago and I asked to have my number removed as I have moved.  Why are they still calling?

I logged into my account on NYbloodcenter.org to delete my phone number from my profile. When I tried to access my profile page I received this error:

An error report has been generated and dispatched to our technical support staff. We regret the inconvenience this may have caused you and will strive to prevent this error in the future.

Probably a coincidence but now that I've found out that it's the blood center calling every day, I'm going to try to remove my phone number from my profile online and see if that works. Or, I'll at least put in a fake number ...

I donated blood last year. I'd be more than happy to do it again, but I was in Africa and exposed to Malaria and cannot give blood for awhile (afaik). I informed the Blood Center of this when they called to schedule me for an appointment, and the woman I spoke with wouldn't listen to me. She kept insisting that I go in and discuss it with the doctor, badgering me to make an appointment. Sigh! I finally got my point across that I would not be going in.

Then I started receiving calls from this number several times per day, every day. I don't typically answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, so I kept waiting for whoever it was to leave me a message w/some kind of explanation. It never happened. Finally I dialed the number to see who was calling me so much - more often than any family member or my boyfriend calls me! - and discovered it was the blood bank.

I told them to remove my number from their list, to please not to call me again. I hope it works. It's been a couple of days now and I haven't heard from them, which is unusual :)

Thanks to this site, I finally know who this # belongs to.  They call every single day at my job.  I'm going to request they remove me from their list.  I guess they have the same strategy as a collection agency, except they're looking to collect my blood and not my money.  Noble cause, but stop calling!

I just Googled this # to see who it is.  I don't get hounded by them as much as some people, it seems.  I have not been able to donate blood in a long time due to low iron and they keep calling.  They'll call within a week of me attempting to donate and being rejected.  At least it's not some spammer trying to sell me car insurance for my non-existent car.  I actually feel bad that I can't donate blood.

OMG... these people are rediculous... they call everydayy!!! they hound me to give bloood ... seriously all this is making me never want to donate again. i have told them time and time again to take me off their call list; my iron is low so i cannot donate right now!

I told them if they called me again I'd stop donating, and the still call twice a week.
