Got spam txts for electronic cigarettes.

me too.  Mine was at 9pm and it says "wsup Butch! got a few minutes?"  Thing is its the number I use on my facebook for my deceased dad. The number on my facebook is locked though. I tried to call it back and the mail box is full.

Got a text "Hey Alex, you there?"  Googled the number because I didn't recognize it.  Texted back "wrong number.  Do not call this number again.  Take this number off your telemarketing list."  Text failed, couldn't send.  They have probably blocked receiving texts.  Great, they can cost us money receiving spam texts but we can't return the favor?

I got a text that said: Hey (my name)! You busy?
I said: Umm... Just going into class... Who is this?
"She" said: hey this is jill i wanted to msg u about the ecigs that helped me stop smoking theyre great!

Got "heyyy Gee! u busy?". Went looking for info when I didn't recognize the phone number (a California-based SMS message looks pretty fishy when you're right smack in the middle of Canada ;) ) and landed here. Thanks for the info! :)

Just got this damn message as well. I have been on FB recently so guessing that is what triggered. I am not texting or calling back and hopefully they don't try again. The people at the root of these things must have zero self-respect.

They said that their name was jill and they wanted to help me stop smoking too. Wtf

I just got a text from the same number and they used the name i use on fb also.  i asked who it was and they replied yoo its george i wanted to msg u about the ecigs that helped me give up smoking they're amazing. then sent a link.

Just got the same, "hiii (my name)! got a sec?" It pisses me off to see how easy it is for those people to find people's names and cellphone number

Update: I just got a reply from the mystery texter. It's a damn text-telemarketer telling me about electronic cigarettes.
Brb, gonna mind-screw a poor innocent telemarketer with the power of Zalgo.

Just got a text from this number right now, but the thing is, it used the name I only use on Facebook. So, it's probably a bot (or someone) that got to a number connected to that account. I haven't used the FB account at all though, so maybe it's Facebook asking you get back on in the most creepiest way possible? Unlikely, but maybe?

Yep same message as me at 9:04 AM.  The got the same text from 773-225-0569 at 9:35 AM

I got the same one around 6:30am.  could not call ths back.  clearly no good.

Got the text 2:14am: What up (my name)! Got a few minutes to talk?

Around 7:30am I replied: 2am on a school night? Nope. Who is this?

Not responded seconds later: sorry


I then tried to call, the phone never rang, heard a beep then it hung up

Did they know your name too?  I wonder how this person (or bot) got my name and number.
