I have people calling me, for a person with the same name, who used to live in my town, now they google the guy's name and my info comes up, and once you square it with one of these scum bags, they sell it to another, and it just goes on and on.  I not only get phone calls for this guy, I also receive his bills in the mail, to include his child support invoices, collection agencies, and even correspondence from the IRS.  However, its the phone calls that bother me the most, they call at all hours of the day and night.

I have found the answer to all these annoying calls, it's called the Call Blocker, and it works great. I was looking for the solution to these phone calls, for years, and this is the best solution I have found yet. I bought mine on ebay, and it works like a champ.

Here is a link with the description for the Call Blocker.
http://hqtelecom.com/phone-call-blocker-manual-803/

No, I don't sell them, or have any affiliation with them; I just know this thing works.

These people have been calling my work phone and leaving messages. Today I answered a call from this number and it was a man saying that he is "at his wits end" from trying to get in touch "with you". Never says my name or where they are from and has actually called from four different numbers. I'm interested in what they have to say tomorrow since he's at his wits end today, lol!

http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/bb/debtcollector.htm

Within five days of its first communication to you, the debt collector is responsible for sending you a debt validation notice. This notice should be in writing letter letting you know  you have the right to dispute the validity of the debt within 30 days. The FDCPA allows the collector to include the debt validation notice in the initial communication.

So, if the debt collector?s first communication with you is by phone, you should receive a debt validation letter from them within five days. If the first communication is by letter, that letter might already include the debt validation notice; otherwise, you should soon get another letter including the notice.

If you don?t dispute the debt in writing within 30 days, the debt collector has the right to assume the debt is valid. During the 30 day period, the collector can continue attempts to collect the debt from you until it receives your validation request.

Submitting a Validation Request

To be valid, your request for debt validation must be submitted in writing. You can dispute the entire debt, part of the debt, or request the name of the original creditor. After receiving your dispute, the debt collector cannot contact you until it has provided you with the requested information.

Your debt validation letter should be sent in writing. It?s best to send the letter via certified mail with return receipt requested. This way, you have proof of the letter?s mailing and receipt by the debt collector. If you have to file a lawsuit against the debt collector, the certified and return receipts will help strengthen your case.

Re: Account Number

Dear Debt Collector:
This letter is sent in response to <phone call/letter> received by you on <date>. I am requesting that you provide validation of this debt.

If you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the [your state here] Attorney General?s office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued.

Sincerely,

This is a Note to those of you who do not have outstanding debt.

When you start getting calls it means that someone who has Debt outstanding (even if it was a 20 year younger self), has changed phone numbers and you have the same name.  they do what is called a "Skip Trace" and anyone with the same name (Poor, Poor John Smith) gets relentless phone calls.  Once they determine your address, they will attempt to attach that John Smith to your Credit Report, and UNLESS YOU DISPUTE IT, it sits there un-noticed.  that is of course until someone runs your credit report.

There used to be a short and sweet Article from Dallas Morning News about this:

But, Here is the most current one;

If this IS a debt collector calling, take advantage of https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/helpfaq while they do not have the catchy songs, it is not FREECREDITREPORT.COM which is a debt collector (and charges you money for your free report - as well as monitoring), but "Annual Credit report" is the organization mandated by FTC [Fair Trade Commission] that the big three give you a copy of your credit report FOR FREE, once a year.  KNOW if you have bad information on your report.  Then (and maybe before) check out http://www.bendover.com/creditreporthelp.asp , there are correctly worded documents that issue a CEASE and DESIST letter, to stop harassing Phone Calls and to STOP ZOMBIE Collecting as well.  i.e. this debt is beyond . . . .  and not collectible.  Or Google " Fair Trade Commission Debt "

They started calling me so, here's some skinny from: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Before You Submit a Complaint
The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, collects complaints about companies, business practices, identity theft, and episodes of violence in the media.

Why: Your complaints can help us detect patterns of wrong-doing, and lead to investigations and prosecutions. The FTC enters all complaints it receives into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database that is used by thousands of civil and criminal law enforcement authorities worldwide. P.S. Glenda you picked the wrong house to threaten.  you willingly left your threat on my phone, I have a record of it. AT&T has a Record of it, FTC has a Record of it, You called a Texan and you are not in Texas. That makes it a Federal Matter.  I may not personally get resolution from your harassment.  But this Knowledge will set others free!

We have received several messages from Amber Wright and/or Amber Smith....same as all above - nothing about who they are or why they are calling or even who they are calling for, just that it's important legal documents.  I called them this morning and refused to give my name until they told me who they were trying to reach....they had my mom's name and I told them that I handled all her accounts but they refused to talk to me and still wouldn't tell me who they were or what they wanted.  Yeah, they'll definitely get a return call from me....not!  My mom has been scammed out of money before with these types of people trying to "scare" her into some payment arrangement by telling her they would take legal action.  IT'S ALL A SCAM!!  Don't give them any money!

Debt Collector
There is another well known junk debt buyer in the same area as these people. The other debt buyer sued me on a debt and I beat them in court last October. Several months later, I started getting calls from Amber Knight, Amber Smith, David Wells, etc. Apparently, this CKS Financial buys debts deemed uncollectable by whomever is currently holding them. They probably pay 2 cents on the dollar and then attempt the collect the entire amount.

The reason they use so many non-Virginia phone numbers and never say who they are is their lame attempt at circumventing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The law says that once they have contacted you by phone, they have 5 days to send it to you in writing, and the letter must contain certain information such as, the name of the original creditor and the amount you allegedly owe. They don't want to put it in writing because once they do, the law says you have 30 days to demand validation and once you demand validation, they must cease collection activity until they have provided it. For this reason, they would rather settle for whatever they can bully people into paying using only phone calls.

Ya thank you all for your comments. I was wondering who this Amber Knight was that keeps calling. She calls and so does David. Have any of you actually been summoned to court due to them? I hope not. I've tried calling it back before I read all your posts but it just rings and rings, no one ever picks up....but fine with me.

Seriously! Second day in a row these people called us! David Wells and Amber Knight! We have no credit card debts! We don't even own a credit card! If me or my husband owes money on some debt, where is the written documentation? Can you provide that first? Demanding payment or a payment plan to be set up first isn't going to happen. Give us the written documentation proof we owe such debt! If you can't, forget scamming us for the money! Just because you have my husbands social security number doesn't prove this supposed debt is valid! And it doesn't threaten or intimidate either one of us! Get lost people! I hope that you both end up in jail for life!

Amber Smith / Amber Knight,

Clearly is trying to collect money from me on an old HSBC credit card. Yes, I admit I defaulted and I owe the money. However, the calls at night at work and my cell phone?? I sware I will not pay a single until a judge orders me to pay. If they file a law suit, I will counter sue for harassment, as I have all of the calls with dates and times saved.

Amber Knight called three days in a row; same message first two times then switched it up saying this wasn't a solicitation. Then two days later David Wells called twice; same message both times. Now two new names to add to the list. Ashley Butler and Mrs. Harris. Claiming to have preliminary paperwork and needing a statement or needing to get current address for legal required notice. As stated above no company name or who they were looking for in the messages.
