A debt collection agency with a Virginia number. The name they used with me was Meghan Gavin from CKS Financial Services. They called several times over the past few months about someone who is supposedly using the same phone number as me. Usually I just ignore the call, but today questioned them on why they are calling and who they are looking for. They got a bit frazzled and said they would remove my number from their files, lets see if it works.

Got calls from Amber Knight from this number and 306-200-1101. Never says what it is about and doesn't say our name. Can't understand why they can't be shut down. Very annoying.

This number called my work number saying the samething about receiving paperwork. They did not state what company they were with so in this case it is probably a scam. I have reported to my company and have them on block.

I got the same message from an Amber Knight with exact phrase of "This is Amber McKnight . My office just received some paperwork that involves you. I would to give the opportunity to provide your own input regarding this matter, I don't think you aware because of the situation, please take the time to return my call I can be reached at 757-296-0106, again my number is 757-296-0106 . Thank you for your time ." It's NOT a law firm. They CAN'T get anything from you.

My wife and I just got the same call from the same number. They left a VM saying they were looking for my wife in regards to our sister-in-law....man they must be in some serious doo doo but the bigger question is why would they call the relatives?? Ridiculous and kind of harrassing.
Theresa 2014-04-08 17:18:25 Unknown
They have called several times. gives the name of Amber, says paper work concerning us has crossed her desk. Its a personal matter, Bunch of a balogny. We haven't applied for any credit. Not in debt, house payments on time, Our cars are paid in full. They Never say our name. It is either they are looking for someone else or they are misdialed or even scammers. If they get the answer phone they don't leave message. When I answer its a recording. So if they were trying to contact someone, They would speak..
JAFO 2014-04-07 16:36:46 Unknown
They called my number so I messed with them using a free prank call site, lol. http://www.prankdial.com/
It's so much fun messing with ignorant people, lol.
JAFO 2014-04-07 16:32:59 Unknown
No worries Gang. Just get on Google phone and call their number 1,000 times. Just dial their number and end the call. Hit redial and end, redial and end, and so on, lol. I got about 1,000 calls in. It took about 15 mins but it was fun. It makes them lose their cool. File a report with the FTC or play my phone game, hehehe.
They broke my rights so I messed with them. They called me 3 times on 1 day, which is a FDCPA violation.

Do not give these people any personal info. called left somewhat threatening message. was evasive as far as giving answers to my questions about so called account I was suppose to have had with a credit card company. would not or could not give back ground info as to how they got my address. refused to send me anything in writing to verify who they are. address show for there company is not the address I was given on the phone. beware of these scammers. report them to the authorities.
Jackie 2014-02-18 01:48:33 Unknown

Knowing your rights helps. If you get calls where they do not represent them selves as debt collectors, and do not send you written notice of debt with in 5 days of first contact there can be legal recourse on your side. They have to prove the debt if you ask them to. They also can not misrepresent legal paperwork or preceding's. Go to https://help.consumerfinance.gov and report them. What they do is a violation of your rights. It will not get your legitimate debt to go away but will keep them from continuing this I am reporting them now. This is true for all credit collectors.

Jeez, calm down. From your comments, it's apparent YOU don't know the law. If you do, I'd bet a million bucks that I know more "law" than you.

} Pay you [sic] bills and you will have collectors calling
You're so right. Every month I pay all my bills on time and in full. In fact, I'm well ahead on one of them. Nonetheless, two different scofflaw agencies have dialed me this month alone. Every few weeks of 2013 another lawbreaking, predictive dialing, call-abandoning, Foti-messaging debt collector disturbed my peace, always looking for some total stranger and doubtless working lazily from hopelessly corrupt junk debt files.
I already have learned "the law", namely FDCPA and some parallel state laws, long before you built your picket fence of exclamation points. Not one line bars an agency from naming an alleged debtor. It's absurd to try locating an alleged debtor named "Hey You" or "That Guy". Maybe you have cloak-and-dagger house rules out of morbid fear of claims of privacy breach, or to help create false anxiety, but don't confuse them with statutory mandates.

CHESAPEAKE
CKS Financial LLC, a debt-collection company based in Chesapeake, plans to add about 120 jobs by the end of 2012.
The company expects to hire 41 workers this year and another 80 or so next year, said John Sanders, its director of operations. Collection-agent positions will pay between $20,000 and $29,000 a year, he said.
For every 10 agents, CKS typically hires a manager at an annual salary of $33,000 to $45,000. The company also expects to need more employees for dispute resolution and customer service, Sanders said. CKS currently employs about 25 workers.
The new staffing is needed with projections that CKS' revenue will quadruple this year compared with 2010, Sanders said. The company saw revenue grow about 300 percent between 2009 and 2010, he said.
"We have exceeded our expected growth," Sanders said.
Anyone interested in a job should visit the CKS website at www.cksfin.com, click on the "contact" link and fill in a request for an application or more information.
Cdyne Corp., a software company, bought Sanders & Associates in 2009 and changed its name to CKS Financial. The new owner spent the past two years organizing and ramping up the collection business and now is focusing on growth, said William Chenoweth, Cdyne's vice president of marketing sales.
CKS Financial is in the process of finalizing a new office within the city about five times the size of its current space, Chenoweth said. The company doesn't disclose its location, because it pursues debt from consumers who might try to find its employees, Chenoweth said.
