This old spoofed number has been resurrected by the card services scammers for some further use in their fraudulent activities!

Received a message offering to lower the interest rates on my credit cards. Sounds like a "card services" scam.

I also confirmed they are CKS Debt Collection.  In my case, however, I received a call in which the caller ID showed as "anonymous...757-296-0116".  When I call that number there is a recording that explains (summary) that the phone number belonging to this company was illegally used by another party as part of a phone scam operation...and the message also mentioned that you should contact the FCC to file your own complain and reference an existing case number. The case number was provided in message.   At the end of that recording, the person said that if you "had an existing case on file" with the company, you should call 800-xxx-xxxx (I am not posting that phone number here).

When I called the 800 number, the person answering the phone was unwilling to identify the name of the company.  I pressed for various other pieces of information.  The woman also indicated she had no knowledge of the 757 phone number I mentioned or the associated recording about a phone scam.  She then asked if I would hold while she asked someone else for assistance.   I was transferred to another person who did provide his name and he confirmed the name of his company was CKS Debt Collection.   He also confirmed that the company does have a presence in Virginia...thus the original caller ID area code of 757.

Obviously, all of this could be a part of the scam, and I have no way to know what is factual but I offer these details in case others are interested.   It does seem odd to me, however, that CKS (or whomever they are) was able to establish an automated dialer to disseminate the information included in the recorded message.  Assuming this whole scenario is possible, I wonder if they were able to get a list of phone numbers who were called as a part of the "scam" effort that used the phone number belonging to CKS Debt Collection in order to set up their automated call to tell you about the scam.  I dunno.

I have people calling me, for a person with the same name, who used to live in my town, now they google the guy's name and my info comes up, and once you square it with one of these scum bags, they sell it to another, and it just goes on and on.  I not only get phone calls for this guy, I also receive his bills in the mail, to include his child support invoices, collection agencies, and even correspondence from the IRS.  However, its the phone calls that bother me the most, they call at all hours of the day and night.

I have found the answer to all these annoying calls, it's called the Call Blocker, and it works great. I was looking for the solution to these phone calls, for years, and this is the best solution I have found yet. I bought mine on ebay, and it works like a champ.

Here is a link with the description for the Call Blocker.

No, I don't sell them, or have any affiliation with them; I just know this thing works.

It's CKS Debt Collection.  I just called and asked who they were.  They are also affiliated with numbers calling from Boca Raton, FL, Washington, DC, and various other VA numbers.  They are not lawyers, just debt collectors.  If they are harassing, you have a right to do something about it.

Every day i get a call from this number saying this is a debt collector. I have an app on my phone that blocks any calls i want, i have them blocked for this reason. They call me every day with the same message the person is a male does not state his name or the company which makes me think this is a scam. I called to see what the deal was about, and a woman answered and said that she could not disclose any information if i did not giver her my name or the company that she is from. I hung up because that totally told me this is a scam, i want them to quit calling me. I don't listen to their message i just let the app answer and it hungs up for me that way i don't get a voicemail. Is there anything i can do for them to stop calling me?

I literally just got the samething happen to me a few mintues ago. I got a female saying she needed to verify some information and to call so she can discuss the matter at hand. Message did not say what company, what her name was. So I called the number and a guy answers the phone, all he said was "Hello". So I asked what company is this, he said he was David Wells. I said a female said to call this number to verify my information. The he asked for that information. So I said no company name, no female, no information. Then hung up.

don't know why they are calling me, but what i do know is that if someone is serving you, they just serve you.  they don't call people and give them a heads up on when where and how they are going to be served... a process server to goes out and serves them.  so, this is nothing more than a scare tactic.  in this economy, who gives a damn about being sued...claim to be a pauper with no money to pay for anything...run up their legal fees and then still not pay them anything.  dumbasses.  kindness really does work.

For the last week several times a day I have been getting calls from a "Virginia" number that I see others have received too.  I've called back afterwards and after about 3 dozen rings I finally got a voice recording saying to leave a message.  I did advising them that I owe now debt and if I do send it to me in writing and stop calling me.  I've blocked the one number and looks like I'll have to block the others too.  How nice they want to talk to you urgently and then they can't pick up the phone when you call back.

Associated with other numbers, 757-296-0105,  757-204-6319,  757-296-0116,  Evidently these people are on a roll randomly calling people, harassing them for money $$$ from very old debts that either, 1. you might know the person,  2. a former spouse, 3.  or just calling you for the heck of it to see if their scare tactic might work and you send money.  THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS, SCUM BUCKETS FROM HELL. They live off of the innocent people. These debts have been written off and are no longer in statute. BLOCK THIS NUMBER FROM YOUR PHONE.  Call your phone company and have them block number. Report to the Fair Credit Authority in your state and also the BBB. They are bottom feeders. DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU OR INTIMIDATE YOU TO SEND MONEY TO THEM.  YOU DO NOT OWE IT!!!!!  DEBT IS NO LONGER VALID.  IGNORE THEM,  HANG UP ON THEM,  BLOW A WHISTLE IN THEIR EAR IF YOU CAN.  AGAIN,  DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU OR INTIMDATE YOU!!!!

These people use scare tactics to try to get you to admit to a debt (usually a payday loan) and then try to get your banking information from you in order to debit your account for the so-called debt. Do not give them any information. As a matter of fact, ignoring them is better. No one can arrest you or make you "turn yourself in" to a court for a debt.

The caller doesn't say her name but says she needs to verify my address to send legal notice.  She won't say what it's about, and she won't stop calling.  I've gotten calls from a similar number (757-296-0105) from someone claiming to be "David Welch" with a similar sounding scam.  They call quite often, and I don't know whether it is better to just let it go to the answering machine, or whether to try to catch then one of these times and yell at them to stop calling.  Which gets rid of them faster?  I hope they're caught soon.

They continue to call me too to verify my address to send over legal documents and keep threatening me for the last 6 months that they will come to my workplace if i don't cooperate, but they never show up and they do not even know where I work now and at the time they started telling me this, I was unemployed.. they also tell me i have a chance to settle the matter with the "creditor" before it will be escalated. They are JUST a collection agency. They may have the right to sue clients but at this point they're just using scare tactics. I worked in collections for 8 years I know that's against the law to say you're going to sue if you don't legally have the intent to do so!

I have received 3 messages in 3 days, one from a woman (Amber?) and 2 from David Wells.  My script was a little different: They received my paperwork and need me to return their call before they escalate the claim.  However, when I return the call, no one answers and there is no VM.  Sounds to me like a scam!
