These people have been calling me for over two weeks.  I do not answer and they leave message saying they are Anchor Recovery Mgmt regarding an outstanding debt.  No idea what they want.

caller asks if I am Francoise, then asks for the last four numbers of my Social Security number to verify my account.

I keep getting harassed, regarding a non-valid debt from 15 years ago. I've asked this company several times to mail me information regarding their claim, and they blatantly refuse. Here are some other numbers for Portfolio Recoveries: Just add their numbers to a block list.

I receive these calls daily, however, I'm not home during the call times. They also call from 757-961-3545. I called this number back, was asked to press 1 for English, then was told who it was "Portfolio Recoveries" waited some more, nothing but dead air. This is ridiculous.

They called me and left a message and said they were debt collectors.... but not for me. They left some random name.

They keep calling me twice a day morning and afternoon. Sometimes they left a message to call back to a 1800. I just never answer a call from a number that I don't know, or which number is from an other area code.

2 more thoughts: first, "portfolio recovery" might be a ruse for a company that would prey on someone whose stock portfolio had taken a beating. 2) given the different names, this could be a computer building up a database of numbers that work, even though I think this is illegal in the U.S. unless they found a loophole.

I got a call just now from this number and it showed up as "Portfolio Recovery" with the last letters cut off.

i receive a call from this # about 2x a week. it is usually in the evening, sometimes as late as 9pm. there is an automated message for some guy (alan ray martinez) to call them back at a different 8oo#. i have not called the number they leave, but have attempted to redail the incoming call and i was dumped into some switchboard that does not allow you to speak with a person.

seriously it is annoying i wish the cell phone companies do something about this

This number called anD my Mom answered the call and they were asking for my boyfriend's sister.  They said they were calling from Portfolio Recovery as well.  I have no idea how they would have gotten my phone number as a her contact number!  We told them not to call anymore...

Update: I found the Portfolio Customer number at their website & called it. I told them to stop calling my cell phone and hanging up/leaving no msg. The operator seemed very surprised to hear that they were calling me, since I wasn't "on their list;" She said she would put in a ticket to their service dept to have my number removed. We will see...

Received 2 calls 4/12, 1 on 4/14, 1 on 4/15, 2 on 4/16, 1 on 4/17, 1 on 4/22. No one there when I answered one of the calls. No msgs left. Searching on the area code indicates it is from Norfolk Va region.

Same thing with me. No one answers the phone when I pick it up and when I call them back it goes to answering machine. No one picks up the phone

I too get calls from this number to my cell...uses up my cell minutes and sometimes no on speaks when I answer, then at times the caller asks for a wild name?...ALL of us should keep contacting the FCC, et al, and tell them about our experience with calls from 757-321-6278, which looks to be from Norfork, Va., carried by/via Cox Telecom., and have the FCC, FTC, Cox Telecom, your Congressman, etc., shut this number/caller down!!!

Same here. Calls about every 2-3 days, drops the call. Not sure why they're calling, but am concerned about it being scam... particularly given other people's concerns above. I don't live in the 757 area code and don't know anyone there, so it's definitely someone phishing for victims. The FCC or someone should investigate this number.

They kept calling and either hanging-up or not leaving a message. After reading these forums and seeing a continued pattern of abuse for this company and their phone number, I decided to call them back -- naturally, no one answered, but I did get a machine. On the machine, I left this short message:

This is xxx-xxx-xxxx (only gave phone number, not my name in case they are phishing). I have received repeated calls and hang-ups from your telephone number. The number you are calling is on the National Do Not Call Registry (donotcall.gov). Please either call and state your purpose in calling, or do not call this number. If you call again and either hang-up or do not leave a message, I will report you to both the Attoney General and the National Do Not Call Registry. Once again, this is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Should you call, please inform me of your purpose, or I will notify the National Do Not Call Registry and the Attoney General that you are in repeated violations of Federal statues. Please remove my number from your telephone list if you have no valid purpose for calling me. Thank you.

They call me almost everyday and when I answer they hang up. They dont even leave a message. I just want it to end!

Called my cell phone at 8 in the morning.  I did not answer and they left no messages.

I believe this is "Portfolio Recovery".  They call from a 757-321-6270 number as well.

I am getting phone calls from this number several times a week and everytime there is no message and if I answer there is never anybody there. They have also call from number 757-321-6270

They've called my number several times over the past couple of weeks.  There's never anyone at the other end - only dead air.  One day, I called them & discovered that they were looking for my husband's nephew.  My husband informed his brother who discovered web sites such as this one.  He called & told them not to contact us anymore.  He also filed a complaint with the feds.

I get calls daily on my cell from this company asking for someone I don't know; they're always voicemails and I don't keep my cell "on" so I don't hear them until way after they've called. I think that there are many people out there who "know" about how to use phone numbers to get "credit." They verify that someone's cell phone number is "real" and then they give a fake name to get credit. I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone who WORKS for this collection agency because they'd be the most likely people who have access to cell phone numbers!

I too receive these calls 2-3 times per day. I answered a couple times and they asked for "Butch", I told them they have the wrong number.  They continue to call me everyday anyway.  I don't answer their calls anymore.  They leave no messages.  I am so annoyed.  I don't want to change my number again because I may have the same problem with that number.  I will definitely report them to the National Do Not Call Registry.

This type of phone abuse needs to be stopped!  I get numerous calls from this "company" each day.  They never leave a message and if I answer, nobody responds (machine) OR if I call back, it just rings and rings.  

Please report this company!!!

Got a call just now, Caller ID said Portfolio recovery. It was an automated caller, and asked for someone similiar to my name, I pressed one to acknowledge I was that person (since I had no idea what this was about) and then it asked for my last 4 of my social. I put in 0000. It then said to call Anchor Receivables Management at 866-879-2116. I reported both numbers to the do not call list

Got the same issue everyone else has. I called the number back and left an angry message asking them to stop calling. I also went to the FTC's website and filed a complaint.

Calls my number and never says anything, I am on the national do not call list and will be reporting them.
