Well Mr. K (note the capital K!), not a bad idea and with many merits. However, there should be a bit of extreme pain and sufferin' first. Then remove them from our misery.

I am not a homeowner..Thiese company names--must be affiliated. I wonder if these people are wearing a coward's full facemask as they dial your number. FEAR and SHAME, not for working there, but for HANGING UP IMMEDIATELY if you ask a question!. Forget about being removedfrom their list. Since they are not woking for a top rated company A SCAM MUST BE WORKED. SHAME !!!!!

Was a security company when they called me. Was on a cellphone so did not see company name. I wonder whatever happened to the debt collectors with the same name

They called about 4 hours ago (6:30 p.m. EDT). I don't answer unknown callers and I had company. Caller ID says PORTFOLIO RECOV. I don't have any portfolio to recover LOL! There is no message left. When I call the # I get a busy signal, something very rare these days.

Don't ignore/block/report them. It doesn't work. These folks want you to ignore them for as long as you can stand to or until you give them something valuable like money or information. Ignoring them is being their good customer. Sending a cease and desist is giving information. It lets them know you are still alive and remain their good customer. Preparing to initiate unlikely individual legal battles is being their good customer.
Be their bad customer. Make them talk to you fruitlessly for as long as they can stand to or until they stop selecting you as their customer. These companies cannot spend seconds much less minutes on the phone with every person who will never send them a dime. But they don't know who that is. You do. That knowledge is power. Every second you can keep their staff on the phone will render their business less profitable giving them a reason to never call you again.
Calling will not reset your SOL. Making a partial payment will.
I like to ask general questions they should but usually won't answer, "May I have the name and address of your agent for service of process?" Calmly and slowly ask them to spell every word in the address. Read it back for verification. Control the pace. If they are rushing then politely ask them to slowly repeat. "Are you a corporation and if so in which state are you incorporated?" Repeat your questions when you don't get direct answers. When they won't answer a question ask, "Would you like to comply with the business and professions codes of your state?" That is usually the point when they hang up on me but if they say they want to comply then begin your questions again.
Repeat while you have the spare time. These folks have many victims and few operators. If everyone calls back but pays nothing the mass auto-dialer business model becomes unprofitable. Don't aide and comfort the enemy by ignoring them. Call! Have a nice long slow friendly chat! Make them hang up first.
Press 2 for Spanish.
For any business, customers who consume the most resources but don't pay (or otherwise add value) become the least desirable. Most businesses will stop (cease and desist) soliciting an undesirable customer. Those that don't stop remain knowingly vulnerable to the actions of their undesirable customers. Few companies can afford to let everyone take a piece of them whenever they want endlessly. For instance they must pay staff to answer everyone's telephone calls which can be placed at your convenience for the joy of it. Call and consume their operator time without paying or giving information. Be a bad customer. The worst customer. Inspire them to invoke their right to refuse you service by not soliciting you.
There are certainly enough victims to take down this company so ignoring/blocking seems downright Orwellian to me. Really? We're just going to passively submit and go with a block list or however we manage ignoring an endless stream of unwanted phone calls day after day? Hell no! Unite or remain conquered. Answer/return every call - become well practiced at keeping these folks on the phone - or count yourself not amongst the free.

Today I pressed "1" was put in que for three minutes when a female answered indicating a security company
I asked her for her name and home phone number so I could call anytime I desired - her response was "f*** you a***ole and hung up!
At least we all know portfolio recovery hires only the best!!!!!@

Recording about security system.......... getting at least two calls a day. Numerous times have pressed "2" to be removed from list, hasn't worked because they continue to call. Held on to speak to representative twice - 10-15 minutes. Asked them to remove my number, both times they hung up on me - guy said, "I know, I know" . I'm on the "Do Not Call List". If I want a security system I will call someone, they don't need to call me.

Best to not even answer these calls. Once they know it is a valid number they sell it to telemarketers. They don't even have to be selling anything. If you are offensive to them, they make sure your number is sold. I save them as ZZ-junk and that shows when they call again.
Same for junk e-mail. Don't even open ir. Your e-mail address is reported back to the sender and they sell it.
Since I stopped answering/opening junk calls/mail they seemed to have diminished over the last 5 months.

Number keeps calling leaving message on voice mail. When I try to call the number directly line goes busy. I am assume that they do not take incoming calls because they are not a legitmate company. I am on the No Call list in my state and can't figure out how they got my number.

The noise we hear on the other end should be the sound of 2 .45 cal hollow points going off for each of them. Worthless POS's.

Normally the ol' zip zapper would suggest a good swift beating for these criminals - where it hurts - in the wallet. They belong in jail as some killers play toy. Usually Zip Zapper suggests that someone out there knows where these criminals live and play -- so tar and feather them and run them out of town.
However, today, zip zapper feels a bit more kind and finds favor on the toying with them for a while as suggested above by dounome987... then beat them in the wallet and tar and feather them and let bubba have his turn and...

Unknown number and don't leave message . No caller id
| Lola 2013-05-03 16:14:51 Unknown |
You would think they would be smart enough to spoof a different name on the caller id, lol
I remember dealing with these frauds years ago when they were still "debt collectors", and now I get to deal with them all over again trying to sell me a security system. I didn't have my whistle handy today, so I put the phone on speaker and let them listen to what I was watching on Netflix.

Caller ID says this is "PORTFOLIO RECOV" Recorded message starts with "Do not hang up, This is not a sales call?" and begins with an offer for a home security system. OK, I pressed 1. Talked with "Jenna" who identified her company as Security Technologies, but she said it so fast that I'm not sure that is the real name of the company.
Obviously, this is a telemarketer.
I asked her one question: "Can you tell me where your company is located?" She immediately hung up.
I had previously used a company address to find a REAL culprit in TX and called him and got him to admit to using a telemarketing company. I think he will have stopped the telemarketing now, because I published his number.
Obviously this is a scam. Nobody should do business with any company that calls numbers on the federal do not call list. I have reported this to the Do Not Call Registry, but I'm happy to notify people here that the portfolio recovery company and the security technologies company is the same: A telemarketing phone bank that is all to happy to violate federal laws.

Got a call from 757-321-6279 BUT, it was for a Free Home Security system. Spoke with Gaines from Security Technologies @ a free Home Security system.
What was stranage was Gains said he was with Security Technologies, Caller ID said Portfolio Recovery (which is a Debt recovery company). So what I did, while on the Phone with Gaines from Security Technologies I dialed the Phone # back while he was on the Phone and put it on Speaker for him. He then got off his script and started to get nasty. He did not like the fact that I called him out that he was spoofing his phone Number.
So, I called the Phone Number back and spoke with the Phone Operator, they are a Real company (Debt collection) I told her thier phone # is being Spoofed.
