No it's people either giving fake numbers, or lost their phone numbers and now others have it, when applying for or buying credit, loans, merchandise.

I've been asked if I'm 4 different people from the same number over the past 2 days from this number(and have had others in the past).  When I told them no they would ask if I knew where they were.  Told them if I knew where they were I'd let them know where to pick them up.

I HAVE HAD THIS CALL SEVERAL TIMES.  MY CALLER ID SAYS IT IS PORTFOLIO RECOVERY.  DO THEY THINK I AM STUPID?  IF I HAD A PORTFOLIO,  THEY WOULD NOT GET A CHANCE AT IT.

This number constantly shows up on my caller id. I've asked them to quite calling and they still do

I receive calls nearly daily on my home phone from an unknown company at 757-321-6280. They just call several times a day and don't leave any message so it's probably a wrong number. This is annoying. How can I block this number?

Portfolio Recovery Associates are going to be profiled tonight on NBC at 10pm EST. The owners have felony convictions! Their tactics are detestable.

Portfolio Recovery Services.  Called saying I still owe a past due payment on my JC Penny account.  In typical fashion, they love to scream and never let you get a word in.  Unfortunately for them, I paid this debt off in full, to them, in May 2008 - almost a year ago.  Fortunately, I have copies of my canceled check, bank statement showing they cashed the check, and the original letter from them agreeing to the payoff terms.

When you have to deal with these jerks, NEVER throw away anything -- for life!!!  This company approched me about 3 year's ago with the same sort of thing - paid debt that they claim was never settled.  But after searching the Internet, it appears Portfolio Recovery has a track record of trying to collect on paid debts multiple times over.


I just don't know why the gov hasn't shut these thieves down yet???

Someone called my dad's number twice yesterday asking for me, and they even knew my dad's name.

They just keep calling....every other day and twice on that very day. One call in the am, another in the pm. They even call on the weekend!!!! How annoying. I dont know who they are calling for or what they want. They never leave a msg.

called asking for husband. soon as I said he wasn't home they hung up.  We have been getting calls for written off debt for a while from these bums. Tired of companies buying bad debts.  If their last known address for us is from 11 years ago they bought something out of date and are just fishing for money.  They aren't getting it!! Not even on our credit report anymore.

These jerkwads just called my WORK cell phone, which isn't even in my  name, about a Nicor bill I supposedly owe from the 90's.  I told him this was not my phone, it was my work Blackberry and that he was not allowed to call me about a debt I didn't owe.  He tried to coerce me into confirming my Social Security # and I told him that no, I was not giving him the last 4-digits of my Social.  Then he said (and I quote), "Ok, fine, you want to play it that way?  We're going to stalk you at your home EVERY DAY until you give us our money!"  I told him to cram it with walnuts and hung up.  What an asshat!

They claimed I owe money to a Capitol One Account from the earl- mid 90's.

Bahahaha they keep calling on a charged off debt from 9 years ago. I used the link above and reported them to the Federal Communications Commission. I encourage everyone else to do the same. Let's put the bottom feeder out of business!

Calls all the time, I told them many times they have the wrong number but they just say "Suuuuuuuure".
Complaints to the FTC and FCC should do the trick.... or I will pretend I AM the person they are looking for and mess with their little brains. LOL

THEY CALL EVERYDAY I'M SICK OF THEM

This company has been calling my cell phone everyday at the same time, between 2:00 - 2:30 PM.  Who are they and how did they get my cell phone number.  Just comes up Unknown with the phone number.How do I report this.
