This afternoon was the first time a scum bag from MPI trying running a scam on me. I was unaware, until reading this forum, that this outfit hires felons to make their calls. Initially, I had trouble making sense of why an organization called, "Midwest Publishing" would be making unsolicited phone calls trying to scam money claiming to be representing "California Firefighters."

I don't think he will be calling my number again.

Actually I might just ask the person for their name and phone number and start calling repeatedly. If a caller hangs up dont keep trying to reach them. It should be a sign they will nant nothing to do with you.

First I got a call from Unknown Caller at 8:30pm, no one on the line, then I got a call at 8:40pm (both same night, a Sunday night!) and they knew my name!!!  I asked who this company was and they said MPI, Midwest Publishing Inc... I told them to LEAVE ME ALONE AND STOP CALLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I don't care WHO they are or what charity they are with or not, they are UNSOLICITED CALLS and I don't want them!!!!!  Especially at 8:30pm on a Sunday night!

I work for MPI. Our job is to take your money. If not your money, then your mother's money, your grandmother's money, your daughter's money, etc. We don't care if we have to lie to you to get your money. It's true that we only give 15% or less to the charities we fund raise for. But who cares? They're not doing it so what the hell do you expect. I'm trying to get a new car, my girlfriend needs some new shoes, and I have to stay flossin on these darkies. I'm writing this while drunk so I don't care if you get mad and I run MPI so they'll never fire me.

We operate at 1919 University Ave. in St. Paul, MN if any of you want to come see me. I have goons that work for me that will beat you to a bloody pulp. Most of the people that work for us have criminal records, so you don't want to mess with us. We hire them to get a WOTC from the government. It really helps us save on payroll. I mean, I like some of those darkies, but they're just to dirty to ever truly be my friend. The truth is, if they don't make money for us, we get force them out. They are easily riled up, so all it takes is a little prodding to get them out the door.

Anyways, what we do is get a contract from some organization like the Florida Highway Patrol Command Association or the Nation Association of Chiefs of Police or a Breast Cancer Society. Cops are cool but they're broke so they'll take anything they can get in terms of funding. Breast Cancer people are the same way, they're just so desperate for money that they allow us to fundraise for them. If communities were more involved in fundraising for these organizations, they wouldn't turn to us. We give them 15% or less of everything we raise and our pledges start at $75, $50, or $35. We like to target the elderly, disabled, and retired because we just can't get enough of those government checks. They put a nice chain on my neck and the bi****s love me. I love talking an old lady out of her social security check, it just brightens my day.

This old lady I talked to once gave me a sob story about how her husband had just died and that she was going through a foreclosure. Cry me a river. I guilt tripped her about the lives that would be lost and the children that would suffer if she didn't donate to us. She ended up pledging $100, thanks to my charm. I love MPI, I get paid and there is nothing you losers can do to stop it. Quit complaining and let me get money. I understand that alot of you don't like giving money to darkies, to be honest they only get paid $8/hour. I get paid way more than that so you're not giving all of your money to darkies, you're giving most of it to a very handsome guy.

We got a call today & yesterday from MPI for some Police thing. The number said unknown but I googled MPI police donations & came across this. The call was disturbing. The guy kept saying oh is she not home when I said the woman of the household was not available so then he says so she's not home then & would not listen when I said she was unavailable. Same guy Stephen called again today & we told him no we were not interested in donating any money to his fund.

I also worked there and while the co-workers are great people, the managment totally sucks and would stab you in the back in a heartbeat! They run continous help wanted ads because they use you up and get rid of you. I will however add that they do follow all the rules for fundraising for the different states they solicit in. I will also add that they generally only give 10-15 % of what they collect to the individual charities. As for overhead- Ha! thats a joke!. It is a private company and the owners are multimillionaires and they don't pay s*** to thier help (w/the exception of those who handle the commercial accts.) I'd have to be hurting real bad to go back there and prey and the people they continually call( A lot seniors, hispanics, past donors etc.) As far as I am concerned they are a scam but to be fair, many fundraising companies and the 501(c)'s they raise for are also scams! Stick to the Salvation Army or volunteer your time if you want to help out.

p.s. Dave G. @ BR office is a pompous a***ole!

In November of 2010, I was called, surprisingly out of the blue, by a nice gentleman with MPI asking for a donation of $75 for Illinois Police Retirment fund, or something along that line. At the time, my job was good and I was making decent money so I said absolutely I would donate money to their cause. It was getting closer to Christmas and I was feeling generous. Well I work for a computer contracting company and our company was let go two weeks into the month December and I was out of a job. Let's just say that times got very rough really quick.
I received the piece of mail from MPI a week or so later asking for my donation. I promptly threw it in the trash because I knew there was no way we could donate anything to anyone for a while until I found a new job. Needless to say I received harassing phone calls for weeks on end from MPI "requesting" that I send in my donation. The requests started turning into demands and I started feeling threatened by them. I wrote them a letter and kindly asked them to never contact me again for any further donations. Fast forward to March of 2012, I still receive calls from them asking for donations and I just politely reply no thank you and take me off of your call list. A month later, I'm sure I'll get another phone call.
Trying to be generous to this company one time has turned into a big mistake and I guess I'm going to get harassed by them for a very long time.

I don't know if it varies by office to office. But we are requiered to mention we are a paid caller with MPI. And I had someone tell me they had receieved 5 phone calls in one day from us, I don't know if it's something in the system or if its the other offices calling these same numbers. As for times I think the last calls go out at 9pm which seems to be ok to me since most people will be at home at that time.

I work MPI as well, and I agree with what your trying to explain in your message, I just can't aprove of how it's written. I can't believe people actually take the time to cuss in a written message. Not all of us at MPI behave this way.
They don't do back ground checks for people who make the calls, but the people that will be prossesing people's card information are clear of any felonies. I do enjoy working here, it's a great job for students or moms and if you made some mistakes in the past, this company is willing to give you a chance to get back on track.
You get your point across but you make the rest of MPI workers look very bad.

Please.  "A company raises 1 million dollars..." (by misrepresenting itself)and you get 15% of that for doing absoloutly nothing (except letting your good name be dragged through the mud.)  Blah, blah, blah, whine....so much hard work for so little reward.  I'm sure our hearts all go out to you.

i get the same thing most others are getting. calling periodically at various times of day. hangups on answering machine. they even call on sunday. i dont understand the point of not saying anything. that makes me wonder if they are spoofed calls or someone verifying that it's still a good number for other purposes. you never know these days.

The name that appears on my caller ID for this number is Randy Korvcinsk.  When I called back the recording identifies the caller as the "Information Fundraising Center". My number is on the national "Do Not Call" list but apparently this number gets through, they give you no option in the recording to add your number to their no call list.

Got a call this morning from 757-512-5888 and the guy said that he's from VA police and they have a fund raising campaign. Since I don't know the number I just hang up minutes later my wife's credit card company called regarding a suspicious activity with her credit card account.
