For the past few months I have been getting calls from 7576227382 (a la caller id) at the oddest hours.  This mornings call was at 12:24 AM. There is always silence when I answer.  What gives?

Caller ID info reads:
FOUNDATION TO S (the rest is cut off)
Telephone number listed: 757-622-7382
Call received at: 2:22AM on Wed.9/2/09

At 2:22 AM I received this call and although I knew I was "connected", there were no sounds and no voices on the other line. I reapetedly said, "Hello, who is this?" with no reply. It was very strange and kind of eerie in the middle of the night. I just dialed this number (the following afternoon) and it does go into a PETA voicemail greeting with a menu of options. I pressed O to speak with the operator. Instead, I was transferred and another brief voicemail message was played saying that they have received numerous reports that people are getting calls from PETA in the middle of the night and are experiencing "ghost calls or dead air calls" and they (PETA) assures the caller that the calls are not originated from PETA. Hmmmm. I wonder why I didn't get to actually speak to an operator about this? The voicemail message asks the caller to please leave their name, telephone number with area code and the time that the call was received and said they are working to resolve this matter.

This number appeared on my credit card with a $16 charge, allegedly as a donation to PETA.  I never authorized that charge.  Check your credit card statements!

i did not get a call from this number but it is a number from PETA the animal charity.
i have not idea how people get these calls i mean you must of called that company up and as far as the charge i dont know but you must of donated it to PETA. but i would be happy if they got the money. i would much rather give my money to peta than i would any one else you find out about. if your gonna get ''charged'' for some thing you claim have no clue about thats one charity i would be happy about since its going to the animals to help them.

WOULD YOU PLEASE TAKE ME OFF YOUR MAILING LIST AND PLEASE DON'T SEND ME ANYTHING AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION.

We have received 2 of these calls after 12:00 a.m. They are NOT APPRECIATED. I called the number and PETA claims that they are 'ghost calls'. I see their number so they are not ghost calls!!!!!!!
