I was actually stationed at Langley AFB (which was on my phone caller ID) a few years back. I was Honorably Discharged after my short 4 years was up in 2011, yet they called my house  on 5/22/14 around 4pm, and again around 5pm. It was a weather advisory. I'm just confused as to why I'm still in there systems to call.. I Haven't been there in 3 years...

This is an ACC (or other US Air Force command) notification line. Either you or someone that has had your number in the past signed up for these notification calls/texts. Usually it is to give you weather conditions, tornando watch/warnings or other messages that the base that the number was signed up at wants to send out. I could tell you how to un-sign up if you were in the military or had access to a DOD computer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how you can do so if you cannot access a gov system. Hope this helps a little bit.

I know this is not a scam, it is common for military members to get these calls. Why do you people think it's a scam? No one is asking for your information, if you're not military- how would you "report" or contact your unit or know who to call? They're not telling you to enter credit card info or anything like that- it's a notification. He base is closed? Oh, ok. Why would that make you think it's a scam? I know it's probably annoying, but it just happens to be- as others have pointed out- that your number is in their system for some reason- either by someone accidentally fat fingering their own phone number or maybe they used to have your number. That's all it is. I am no longer in the Air Force, but my husband still is and I'm getting these calls on MY cell phone as well- which was in their system less than a year ago. It just didn't come out yet since I separated. Please people, stop freaking out. Exercise means nothing to the civilian world, and weather notifications are nothing to be concerned about as you already know whether or not YOU have to go to work.

This is not a hoax, please stop saying that. This is a real process used by the Air Force to notify personnel of important issues, including exercises. If you're getting calls and aren't affiliated with the military, someone in the military probably had your number at some point. Again, this is real.

Meelah- it is a legitimate call, not anyone impersonating military. Someone in the military more than likely had your phone number or put your phone number in accidentally and your number is being notified of an exercise. This is NOT a scam, AD and family members understand this.  This is NOT a "false alert", it's an exercise. Lots of people on here are saying it's some sort of scam, when in reality it is a mass notification system for military members. If you don't want the call, change your number because I doubt you'll be able to find out how your number was entered into the database. Or you could wait and hope the military member updates their info- which is required periodically.

Oh, and "exercise" means "play" or "training"...they're not notifying you of an active shooter. Get a grip.

I received a call from this number 2 times in a row today, I live in Las Vegas NV.  The message was "Exercise Exercise Exercise There is an active shooter on base, get to the nearest secured building for shelter Warning LOCKDOWN Active shooter at the main gate Exercise Exercise Exercise "  then it gave me options to push 1 for "secured" or 2 for "assistance"  I pushed 2 and was disconnected!!  This was a very scary call as our building is right next to the Airforce Base.... Why are these people putting out false alerts such as this!!??  Seems since they are impersonating Government Officials and releasing false Alerts such as this.. that they would be apprehend and punished accordingly!!!!  Hope these jerk offs go to prison for Impersonating Government Officials, its a Felony and I hope they get the book thrown in their face hard!!!!!  This is not funny or amusing, I lived next to the movie theater in Aurora CO when it was turned into a blood bath massacre and these types of FALSE impersonations are NOT FUNNY!!!!!

I have check websites for ACC Emergency Notification Systems and there is no way to get to a real person. I have left several voice messages at 757-764-6809 to no avail.  My next steps will be to contact the Virginia Attorney General's Office. I live in New Hampshire and I don't need calls at 2:00 a.m. about thunderstorms in Virginia.

I know that these calls are annoying when you are not military or affiliated with same, But please do not refere to our men and women serving our country as MORONS. you could call the base operator and see if you can get the number to the base comm squadron and see if they can remove your number from their database

This number exists as an outgoing line only. It is used by the military to send out weather warnings and bomb/terroist threats to personnel om miltary installations. As it is an automated system it DOES NOT accept incoming calls. If you are not affliated with the miltary I do not know how/why it is calling you and it should not be calling your parents unless they are military mebers.

Air Combat Command emergency notification hotline.
Alerts their phone database to any out of the normal situations.
Air Combat Command is a MAJCOM (major command) of the United States Air Force. ACC is the MAJCOM I am assigned to, but I'm sure other MAJCOM's have similar programs.

I recieved a call from this number this morning to my cell phone at 6:33am; it was notification of a phone recall for the 99ABW, half hour later my boss called to see what my location was, so i guess it was legit...I don't like being required to have a phone for this reason. That is NOT legit.

Event Reminder
I got a text message from the ACC Emergency Notification System since I put my cell phone in their system through AtHoc. The number it gives me to call back to hear the full message is an 800 number, but while on the phone with them, this number rang and left a blank voicemail. If you acknowledge the call, it will stop. Even if you don't it should stop after only one attempt at contact. However, if command post puts out multiple notifications (like extending the weather warning, or ending an exercise after it was started) you will get more.

I read all the posts below and i think the problem is clear to me. I never got these phone calls or random text messages with Weather advisories (and an aircraft emergency last night). The phone rang just after the emergency was terminated, weird, so i think your local Command Post may have something to do with this. I just did some training for a Command Post emergency notification system, it asked for my cell phone, i fully plan on taking it out today, this was ridiculous, 1:20am!

Doesnt seem to be a scam or anything just related to the military base.
