An annoyance, I'll never give money to this "charity."

I just donated last week for the first time to Operation Smile with hopes  that it is a legitimate organizatio

The contracted fundraising operation for Operation Smile makes money by harrassing donors.
They are calling me 20 to 30 times every week for months now, from 7 am until 9 pm.
Often the phone just rings three times and they hang up.
I will never donate to a charity that hires fundraisers to harrass people like this.

I have made a contribution to Operation Smile several times but never again!  They have called as many as 3 times a day for the last 10 days for a total of 18 calls. Today I picked up the phone and told them to stop calling me.  I doubt it will make any difference but I can certainly find another charity to contribute to that won't harass me daily.

They are calling for more money, not to say thanks. To make it even better, it's an automated message.

Operation Smile -- I never donated to this charity, yet they have been calling several times a day for months now. Trash organization that buys donor lists from other charities then robo calls the list pandering for money.  

People who are defending this company as legit need to wake up. Most of the money collected goes right into the executive pockets and business overhead. Not for Profits are EXTREMELY profitable because very little money collected actually goes to needy. STOP DONATING TO THEM.

This scam charity is a prime example of why all charities should be included in the DO NOT CALL list. They should be allowed to call once if you donated to them in the past or gave permission to be called for future donations and then remove you when asked and if they don't then they should face penalties just like junk telemarketers which is what they basically are.

I had been giving regularly to Operation Smile until they HIRED this telemarketing turned charitymarketing company.  Operation Smile was my charity choice because I believed they were making good use of the donations.  Now it is clear that they are not!  This is a 3rd. Party company that calls the are "Strategic Fundraising."  Here is their web site
http://www.strategicfundraising.com/  They are a HUGE profit making company and Operation Smile has sold out to them.  Now you can't be sure if your donation goes to fix cleft pallets or to pay these jerks.  I've learned my lesson, no money for ANY charity.  I give to people in my home town that need it.  These huge companies making money on charity are despicable.  Their CEO's make millions in salary every year.  Sad, pathetic and typical of this greedy nation.

Message on caller ID is "Not in Use". Caller did not leave any message.

Called several times on Sunday afternoon. We don't recognize the area code or numbers so we did not answer.

From my notes, received call from 757-990-8921, and the Caller ID was "NOT IN USE." I didn't answer and (typically) no message was left. My notes also say I researched this on-line, and someone reported it to be "OPERATION SMILE." Apparently that was not on this particular site.
As OPERATION SMILE has called many times using 757-209-2058, I may have been confused.

Caller ID was "NOT IN USE" this time, although it was "OPERATION SMILE" previously. No message, of course.

I am glad to learn that this number is Operation Smile. I gave $250 to them several years ago from a tv promo and it was a  big sacrifice for me to give that large amount of money. I saw it as a 1 time think. I have been bombarded w/calls from them since then. Do they think the donors are 'made of money'. I am grateful that this 757-990-8921 number was found out by other folks what it really was. On my caller id it just said "NOT IN USE", whatever the heck that was suppose to mean.

If you want to give I found that the best charity to give to is ST Jude Hospital..They never charge or turn a family away if they have no meens to pay for their sick Child.Awesome Foundation to give to!

The Company is Operation Smile and it is a huge SCAM...I gave to this organization and all they do is bombard me with sales calls 24/7 and mail..The Company calling is hired by O.S. and they recieve a huge kick back for the donations..I told the woman I was broke and she would not let me off the phone(Almost begging me for the money) This is another huge SCAM using KIDS for Profits!!

Yes they are annoying and call several times. I used to give to them but now do Smile Train as they do not call and ask that you give and they only send out info a few times a year

I have give to Operation Smile several times.  I get calls from them twice a week.  They also follow me on my computer.  When I go to web sites their ad with children's deformed faces are staring back at me.  I feel like the more I give the more they will hound.

They should put their name on the caller id. I am sure that if you tell them to stop, they will.

It's a legit organization, but these folks sure are ANNOYING! I donated two Decembers ago, and they started calling back just months later to ask for more money. And then they started calling ... practically every day. I am so turned off by the robo-calls that I am not donating to Operation Smile again any time soon. And I have since blocked the number on my cell phone.
