Yes, one of these folks was downright rude. I recognized the number, and before the guy could start talking, and said we would not be able to donate and to please take us off the list. He said, "I don't know what you're talking about, Lady," and hung up on me.
T 2011-06-06 20:56:27 Unknown
Asked for me by name and when I said yes they hung up.
jewels 2011-06-06 20:56:27 Unknown
Unknow caller, I don't answer if Caller ID doesn't show a name.
X 2011-06-06 20:56:27 Unknown
Didn't answer, thought it was weird to get a call from a 757 number

Claims to be calling for my support of the Virginia Firefighters Association. Right. Woman had a hard-edged voice. Called me by my first name. I never respond to these bogus phone solicitations. First it was for the police (whom I cannot stand and wouldn't send a dime to support.) and now it's for the firefighters. Boo-hoo! At least the firefighters have jobs! Screw all of these thieves!

Got several calls from them. As suggested earlier, i went to www.vcops.org. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on donation. There are 2 numbers and 2 emails addresses to request to be put on the do not call list. I called both numbers and left a message. We'll see if it works.

Got a call from them too - boy did they get a wrong number! I followed a previous poster's advice and sent them an email requesting that they remove me from their calling lists.

5:24 p.m. Caller thanked me for last years contributions to the drug & alachol......etc. I did not make any contributions to this OR any other orginization dealing with these specific issues. I ask to be taken off their call list. I suspect another bogus 99.99% profit for me and a .01% donation to the police department...if even that. The good news is that you can return their call on auto dial and tie up their phone lines.... :-))

I would like to file a harrassment co,mplaint in the courts against the nonstop harressing people that are so ignorant they dont understand the words NO..and dont call here again.
WAY 2008-07-10 00:33:21 Unknown
Thank u for that number Matt. Hopefully it works!
Robin 2008-06-25 20:00:27 Unknown
Here's their website...www.virginiacops.org, go all the way down on the page, click on donations and at the bottom of that page it gives you a number to call to get put on their DNC List...hope this helps everybody!
(oh, and the website does say that donations to VCOPS is NOT tax deductible!)

Like many others, I started receiving telemarketer solicitations for the "Virginia ...sometype... Police" shortly after getting my telephone number here in Virginia. My wife donated. After receiving even more calls, I asked how much of my wife's donation actually went to the police. I was passed to a supervisor who tried to convince me that the small fraction he admitted went to the police was reasonable. (I recall it was something like 12%.) I was stunned, thinking he said it the wrong way around, but indeed, the vast majority of the money donated goes to the telemarketers, NOT THE POLICE ASSOCIATION.
This is Criminal MISREPRESENTATION, as far as I am concerned.
ALWAYS ask a telemarketer what percentage actually goes to the charity.... if they call a lot, I assure you that they make a lot of money doing so! REAL charities use volunteers who call one or twice a year, NOT regularly!
It at least 75% of the revenue does NOT go into the charity, it should not be considered a charity call and should be subject to the NO CALL LIST.... but that is my opinion, not the law, or so it seems in Va!

From paid telemarketer for VA police. Started last year less than 2 days after we moved to VA and still continues. I refer them to my accountant "Mr. Click" and hang up...they still don't get the hint

Unfortunately the national Do Not Call List allows a major loophole for charities.
HDM 2008-01-19 17:02:23 Unknown
Answered phone and said "hello" 4-5 times before a young man came on the line laughing and calling me by an incorrect name. Asked about their phone list as I've had listed number for five years and person only apologized and said "maybe you can help me". When he was pressed on this issue he hung up. Called number back and received a recording concerning donations to police/sheriff's fund. Called local PD and they advised they don't participate in telephone solicitation calls.

Redialed this number and found out they are the Virginia Coalition for police and deputy sheriffs asking for a donation. It amazes me that charities can still call even if you are on the do not call list.

starting the 20th of Dec 07 got a call everyday sometimes several times a day. skipped Christmas day and resumed the 26th told them I do not participate in solicited calls and just simply hung up.
Most of these collections done on behest of some agencies like police, etc are done not by those agencies per say but by companies that do that for a fee.
Government agencies or people you have done business with in the past are not subject to the do not call list unless asked specifically to be taken off by that company.

Have been receiving calls at least twice daily from this number. Answered an unknown call yesterday that was the Police Protection whoever, asked to be taken off their list, but this is a different number than that one. Am already on National Do Not Call List. Are they subject to it???
Matt 2007-12-20 21:37:30 Unknown
Call came in... Several times actually... I did a reverse lookup and got nowhere. Then I found this page so I called them back. I got a recording about the police and deputies group as mentioned before me. The recording also provided another number for the customer service (1-800-594-4246). The customer service line was automated (at least the part I worked), and it provided an automated Do Not Call option which I turned on (they used Caller ID to record the number to not be called). Hopefully, they will honor this registration.

Just got a call and did not answer....when I called back, it was a Police donation service.

I get calls from this number all the time. I have kindly asked to be taken off the list and yet nothing. I have to say hello a few times before anyone speaks. I have also said that donations are not available at this time and they still call. What happened to the do not call list?
The annoyed citizen 2007-11-16 13:59:45 Unknown
My husband made several donations to several uniformed groups in the past few years; firemen, disabled veterans, police, coastguard, and others. Ever since, I have been receiving many calls.
Don't answer the phone till the recorder picks up the message.

I have recevied calls every day for the last week asking for money donations for the Virginia colliltion for police. I informed the Virginia colliltion for police support that we aren't in the position to donated this year, but they still call 1-2 times a day. We did donated one year and I was told by the Virginia colliltion for police it was a tax deduction. Do Not Believe THIS.
