was contacted at home, and at my job, from a man named mike johnson (i would guess this to be an alias), said he was with cash advance america and was calling cause a legal matter with me supposedly needed to be discussed, and if i did not cooperate he then told me he would have the authorities arrest me at my place of employment,  however he had a fast talking india accent, the man knew my ss# he said i needed to give him information about my bank, i told him i do not have anything to do with a cash advance that was supposedly deposited into my account and i can prove it, i then got on my cell phone keeping him on my work phone, talked with my bank, my bank supervisor had told me no deposit from the company had been added to my account and this is probably a scam and the man hung up, we immediately put an alert on my account, but since this man knows my ss# it has got me shook up and i was wondering if there is anything i can do to prevent identity theft and fraud? PLEASE HELP i could not retrieve a # or an address at all, this man is trying to take money from hard workin americans quit letting this happen and do something about it, as i do not want to hear of another victim in this awful scam.

Having the exact same thing from the same exact numbers, heavy indian accent.  I have no idea what to do except to ignore.  Hopefully this is a simple stupid scam.

I've been getting the same call from this number and theyre claiming to be the district attorneys office in california???? the heavily accented indian people with incredibly american names keep calling me telling me not to ignore them and that they will bring me up on charges if i do not respond. also, they claim I took out a loan?

I just recieved another call from this number threatening me with legal action.  I have reported the to the FTC, I believe they got my information from a pay day loan application I took out.  This is called identity theft and hacking the internet.  Not charges the FTC takes lightly.  I have asked the to send me something in writing and I would present it to my attorney at which point they wanted to transfer me to the supervisor to discuss fees.  The other number they use is 323-786-8723 beward.  I have reported both to the FTC.

I rec'd a call yesterday 4/16/11 @ 7:40am from an Ashley smith informing me that I must return a call to 760-284-4637 immediately to resolve an important business matter(this was a v/m). I called bank the number & a gentleman by the name of Dan Wilson informed me that his colleague Ashley must have called me. I then asked him what the call was in ref to, he stated that it's for a cash advance loan that was supposedly deposited into my checking acct. He also stated because I didn't pay back the loan as agreed, I was being sued by them for the total amt of $5800 & the representing lawyer's name was Scott Williams. The call got a lil heated as I expressed that I never took out a loan for $300. I told them I'd be calling my bank to verify this info. Of course there were no funds were direct deposited to my acct. This through up a red flag..... I called them back spoke with a Eric(Erica) I asked to speak with a supervisor. The gentleman that was I was xfr'd to claimed to be attorney Scott Williams when indeed it was the orig rep I was speaking to (Dan Wilson). I caught him off guard when I asked "Is this Dan?, he said my name is attorney Scott Williams; I asked why'd you hang up on me earlier, that was very rude & unprofessional" He then said: "I hung up on you because I was getting very annoyed with you, etc....." That right there told me all I needed to know. I said what I had to say, hung up the call. Then I placed a call into the credit agencies & local police dept........ To those sick individuals who have nothing better to do then to try & take advantage of ppl & try to make money off your scams. Your day with your maker will soon come......God sits high & looks low! Yes, a very heavily accented "Sandra Williams" left me a very threatening message as well, also over $300. How are they intercepting this information in the first place? What would they do if we actually have our attorneys call them I wonder?

Sandra Williams sounds asian keeps calling me and even at work i want to report this to the police  as i do  not owe them anything .

I have an open file with the FBI since he quoted a ton of ontrastate laws and impersonated being an FBI Agent.  He threatened to break down my door (over a $300.00 loan..?..) and threatened my family.  He even gave me a false badge #.  He asked if I had warrants and told me I should get ready to call my parole officer..?..  He answered most questions rapidly yet he failed at the zip code

I'm getting the same messages.  My only thought is to do nothing...not return the calls.  Then will they go away?  If they press legal action, then at least I know what the heck it is about..  Calling them back only makes it look like a scam.  Jenny can't even talk properly which really bothers me, so I feel it is definitely a scam.

I did change my bank account numbers. I would recommend doing that.  Also, I applied on Identity Guard.  Another fake number is 206-787-9203...another heavy accent named James King.

If you ever get a call from this number:  760-284-4637 ignore it or if they leave you a message don't worry about it.  This is a SCAM and they are trying to scare you into sending them money.  They will have your name, address and your Social Security Number.  If you have ever gone online and applied for a pay day loan this is how they have gotten your information.  I got a call from an Indian guy who said his name was Samuel Johnson, who could barely speak English telling me about money I owed and if I didn't pay they were going to take legal actions.  I was furious and could barely wait for him to finish with this scam and then I let him have it.  I told him to proceed with his legal action because it would be a cold day in HELL before he ever get one dime from me.  I also told him that I knew this was a scam and that I have already reported them to my local police, the FBI and the FTC.  He then began to say "you B***H" and hung up on me.  I never got another call from them.  My advice is to call them out when you get a call from them then they will leave you alone.

I just received a phone call saying the same thing everyone else is commented on! The number on my caller ID is 1-916-395-0000 and the call back number was this number.  I let it go to voicemail.  His name was JACK ANDERSON with a very thick indian accent.  He told me that it is URGENT that i or my attorney get back to him regarding this matter and if i don't he wishes me the best of luck.  Now every message said the same exact thing like they were reading off a sheet of paper.  I will continue to ignore the messages and just don't answer the phone.
My other option is just tell them you are going to the authorities like Attorney General, FBI, and local police to report them and eventually should stop.  By the way, as I am leaving this message, they called again.  Just called an attorney and they told me that it is a scam and that whoever these people are bought a list of phone numbers from a third party.  So anytime you apply online for loans or payday loans just leave a fake phone number.

I got the same kind of thing...heavily accented woman who ended the call with "and if I don't hear back from you....all I can say is.....good luck to you, as this situation unfolds and consumes your entire life" in some creepy way.  I guess I'm just going to ignore it unless it gets out of control, then I will report it.

Okay... all of the above.  Several different men with thick Indian accents... one who called me "effing stupid" and was very aggressive.  Here's the kicker:  I work in THE PENTAGON.  They are calling this number and saying that they are the "government" (not of my country, from the sound of it) and threatening to come after me.  I'm at a freaking loss.  I think that this was an identity theft situation gone even worse, so am looking into changing account numbers, etc.  Will go to the FBI next... they are a couple of blocks away!!

This is a scam. We have received several phone calls from this number and several other phone numbers from the same area. They get your information if you have ever applied for a payday loan online. We have reported this to the FBI and local police department. Just received another one this morning and told the guy he was being recorded, but he did not like this and called me every name in the book, but when I played back the recording I had done using my cell phone, he hung up right away. Make sure that you report this to the FBI. They are trying to put a stop to this but they need our help to center in on these guys and put them in jail

How can I report this to the FBI and FTC.  I work for a law firm and get these calls all day long from different people.  I am so upset about these calls and embarrassed.  If anyone can tell me who to report this to it would be a great help.  I have dealt with everyone name listed and today I got a Leonna Lopez.

so i got a call from them today... the first time they left me a message at 9 am. the lady said her name was yolanda lopez.. however she was clearly from india... and i dont know how many yolanda lopez's live in inda. anyways she said that it was extremly important and time sensitive to call her back right away. and that if i didnt call her alls she could do is wish me good luck as my life unravels infront of her.. the message was way choppy.. she even tried to sound like a recording when she said me name. so i call back.. and they say oh didnt you get your court papers? then they say oh dear, well let me read it to you.. then they go on to say you are being charged with theft, fraud, and other things because you had a payday loan that you didnt pay back. then they said over and over we are not forcing you to pay it but if you dont you will go to jail, the sherif will go to your work, etc. then they said i owed them 1500 and i had to go to walmart and buy some prepaid visa cards, send them the numbers along with a copy of my drivers license.

number one im sure everyone knows this is a scam however in the heat of the moment i paniced and actually went to walmart.. but i didnt buy anything because by that time i had stopped crying and realized that no ligitament buisness would tell you to do that. number 2 i contacted the sherifs office just to be safe and of course they had no records of me or anything.. and the sherif brought up a good point... you will never be arrested for not paying a loan.. its up to the company to take you to civil court but the police have nothing to do with it.
however they have harrassed me all day and even impersinated a police officer! just tell them to stick their dots up their ass's and you will be contacting the police with their information. or tell them you are busy eating a juicy fat cow burger.. lol. either way just hang up.. when they realize they cant get money from you they will be off to the next person.. sad but true

I just received a call saying that they are the states attorneys office out of California. Her name was Sarah Miller. Then when I told her that I knew it was a scam, she said that she was going to put me on with her senior operator. I told her to fax everything she has to my attorney. I also informed her that she didn't do her research well, because I am disabled and was in and out of the hospital in 2010. For they state I took out a payday loan of $300.00, knowing I didn't. When confronted and told to fax everything, she hung up. Please anyone can you tell me how to have these people stop calling me?

Just received that same call!!  Have my social security number, banking info, place of business.  I never even heard of the company.  Called my bank just to make sure there was no deposit & there WAS NOT.  Heavy heavy Indian accent with the names of David Johnson & Dan Wilson.  Total scam.

These people are scam artists. I don't owe these people any money I have never borrowed any from them either. They keep threatening me with the police. They tell me that I will get legal papers at my place of employment. Who are these people and why can't they be stopped? Isn't this illegal?

I got the same call. They said i took out a payday advance and did not pay it back. So now they are suing me and charging me for bad checks. the name on the message was Lauran Miller with a verry heavy indian accent. I will be filing a report tomorrow.

The number 760-284-4637 called me this morning and normally calls me every other day..
This morning I was in a bad mood so I answered just to see what they wanted.
They didn't say anything so i called them back.
They said they were an attourney's office and wanted my attourney's information. They said that the state of Texas was filing a state lawsuit against me.
I asked a lot of questions regarding this and the lady Jenny did'nt really know anything. I asked her why she was calling me to obtain my attourney information. The proper protocol is to mail information to my address and I take it to my attourney. I asked Jenny why I never rcvd any correspondence form this company and she said that it would not be mailed to me. I said well I will call to see if i have a warrant and she said don't worry about the warrant because i will be sued. I told her I know my rights and everything that i sign whether its a loan or whatever. I READ EVERYTHING even the small print. I would never sign anything that says I will get sued for non-pymnt unless i am know i wil pay back. I brought up the FDCPA and told her i worked in collections and i will report them to the better business bureau an di want to speak with a sup. She hung up.
then i kept calling them back and they wouldnt answer. i called from a different # and this guy claimed to be a sup. he gv me a different different name that didnt even make since. He said I should have already rcvd lttrs in the mail. I asked what address he had on file and he said hold on let me find it. i laughed an dtold them don't call my phone or I going to the police at 2:30PM and will press charges against them. He was trying to skip trace me to find my address.
If they were really attourneys there would not be all of that noise in the background and they would have all of my information ava..
