Security company Cloudmark created a spam messaging reporting service that nation?s major wireless carriers agreed earlier this year to start using. Now, customers of AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint and others can forward their text spam message to 7726. The mobile phone carrier will ask customers for the phone number that?s linked to the spam message so they and Cloudmark can start investigating.

Got the "your entry has won a $1,000 Best Buy Gift Card" text. Called the number fromanother phone to see if I could find out who/where it originates from. (I don't shop at Best Buy so knew it is a scam). After ringing for awhile, the voice mail message advises tha tVM is not set up for this account. Reporting it to the FCC and FTC.

Presumably, since the inception of the Do Not Call legislation, commercial calls are allegedly obliged to cease to be made to land line phones between something like 8:30 PM until 8:30 AM in an individual time zone. Those were in the good old days before robo-calling devices, Skype, VOIP, texting, number spoofing, and the moving of boiler room phone banks off shore.
You no doubt have read in reports here a 800notes and other sites where people file complaints about scam and spam calls, that these robo calling devices never stop, running non-stop around the clock. They generate groups of numbers at a time. All it takes is for one hapless individual to pick up such a call, and the spammer or scammer "makes a hit". If the "victim" can be tricked into pushing a button to talk to a live telemarketer, fall for the "pitch", and reveal financial information, the caller makes money and the "victim" inevitably ends up poorer but wiser.
What makes the hits with cell phones even uglier is that the cell phone owner/user is in line to get stuck for fees for the call or the text message!
Do NOT respond to calls from names and/or numbers you do not recognize. Report the calls, etc., to the FTC and the FCC. Persistence produces results.

Received a text at 5:47am this morning saying "Your entry has won! Go to http://bestbuyrwd.com to claim your $1000 Gift Card." I received something similar from another number several weeks back so I came on here and sure enough, same situation. Very annoying.

Received text message on Nov.5 at 1:40 am " Your entry has won! Go to http://bestbuyrwd.com to claim your $1000 Gift Card." I didn't click on the link. Very annoyed to get waken up by it, maybe it's part of their tactic to try and get you to click the link. Not fully awake yet you might click on the link and who knows what kind of virus might infect your phone.

I also received an email this morning from 760-310-6799 stating that I had won a $1000 reward card from Best Buy. Since I haven't entered any sweepstakes, I figured it was a scam and I didn't click on the link. I figured I could find information online and I did! Thanks

Forward the text to 7726. It will be blocked by your carrier and investigated by Cloudmark:
