I receive these calls once a week and NEVER answer them. They most likely bought an old debt, whose statute of limitations has run out. So the debt was incurred back in 1985. It was taken care of...however, the paperwork is sold for pennies on the dollar to the MacGruder outfit. They call and harass you and hope to get you to pay them something. Ask them to send a written notice of the debt so that you can have your lawyer take care of it. 99% of the time you will receive nothing. So keep a list of these numbers by the phone and jot down the day/date and time of the call. Then REPORT them to as many agencies as you can. Keep copies. And someday you may find that a State Attorney General has sued them in a class action suit and you may get a small check.

collection company trying to threaten lawsuit, they are in California and have no right to do what they are doing over the phone.

I just received a call from a gentleman stating he was from CPS regarding some kind of matter on file and wanted me to return the call, I've never heard of CPS before I believe this is a scam of some sort.

I constantly get a call from a man saying he is with CPS and it is imperative that I return the call and when I do I am to refer to my phone number.  I have no idea who this person is and I don't return calls to someone I have no info about.

Just got a call from them they placed something on my credit report asked for verification and disputed credit company refuses to take it off saying they already investigated which is lie..cant trust anyone

by the way I called back they tried to say it was from May 19, 2000. yes you saw that right, 2000. 14 years ago. are you serious. statue of limitations is 7 years. have they lost their minds?

rec'd a call that stated I owed money to a check cashing place and the date was THE BUT ME ON HOLD AND HUNG UP ON ME!!!!, my husband I cleaned up our credit and paid all the old debit as we were buying a house, so I know that I owe no one!!!!

I don't know who these people is, keeping calling but not leaving a message of who they are looking for.

I keep getting calls from this number and they leave a message stating I should call them back immediately using my phone number as a reference.

Definitely a Scam! I've blocked numbers from them, and they will call from another similar number.
The very first time a spoke to them they stated I owed moneys, but wouldn't tell me from where.
I looked up their number on google, and found dozens of complaints.
Blocked another number from them. Another call from them and i will take things further.

I got a voice mail at work saying that it was CPS and I needed to get back to them ASAP as this was an urgent matter. No other information was given but this number 760-423-1166. I Goggles the number and found this site... Does anybody know what this is really about????

I just got a call from them saying I owed 200 on a loan I got back in 2012 when on that time I had no way on getting one since I didnt have a social!!! Lol so idk who they are but yeah right I'm pay 200!!!!!

first thing the debt collector said to me was that they are following the 1099 C on a 200 dollar balance today unless I pay I'll talk to a manager I said they can't file a 1099 C because they are not the original creditor I also told them that you cannot find my 1099 C on a debt that is less than $600 do not pay these people they are liars it's one thing to pay a legitimate company I got that is legitimately owed and it's another thing to pay a debt when they are lying and being disingenuous do not pay them record a call and sue them they are s*** bags

No, sorry but you are one of them and it is a Lie what you just stated, it is not true tis company is not legit. I work for the Government as Attorney and we are investigating this phone calls. Cannot give details but we are close to get the people behind the plan of ripping off citizens by harassing them and threaten to do something legal against them. Unless you have a document signed by you they cannot take to court or send the papers to the Attorney's General Office in your state to prosecute you. List your name in the "DO NOT CALL LIST" and contact an attorney so they can call the "collection" company and ask the to cease and desist and also you have the right to request all that is being said by written form, mailed to you if the refuse to do it then the call is not legit. Be careful never give information about your person or family members, never release financial information over the phone and last, never believe what is posting such this comment that I am replying because most likely the same people participating in the fraud would create an account to make feel the rest of the citizens comfortable with this company.

I had a good experience with CPS today. I worked with Teri Blake at 760-423-1100, and they set up a payment plan I could afford. I am finally getting my credit cleaned up, and this company made it easy for me. I hope the rest of them are this nice.

I got a call and they said it was from CPS and it was urgent I return their call.   It was a collection call for my SISTER that she listed me as a reference in the credit application.  They tried to make it sound like it was about her children with the name CPS and all.

I have gotten numerous calls from the number 760-423-1166 with voice messages that say nothing other than "Urgent message please call pack immediatly" and nothing more then when calling back would not give any information

i have been recieving so many calls from one number to the next all saying i was used as a referance on a family member who didnt pay some online loan i give up i had my voice mail say this number has been disconnected but now i get emails from this number,this has been going on since january they always say im liable for my familys debts even though my famely say they know nothing about it its time to drop my phone service because i tell them to quit calling but a new one will call i give up

I received a phone call from CPS but the caller ID on my phone said that it was my parents calling me. So it sounds like they are using some kind of software to spoof their caller ID. I recorded the call and somehow the guy, who identified himself as Reginald White, knew that I have tattoos and said that he was calling from my parents house! I urge anyone who receives calls from this company to record the call and state "Do not call me again". Make sure that you get some kind of acknowledgment from the caller ("yeah", "okay", "whatever", etc.) they all count as a form of acknowledgement. Jot down the time that they called. And if they call again, that constitutes harassment and you should contact your District Attorney's office or your state's Attorney General's office.

This number is now calling my dad.  I don't know who this company is all I want is them to stop harrassing

I Too recived a text saying it was for tracking and to call ASAP.....I will not call them back.  I am going to report them.

I got a text msg from this number. Said it was in regards to tracking info and not a sales call. I knew it was off somehow ibce I don't need tracking info for anything right now.

These unprofessional a***oles first track your phone # (I purposely called from a different phone # than they had called me on) and when I said "um, no I'm not giving you my phone # until you tell me where you are calling from" and then he got angry and said "don't do that miss." And hung up.  I wonder if that is what happens to him every time they get called out.  ALSO, the caller ID showed a "310" area code, while the number they give you to call back is "760". Scam artists I am sure.
