Got a text, don't buy it

received numerous texts from this number saying to "call regarding restrictions placed on your account". this happened days after i opened a bank account, so i'm curious if the bank sells your info??

I called Sprint Tech Support.  This is a new standard called Common Short Codes that allow anonymous third-parties to send you "short code messages".  Call and have them to "Block Short Code Messages" (this is more than a BLOCK SMS").  I also reported this phishing jerk to the Common Short Code Administration.

I looked that up too.  I actually live in Aurora, CO so I was totally wondering what was going on!  Oh well!  I just hope there aren't too many people giving out their info.  People just suck sometimes!

yes!  Just got it last night and I have Sprint service as well.  I tried putting in all 1's and it said the call may be monitored blah blah blah.  It just kept repeating itself, asking for your account number.  No one ever got on the line.  I just tried calling it back this afternoon and it is now saying it's disconnected!

I got the same message about an hour ago.  I had previously (a few months ago) gotten a similar message and I made the mistake and I called the number back, I go no one but on my next cell phone bill I had a 9.99 charge that I did not recognize.  I called Sprint and they told me that this was a charge for a dating type service. (the message i had gotten was something like" i'm too shy please call me back regarding restriction on your service") by replying i had authorized a charge on my account BEWARE! don't call it back call your cell provider and have them remove the ability for these types of solicitation texts. Sprint can do it, i don't know about any others. They had instructed me to text stop to a specific # and it removed the monthly charge from my account. (yes, it was set up to recur monthly!) Watch out, don't reply to any text that your not sure who it is. Especially if they, say anything about restricting your service. Don't reply, call your customer service # directly.

Got a text from this number.  Also showed Sooper C.U. and restriction on my account.  Not familiar with the name but had just made a large online transaction and thought it may have something to do with it so I called.  Got voice mail only.  I then searched "Sooper C.U." and it is a King Sooper stores (Colorado area) credit union.  They have a "phishing" warning on their home page.  I don't care since I don't have an account.  I do shop at King Soopers though.

Also, Sooper Credit Union is based in Aurora CO.

I received the text as well, and did a little research. It is NOT Sprint. The phone # is a land-line based in Oceanside, CA. Sprint's headquarters is in Overland Park, KS. I'm definitely not stupid enough to call them anyways.

Got a text msg 10 min. ago. Message " Sooper C.U.
Please call us at 1-760-434-2730 regarding restrictions on you account"

I see other references to same msg from "9099."

Does everyone getting the msg from either number have Sprint service as I do?

same text a few minutes ago. I dont have an account with them but called the number and kept inputing all 4s and it just kept asking for the card number. never was prompted that it was incorrect or transferred to cust service. could be a scam to get your card number?

I got the same message but from a number 9099 which is Sprint.

I just got a text identified by number 9099 that said 'Sooper C.U. please call us a 1-760-434-2730 regarding restriction on your account'.  

I, too did bother calling.  This is not the first time I've gotten this exact same text.

I got the same text message that said:

Got a text message on my cell:
Message " Sooper C.U.
Please call us at 1-760-434-2730 regarding restrictions on you account"

I called the number and on the recording says " you have called Sooper Credit Union, please enter you 16 digit of you card in order to help you"
Of course I did not enter anything because I do not have an account with this bank.
Area code seems to be from California.

Please, be aware.....
