I placed my Harley Davidson for sale on cycletrader.com and received a text wanting to buy it via paypal.  Also this email from a "Cheryl Reagan" that stated: I hope the Bike is in good condition? and there wont be any cause of disappointment if i purchase the Bike from you? I want to buy the Bike for my daddy as a birthday gift and I am ready to pay the asking price. I'm a Molecular biologist and am currently on sea right now which is strictly no calls. My Mode of payment is PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my PayPal account. Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, I will be responsible for all the Paypal fees/charges on this transaction, if you don't have an account with paypal, it's pretty easy, safe and secure to open one. Just log on to www.paypal.com. I hope we can make this transaction as fast as possible. Less I forgot, I have a Mover that will come for Bike once payment is cleared in your paypal account and they will be handling the title for me, as I look forward to hearing from you with your paypal information as requested below.

Harass them like they harass us. F***in people in this world are messed up. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Good work!

Jake Hobbs phone number 772-882-7560.  This man is a fraud.  He scammed $280 from me and disappeared.  Do not give this man any money.  He is being investigated by the FTC, the FBI, and the Attorney General's office for running various scams.

I received a very similar call from a guy named Marvin Watson as well early Saturday morning.  He left a message with my answering service stating this is about a important legal matter and that he is from the California State Attorney's office.  After returning his call,  no Marvin Watson came to the phone and the guy who answered the phone was trying to get my number from me.  He placed me on hold then disconnected.  This is such a scam.  Do not give any numbers to this person.  I hope this guy dies a very painful death.  We need to get him into jail to get raped and f'd up.

Print off this thread and give it to your employer. If they still do not believe you, open the links contained within this post and show it to them. Bottom line is---these are hard-core criminals who will stop at nothing to get innocent victims' money and/or jeopardize their jobs:

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Just tell your job it is scammers and they can see for themselves by googling the phone number.
You should put a fraud alert on your credit and change any bank or card numbers the scammers might have.  Tighten security on Facebook, etc. warn your friends and relatives about the calls and change your phone numbers.

no they can not legal do this, they have to go to court first (small claims court) as they can not do this within themselves. Second of all payday loan companies are illegal in certain states. third of all you have to be notified that their is a case pending in the first place for the sheriffs office to issue an arrest warrant (and it will be for misdeamenor charges if they file at all. They can not freeze your account (only the us federal govt can do this) talk to your bank quickly and make sure the bank knows what is going on with this. Also launch a complaint with your local pd or the pd of the area code.

these people called twice yesterday and left two voice messages that "I or my attorney of record get back with them immediately as to time sensitive matters and id'd herself as cheryl fesus??? And then proceeded to say that if I do not return the call or my attorney that the mattter was out of her hands and she wished me good luck as the situation unfolded on me then stated goodby and take care." If it were legitamate they would have stated their business name for starters, the woman would not have sounded middle eastern/indian and they probably would not have left two messges.

I just received a call today at my workplace.  When I tried to call back I was hung up on and the second time I called back a foreigner answered and wanted my case number.  I told him I didn't have one and he then asked for my phone number.  I told him he was the one that called me, but I am sure he has call waiting and I will receive a call on my cell phone from them.  We need to stop this from happening to us......

There has to be a way to get one of those illegal autodialer machines and just have it flood "Michael's" number so he can't do any business.  I suggest everyone just ohone bomb this guy always.  Anyone that is tying up his line stops "him" from "working" and scamming people out of money.
