6464995911, MArk Williams, calles several days in a row leaving message on voice mail that criminal charges have been filed against my ss# and to call him right away or "I'd be sorry" and "All I can do if you don't call me is wish you luck with what was coming my way", very heavy middle-eastern accent. Well I called him back he had all my information; ss# bank routing and account #s etc., He asked me to be honest, had i ever been arrested before. When I told him it was none of is bussiness he started to scream at me. I couldn't even understand what he was saying between the accent and my phone garbling because he was yelling so loud, then he hung up. I gave him a few minutes and called back. I recorded it. Told him that I did't like being yelled at. He then proceded to say very, very, vulgar things to me. He would stop. I let him ramble for a while then hung up. But what are we supposed to do. If they have all my financial info cant they access my bank account? And what can we do IF they do get money out of my account?
P.S. He said he was from (United nation? law ofc) then he said states attny ofc of NY, that I had fraud charges, theft by diseption etc.

They called me, my fiance and our friend saying that I was being sued by Cash Net. I've never heard of Cash Net in my life. I told them that IF I was being sued they need to send me the information since they were "watching my residence"
The guy threatened me and I told him not to call back.
They called me back from a different number 052 586 773 (no joke) and tried it again.
I'm changing my number! Its a total scam!
| Almighty 2011-06-06 20:56:32 Unknown |
They are certainly a scam. I got a call from them this morning, but it wasn't even about me. They wanted alternate contact information for a friend of mine. When I refused to help them they threatened me with their "legal mess" and said the call was being recorded "down at the courthouse". If you know how our system really works you can spot scammers half a world away. At that point I just laughed at him and hung up.

I use a service on my cell phone if they are calling your cell you can prevent their calls by:
1. Revealing (unblocking) their blocked private numbers or unknown calls.
2. Blacklisting their number or fake number they are calling from to where they will get only a disconnected number recording never ringing your phone.
The service is called TrapCall. It works wonders I use it on my LG Thrive. they claim can be used on any cell phone though.
they have a free version doesn't do as much as the rest. But you can pick the plan that fits your needs.

I have been getting harrassing phone calls every other week from phone number 000...saying that they are from the California Law firm Legal department about a Payday loan. I am told that I am a prime suspect of a lawsuit.. Prime suspect??? Now you say that you are calling from a law firm?? I asked them to tell me the name of the Company and the amount of the loan and they put me on hold and a different person comes to the phone.I took the initiative to check with BBB to see if there were any complaints and it was... These people were using a Company's name who I called and they had NO information... They continued to call me at work and on my cell. I asked them fro my complette SSI number and for some odd reason, they would only give me the last four digits... I mean if you are the Legal Department, you would have all of my information... I google the number that they gave me to call back and it appeared to be a land line number for a cell phone through Verizon.... I called them back from my cell phone and after arguing back and forth with John, Frank, James or whatever his names was... he told me to F*** ME!!!! ....

I have received numerous calls from various numbers for months. They all had heavy accents and American names. They asked to talk to my son, who is physically and mentally disabled. Finally, the last time they called and asked to speak to my son I simply said NO. It shook him up a little and he ask me why and I told him, "because I don't want you to". He told me I had to let him speak to my son and I simply said, "no I don't and nothing you can do or say can make me". He said my son would go to jail and I told him I hope they put my son in the same cell with him. He spit and sputtered for a minute and started cursing and I calmly told him to watch his language as this call was being monitored by the FBI and CIA. He hang up and I haven't been called again.

I received a call at work for someone and after 4 calls in 10 minutes, I eventually told him to file charges on the company. He asked did I want him to send an investigator and I said yes. He mumbled some words, CURSED me out and hung up. So tell them to file charges and do what they need to do. They may stop calling. I even told him that the call was being recorded which made him angrier.

I too have received a call from this number. He claims to be Harry Scott with Financial Credit Union. He called today as John Smith. I have filed a complaint with IC3, FCC, and spoken to my local sheriff. This is very much a scam. I told him today of my filing and he stated he would see me in court. I said see you there. The only real issue is he is calling me on my work number. That makes thing a little difficult. Hopefully it will stop soon.

They called me today in reference to a payday loan from my girlfriend and they were going to come after me if I didn't co-operate.
Needless to say I have both numbers they gave me and have been calling them and making their lives hell.
Gave the number to friends who are also calling and harassing them.

Can anyone of you call 530 455 6012? I have a similar situation where I was to be sued over a payday loan as well. They identified themselves as lawyers from "Anderson Law". They had all my info as well. The guy did have a very thick accent. All I could make out was the phone number. He said I needed to call or have my attorney call since it was an "urgent" matter. I think he said his name was either Pat Cooper or Dan Cooper. So again, if anyone of you guys can call 530 455 6012 and see if this is the same type of message or people you're getting. Thanks.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1. The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2. Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3. File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone. Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4. File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5. File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)
By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
? Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
? Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
? File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
? File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

Alan Marshal is supposed to be a lawyer with this firm. He must also be Superman because I have received calls that have come from 3 different numbers and the numbers are coming from landlines in New York, Texas, and California. And within 2 minutes of calling each number he is at every one of them. When asked certain questions like what court this would go in, what county it would go in, what district, and other questions they really did not like this. I was called a begger, and told this guy that he needed to bring his scamming buddies to northwest Florida and I'd show him who the begger is. I told him that I work a honest 40 hour job every week and I don't scam people out of their money to make a living so he needs to watch his mouth. I talk with a very southern accent and he called me a hillbilly so I told him to come visit this hillbilly and I'd show him what a redneck was while he was here.

Called me yesterday, his name was Chad Brown. When I told him to mail me something and I would be glad to pay my debt, he told me F*^K You and hung up. Today, he called, now his name is John Smith and I told him the same thing, he told me, good luck, I'm going to need it. Apparently they don't like you calling their bluff.
