Called the number left via call back service on my cellphone. Number was answered by a guy with a heavy indian accent claiming to be Sean Gilbert. Says he was with a law firm and i was facing 3 felony charges for deception, mail fraud, bank fraud. Asked if there was a lawyer representing me to foward the info over. Then he started saying my social my previous address, my employer and my email address. I confirmed nothing asked what this was in reference to. Only answer i recieved was it is about a payday loan. I was like i do not own a payday loan nor are they legal in the state of new york. He got angry told me i would have to deal with the prison time for not wanting to own up to my mistakes. HE got aggravated and hung up on me. Had my wife call from her actual law firm and he will not answer the phone.

I got the same phone call, from the same stupid indian, but he was saying his name was a mike anderson & now he is calling my job harrasing me....I don't even know how he got my info...

Same thing just happened to my sister so we just googled the number and found this post. we are now contacting the police.

This actually works...

When they call, ask them who they are trying to call. They get annoyed because YOU have to tell THEM your information. They evidently don't have much. Simply tell them that the FBI (truth) said this was a scam. They hang up.

The guy who answers this number is named Sean.

They get your information if you ever try to apply for a loan online. They have snagged it from a legitimate company who verifies that you don't have loans out all over the place.

This is the 4th call I've gotten from these guys. The last was on Thanksgiving. I DID manage to get in touch with a legitimate law firm in Florida who processes their payments. The lady was VERY helpful and told me if they called back to just tell them to have a nice day and hang up. She even told me that she would personally fly to wherever I'm at and stand up in court with me should anything come of the call. They have NO information to provide as to WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE about the amount they claim I owe. And furthermore they don't have a precise amount.

There is NO WAY that the police are going to come and arrest you for a bad debt. They claim fraud when they call. I've never frauded anyone. I have NO bad debts. Nothing. They did manage to call my work this morning. That is what freaked me out because I can't for the life of me figure out how they got my work number.

I called the FBI in my home state (Arkansas) and they told me that the cases of this sort of thing were so numerous that they didn't investigate a per-case basis unless there was a substantial financial loss. The guy on the phone told me to just ignore them.

There was NOTHING on my free credit report when I checked it either.

so this is the second time I got calls like this, the first time a couple months back.  But this is what I did, I made a fake email and went onto an online dating site and found a hot pic of some girl online and posted this scam companies number on the profile, within 1 day I had over 200 guys calling the company thinking they were calling for some Shawna Williams girl.  I wrote on the profile that she lived with a asian roommate named Yoshi, so every time they would call they thought Yoshi answered lol.  So what can they do??? They are not a legal company so they cant call the cops on me, they just f****d with the wrong person cuz im gunna keep f****ng with them back.  So it looks like they got to many CALLS for this girl lol and changed their number..guess ima have to do something like this again..DONT give them any info. the last company was over in India so I dont think we can really even do anything about it legally so If u dont like getting f****d with, f*** with them back!  They dont have ur social security number either, just the last four digits, but i did put fraud alert on my credit just in case.

does any one know a way to get them to stop???

Hello - I just wanted to post these phone numbers 607-595-1862 (Binghamton, NY) and 760-624-8174 (Calipatria, CA). They are scamming and claim to be calling on behalf of "State Department Federal Credit Union." The two fake names of the people who called me was: Thompson Watt and Bruce Shrek (very broken English and heavy Indian accents). They continuously called my cell phone non-stop and attempted to call my job directly a couple of times. Just like everyone else who has posted here, my situation is similar where I am told that if I don't comply with them they will "send the cops to my door". The scammer "Thompson Watt" actually transferred me to someone who was supposed to be higher up than him to give me more information about this debt that I supposedly owe (which I don't!) Once I was transferred, I asked the man to tell me more information that he could not supply so I told him I was reporting him and I hung up. He immeditalely called me back and left me a voicemail saying "I have robbed your social security number and your benefits will now cease." These guys are crooks as you all are very aware. I just wanted to be sure to post the two numbers that were harrassing me.

My husband received the same call from "mike anderson" who said the same things he said to everyone else. He has never taken out a payday loan. When we returned the call, it goes to a mailbox which says it is full. I don't know what they are trying to pull but it is very annoying.

I received the same call this morning except he said his name was Mike Anderson. Again same heavy accent I could barely make out anything he was saying.  He didn't leave any information as to why he was calling he just said that either I or legal representative should call and if I don't then I will suffer the consequences.  what is this?????

12.1.10 - received (2) calls from this number just today based out of Calipatria, CA.  Same MO as noted for my 11.18.10 phone calls from (813) 703-1590 Plant City, Florida and CashAdvance. ...Heavy East Indian accent - notifying me of a severe legal issue against my name & social security number and if I didn't phone him back immediately with legal representation there would be severe consequences, where he wished me good luck. This person went by Steve Robinson/Robertson?....Same SCAM. Be aware and notify local & state law enforcement. Closing my bank accounts and getting a new phone number to regain some peace to life.

There is a guy by the name of Steve Robsertson that calls about an alleged lawsuit pending from a lend call Cash Advance and ask for personal information and also if you would like to just pay the balance to prevent the lawsuit and it is a hoax!
