Received a call from "Officer Shawn Martin from the Department of Law and Investigation" with a very thick accent. He claims that there is a very serious issue against me and charges against my social security number.  The number is from Encintas, CA and he wants me to call him back.  This is the same script from the other scammers that call me.

I have gotten a few false calls from the same numbers, once it was a lady with a strong accent, then she transfers me to an to man who changes him name everytime he calls, he says he is an attorney one day and  the police the next. they are fake fake fake  . I have saved all of there prank messages

This number calls me and a person by the name of Thomas Smith who has a very very heavy accent states that he is calling from the Law Investigation office located in CA. He then says that he is going to transfer me over to Officer Williams with the Department of the Law. There is no hold and this Officer Williams sounds exactly like Thomas Smith.  I told him that I am at work and what is this call pertaining to? He says that I can call him back when I am free. I asked him for his hours of operation. He says that he will be in the office at 6:00pm my time (Eastern time). I asked him if I should call back later is there another Law Officer that I can speak to? He says no that I should just speak to him.  (At this point I know something is not right) Then I asked him if this is a case against me, why didnt I receive something in the mail? Then he asks me if I want him to send me something in the mail. I then said to please Cease and Assist. They call me over and over again and it is very hard to understand what they are saying. I truly believe that this Thomas Smith is not the real name of the person who called and I believe that this Officer Williams is the same person as this Thomas Smith.   If this is a collections agency they need to call  and tell them what the call is for and who they truly represent. I will pay what I owe, but running this game on the phones is uncall for.

Just received a call from this number. Call was received on line that I used to apply for online payday loan. I believe the loan company is selling customer information as they have been the only ones I have given this # to.

they have been calling my husband also. sounds very much like a scam. threatening for $500 also.

who do we report this number to? what other sites did you research on?

Caller claims to be with law enforcement and says if I do not send in a check for $500  I will go to jail.  Caller claims it is for an old debt, but will not give specific information.  Caller has a foreign accent and is extremely difficult to understand.  

According to other websites this is a SCAM and has been reported to the FCC
