he said his name is "joe mayers" he claims that i owe him money i do not owe he is very demandin and is using scare tatics like he is going to file a lawsuit against me or take me to jail.

I have had this same guy call me a ton of times- I am glad to know I am not alone

I don't know who these people are but they called my phone today 8 times and then called my work phone lying about who they are.  I'm going to try and look them up on the BBB.ORG.

Yep, just got a call like this myself.  I left it go into voice mail.  it was a foreigner who indicated he needed me and my attorney to contact him as soon as possible and that If i did not, he wished me good luck.

Same thing. Told me I was being sued for a payday loan. Never had a payday loan said they were from calif, lawfirm .. Completely bogus

I just spoke with my payday loan center and they told me these people will get your info from the internet and try to scam you into paying money. They threaten you. If you have ever applied for or had a loan they somehow obtain your info and try to scare you. THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST!

I received an exact phone call just as everyone else. Who are these people and why do they have my ss #?

I am so sick of this!! There should be something someone could do, they should be arrested or prosecuted for harassment and threats.

I had the same phone call a while ago on my phone same accent and his name claimed to be Mark Benjamin, he was very rude and I could hardly understand what he was saying.  If you have ever used a cash advance place this is where it is coming from.  He has my ss number as well.  I have called the law and my local news station to get help because it's no telling what these people will do with the information that they have.

I had the same thing happen to me. I gave them my attorney's information and so far nothing has been faxed over to them. I have, however, began to receive a lot of payday loan and cash deposit e-mails since the call. If you get a call from this number, I suggest ignoring it.

I recieved the exact same phone call from the same # and a man claiming he worked for an attorney and his name was ryan smith and the attorney name is robert keith from federal credit law firm. He was very threatening. I will not call him back

I had this same exact number call my wifes phone not mine, asking for me. And, yes, im the type of person that wont answer the phone, especially if it is a number that i couldnt possibly know. The same indian guy was telling me that there was gonna be a lawsuit for a payday loan. I said I wish, I had just got a new job last week and for sure could have used the money if that was me. So i at first freaked out but then startd acting rationally and called my parents. Then i called my identity theft lawyers and while i was doing that i remembered the guy hung upon my because of my take no crap attitude. Then i looked up the number on tmobile to se where it came from. Found out it was from barstow california, then proceeded to look up attorneys with the name Joe Myers and found one in Riverside but he was a personal injury lawyer. So for some stupid/smart reason i decided to Google. And i found you guys.

I've received several calls and voicemails from this particular # stating that me or my attorney need to return the call or action would be taken. I have not returned the call nor have I spoken with the caller. It is very difficult to understand what the caller is saying due to the accent and the phone line having connection issues.

I had an unknown number pop up on my cell and sent it over to voicemail.  I checked my voicemail and while doing so had an unknown number pop up on my work phone.  I answered and I had some man on the phone that I could barely understand due to his Indian accent.  He was claiming his name is Ryan Smith and that there has been a criminal lawsuit filed against me and he wanted to know if I had an attorney.  I told him no, he gave me the last four of my social to assure me he was speaking to the right person and that a lawsuit was filed.  He wanted to transfer me over to someone else, but I told him that I was at work and couldn't really talk, to which he said this was more important than my job.  I told him that I would call once I was off work, to which he said if he didn't hear from me he wished me luck due to what was going to happen to me. I've found some similiar scams reported on different numbers and I'm assuming this is just another scam. Anyone had a call like this one?
