I received a couple calls from an unavailable phone number. Each time they left a voice mail with the return phone number being 760-890-7644.  This company claims to be a Sheriff's Dept and they keep changing which California county they belong to.  My first tip that this was illegitimate was when he identified himself as "officer" Michael Meyers (yes! Like the Halloween character!).  All sheriff dept officers identify themselves as Deputy-sheriff's. They proceeded to claim that I was in some kind of significant legal trouble and subpoenas were gonna be arriving at my workplace. When I asked for specific information about him and his agency the man stuttered and fumbled for words.  By the way, each time, the man had what appeared to sound like a Indian accent.  I grew more suspicious by the second.  I finally told the guy that if I'm in any legal trouble that I'm exercising my miranda rights and my lawyer will be calling them.  The man then had the nerve to tell me to make sure my lawyer had my social security number when he called back! Right then and there I hung up and directly called the REAL sheriff dept they claimed to be from.  The deputy-sheriff informed me that it is probably a hoax and to contact my local law enforcement agency. I then decided to google the phone number and this webpage showed up. This page advised me to contact the Federal Trade Commission, which I did.

Be careful with solicitors from this number, I'm convinced its a scam job trying to extort money from people. All I can do now is hope the FTC does its job. The calls are becoming annoying.

I just received a call from this number and they said that they where the sheriff office and that I owed them money and I told them that I had no idea of what the hell they were talking about , he also said that they were going to my work place. I contacted my cousin who is a lawyer and he told me that there is no such company and that everything is a scam, he also asked me to report it to FTC.  So that's what I'm doing.

I've received dozens of calls from various numbers including this one, asking for Herbert Davis. Though I've screened calls many times, told them I'm not Herbert Davis, this continues. Same schtick as described above, from a pseudo-official sounding agency, threatening Herbert/me with legal action. Fortunately they have no personal information about me besides my number.  I've reported them to the FTC.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

These people keeps calling me at work and they are rude. They are harassing me as well. If they dont stop calling, I can lose my job
