they actually called the 911 center and when we said 911 they hung up

Received unknown call today, 11/13/07 at 7:03 p.m.  Asked for me by my middle name.  No idea how they obtained my middle name.  Informed caller person did not live here and hung-up.

Why does this continue for years?

scammers that are vague about "magazine subscriptions" trying to get your financial info.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.

I am another person called by 763 225 8280, also a variety of 303 (Denver) and 651 (Minnesota) numbers. They claim to be a magazine center asking me if I am satisfied with the magazines they sent. I have never received such magazines. When asked they can't tell me what subscriptions. They have called over and over again from different numbers, sometimes as late as 10pm. They apparently have my name and address. I suspect they got this info from scammers that called me saying I won a gas card from citibank. This company and 3 others started sending me information of bogus shopping and trip savings and started charging me for services monthly. In the end, I never actually received any services from any of these companies. I had to close my account that I had for many years to stop them. I haven't been able to stop this magazine company because I don't know who they are.

Magazine sales calls more than once daily

Please report this number to the FTC so they can find them. They are scam artist and have probably taken advantage of people already. I hope they find them and put them away forever.

I have recieved a numberous amount of calls from this this number. They are stating I have ordered magazines that i never have really ordered. I have asked several times for them not to call me back and they insist to continue to keep calling. I have tried to call the number back and it just rings and rings!!! ANNOYING AND I THINK THEY ARE SCAMMERS! WATCH OUT PEEPS!

I recently was scammed by another company called the 716 Magazine Subscription Service.  I suspect this magazine "service" is somehow associated with 716--a sneaky company in NY.  The scammers can be smart where the law is concerned so watch your back and don't repeat anything they say or provide *any* information. I am told by the phone company (Qwest) that saying "yes" at any point in the conversation can be recorded and used to accept anything they want to force on you.  I've recently added a "no solicitations" hold on my phone number.

Anyway, received call tonight from *Baylum" at "Readers Publishers of America."  He was a young sounding (20-30 y/o) male with African American dialect.  Same story as others. They told that there is an important confirmation number to write down to protect from additional scammers.   Stupidly, I repeated the numbers/letters and asked why they were giving this to me. He said some mumbo jumbo that made no sense. and then he listed my work address, whether I was still an __(my career's title)___ and whether I was still married. Phishing for information! I would not answer any questions.  I requested a callback number which was 800-626-4839--this number does not exist.       When I *69 I got the 763 number. I'm calling my phone company tomorrow to report this--they are supposed to be in serious trouble.

They called me, and when I tried to question who they were, what they wanted, etc.,,, they hung up the phone.  These type of scammers have ripped off my mom,,, for thousands until I at last closed all the accounts.

I keep getting calls on my cell phone from this number and they state they are a magazine company.. But their company name changes every time... They state that I have magazines order, when I ask them to confirm the info they can not..I keep getting calls from a guy name Chris??? I also get a call from a women from the same "company" but it show as restricted.. I did call back the number no answer, so I text a message back... The message was received so I believe that this might be a cell number.. Maybe a prepaid cell phone which has no track record?? The area code states it from St. Micheals,Minnepolis... I'm sooo tired of these calls!!!

BEWARE, FOLKS!  This is a scam designed to get your personal banking information and/or to confirm other personal and identifying information, such as putting the correct name to a telephone number.  I advise everyone who is getting these calls to call your state Attorney General's office immediately and file a complaint.

John: These people are NOT "whining about it"--they are legitimately concerned because this IS a scam.  This company making these fraudulent calls is NOT selling magazine subscriptions, you MORON; they are calling regarding PAST magazine subscriptions and asking the person to confirm bank information, i.e., CREDIT/DEBIT CARD NUMBERS!  This has NOTHING to do with being on the "Do Not Call List", which I AM on already. They are calling me constantly from an old subscription I once had, trying in VAIN to get my banking information.  Often, after simply confirming that they are talking to me, they immediately hang up.  Do some research before you dole out advice and criticize potential scam victims by calling them whiners.  You're an idiot.

I got a call from this number last night.  I didn't pick it up, since I didn't know the number.  I'm on the "do not call" list, but I still get these scams!

Call came to me about second notice of my car extended warrenty is running out. My car warrenty ran out years ago. My car is ten years old.

Those bastards keep on calling me. Any 763# that calls me these I let go to voicemail. and funny thing they never leave one. I'm sure it's illegal. If we could file complaints with the attorney generals in our area this # and the company associated with it will be on alert.

People keep calling me several times a day on my cell from this 763-225-8280 Its gotton OLD very quick & calling me by a name on a birth certificate of a sister.

I am getting calls for a Michelle Fogee

I have been getting calls non-stop by this number and a dozen other numbers with wierd area codes. They keep calling me by a name similar to my own. Everytime I yell at them to stop calling me they just hang up. It really creeped me out. Then I called one of the numbers back and it was a readers choice magazine! This should be illegal!

Asked for wife by name.  Said something about a "reward center" but said it so fast I couldn't understand.  Hung up before I could give her the phone.

Keep calling for my husband, he told them I handle this and when I got on the phone he starts talking fast and when I questioned how did he get our information he hung up on me.

They almost got me. But they blew it. The young girl was nice and told me all about this problem with companies getting hold of the magazine list. I was told I would be placed in a new secure database. I was given a code and then offered a $10.00 reduction in my monthly magazine subscription account. THEY REALLY BLEW IT. I have paid all my accounts. The poor young thing could not tell me what magazines I was getting. I was then transferred to the "supervisor" who insisted I was still paying for magazines. When I asked her to please confirm the package I was getting. She stated "the woman's package". That's when she blew it. I have a package with United Readers Service which includes a history mag, baseball mag and a racing mag. When she asked me to confirm my bank information and I said NO, the call was disconnected. When I did *69 I got the number and when I called back - it rings and rings.   BEWARE!!!

I was getting three to five calls for a "Michelle" every day.  Give it up, you idiots!  If the call is not about a magazine subscription, then it's someone saying that "Michelle" gave them my number to call her.

How stupid can these fools be?  Now I'm just not answering this number on my caller ID.

They called from 763-225-8280 from Anoka, MN.  They called to apologize for all the sales calls and mistreatment I've been getting from the other companies.  When I said "What companies?" he changed the subject.  When I asked why he was apologizing for other companies, he again changed the subject.  He then said he wanted to go over my information so he could put a stop to other companies calling me. I said, "Nice try, jerk."  He hung up.

Obviously, they were fishing for info.  I'm sure this was Readers Source in disguise.

same number 763-225-8280 called. First a girl talked about putting my number on a do not call list and I would be taken off  Which magazine did i like, etc. etc.
Then she said, I'm going to put my supervisor on. he asked how she did, was she polite, etc. etc. Then the guy says he'll take $10.00 off I said off of what. Well, off of my magazine order. I said I do not want anymore, all of my subscriptions are paid, he said no they aren't. My visa card was being charged 59 dollars a month, I still owed like 12 or so months. I said what credit card? He said don't you know, are you confused about what credit card you used. I told him to call back tomorrow. Now, I try to call that number back and of course, it rings rings and rings
