Legitimate health insurance provider calling to inform you of your plan and benefit information. They want to explain your plan and all of the plan options and extras that may or may not be offered like free health club membership and online 24 hour doctor access, etc.

This was no scam. United Healthcare has to ask for that information and have the member disclose the information.  I think they should have informed you with all the personal inforamtion attacks out there, that they where  calling  from what company and possibly even offered a phone number for you to either call them back at or call to verify they were above board.  But this is no scam and I just received one myself and looked in here to see that it was only the company that I've worked for and called one of the "life coach's" the other day, so I know why I got my call, don't blame you for being leary..just know  that it is no scam, if we confirmed/told you the information on file, that would not protect you, it would in fact, be giving your information out to someone we can't confirm is you.  Hope that makes sense

I just got a call too. I have  worked  for United Healthcare for 12 years and it is our policy, due to hipaa privacy laws, that we have to ask for simple info to identify who we are speaking to.  Just address and DOB, however, I inform my members that if I or someone else calls from United Healthcare, we will be asking for the info just to be sure we are speaking to you and not someone at a wrong number or someone pretending to be you.  I get the reluctance though.  I just missed my call but now know that I called one of our companies "health coach" programs and that is probably why I received my call.  Thanks to all that noted this.

I'm an Insurance Biller...It could be that your BCBS plan has a contract with United Behavioral Health (UBH) to provide the mental health benefit of your plan.  It's also possible that they just recently did this and may or may not have notified subscribers, it may not be indicated on the back of your card...In my experience, an easy way to tell is if there is a different number on the back of your ID card to call for mental health customer service than medical customer service, that usually means you are calling a separate company.

Calling robot, if you answer it will connect to a person that will ask for your name; this outfit targets elderly medicare patients and is connected to many other phone numbers. Remember, the number you see has NOTHING to do with the number that is calling you!

Twice in 7 days we were called. The lady wasn't rude but insisted that I give information before she would identify herself. This is completely wrong in these days. If saying she's a mental health provider is a problem she should just say it's United Healthcare. Then I would have spoken to her. After the experiences we've had and the stories we've heard there is NO WAY we give out any information on the phone unless we originate the call. Hope the read this and update their procedures. This stuff causes unnecessary stress particularly on people who are already having emotional issues. They should KNOW BETTER!!!!!

They are a legit health care assistance company.  I suspect they are associated with several different health insurance providers.  I have received many calls from them since my wife has become disabled.  They only call during normal business hours and always identify themselves before asking us to verify our identities.  They ask for the insureds' DOB and last 4 of their SS#.  They have helped us find services covered by our health care such as transportation and the installation of ramps and rails in our home.  I have never experienced anything like what others have described.

B***S***! IT IS A SCAM THEY CALLED MY HOME PHONE AND THEN WHEN I DID NOT PICK UP THEY CALLED MY CELL PHONE AND LEFT A MESSAGE SAYING THEY WERE LOOKING TO TALK TO SOME HISPANIC NAME. I CALLED THEM BACK AT THE NUMBER THEY LEFT AND THE PERSON WHO CALLED ME AND EVERYTIME I LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR THEM TO CALL ME BACK THEY DON'T CALL BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW HOW THEY GOT MY HOME AND CELL PHONE # WHEN THEY ARE CALLING FOR SOMEONE DIFFERENT AND I HAVE NO MENTAL TREATMENT SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE. I DEMANDED THEY CALL ME AND EXPLAIN HOW THEY GOT MY 2 NUMBERS. I THINK IT IS VERY TROUBLING THAT THEY GOT MY CELL PHONE #.

This number can't be legitimate. They called three times on one minute, and left no message at all.

The people calling at this number work for United Health Care Insurance company. Otherwise, known as United Behavioral Health. Unless you are with United Health Care, you should not receive a call unless you are with them. Insurance companies will ask for your name, address and date of birth, but NEVER your SSN.

If you receive a call from this number, it is legit. If you prefer calling them back, then ask for their 800 number and extention number. They call out of MN, which is there HQ office.

I just got a call - I think its legit. She knew what detox center I was in last week and was nothing but helpful and knew where I worked and what medical benefit plan I was authorized for that she was representing

2 calls from 763-367-9402 and 763-274-3899 within 5 minutes and does not leave a message of any kind

I received the same call. They asked for me by name. I said speaking. They started asking for my personal information and I said, "I'm sorry but I didn't catch which company you are from." They said, "To protect your privacy, we cannot provide that." It sounded like they were only protecting their privacy but asking me to spill ALL of my private personal information. If they have verification that the are talking to the patient, why do they need to verify personal information and sound like a scam before identifying who they are? "This is a scam," was my first thought when I had this conversation and before I could get a chance to google the number. I told her I was sick, low energy and I didn't have time to play this game. *Click* I hung up.

There has to be a better way. With identity theft being as rampant as it is and as expensive as it is to repair, people have a good reason to be protective (aka paranoid). It's bad business to operate this way.

"Lorraine" from UnitedHealth called from this number, and she was the most RUDE person I have dealt with in a long time.

It was my managed care representative for my insurance company following up on my request for some insurance extras.  I just called the phone number that they left and got through and told them that they should at least leave a hint but they said they can't because of personal information limits. They didn't even tell me to call back but after three of these calls, I decided to call back.

It is rather sad when the ethical people can't get through to us because there are so many creeps out there.

It is definitely UnitedHealthcare doing a follow-up. I just got off the phone with them, and they called back from the number of this thread. It was the same lady I was speaking to on the phone.

UNITED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, MOSTLY FOLLOW UP OPEN CASES AND NEED INFO THAT IS NOT GATHER FROM DRS OFFICE. IF YOU GET A CALL FROM THEM, REFER THEM BACK TO YOUR DR. I WORK FOR A MAJOR HOSPITAL IN CA, I DEAL WITH THESE KIND OF ISSUES ALL THE TIME.

No, not a scam, and I've gotten a couple of  calls from them, but in my case, it was simply a wrong number.  They left messages, stating they wanted to set up an appt for a client re: mental health issues.  They didn't leave much info, but I know due to HIPPA they can't, so I simply called them back, and let them know they had dialed incorrectly, so they wouldn't be waiting for someone to call them back, and it never coming.

And for all those who think it is a scam; HIPPA laws are very strict; its probalby a case of a mis-dialed number, but when you call back, they don't know whether or not you are actually a subscriber or not, which is why they have to verify by asking for your personal info. I can see how people would be reluctatnt to give it out, I know I would be, but they also can't divuldge any info as to why THEY called without verifying who you are, and why you're calling.

This number continually rings into our web business at http://microscriber.com. We've set up our system to route that number to a voicemail extension we don't use. They too stated they were from United Healthcare. The callers behaviors are unbecoming.

This was a follow-up call from the Work-Life Services group used by my health insurance company. I had called in the previous week to ask whether they offered career counseling services, and they said they would look into availability and get back to me today. And that's what they did.
