Received a call at 4 PM, June 15. No idea who they are. No message. If you Google Southern States the first hit is a coop, but not a clue why they would be calling.

If you call the number back, a recording (a very cheap sounding recording) tells you to call again later.

Caller calls but does not leave a message. I have received a similar call from similar phone number, but the area code was different. It was a 205 area code.

Husband answered and they asked for me. He told them I wasnt home and they just hung up.  Time for someone to put a stop to these calls.  If we wanted to donate something we would call them.

They usually call daily around 6:30 pm (CST).  We never answer but I decided to Google the number and I found these posts.  
2 years ago my wife gave a donation to their local association.  That explains it!

They call here repeatedly and have for a long time. They are the "Police Benevolent Association". There is a link on their website to supposedly remove one's number from their list:

This is really weird.  My situation is same as all of the above.  They always call at odd hours during the day....you can't get a live person if you call back.   But we're sick and tired of their calls.  

I recommend everyone try to get in touch with the FCC and complain that they are being harrassed by this number,  it is a nationwide issue (refer them to this site, if necessary)  and ask that the number be contacted,  warned,  and fined and/or shut down.

Have had this call several times, but no one there.

I have received calls from this # before...all info like the others...they don't leave messages.  They just called and I answered, Hello.  And, they said nothing.  I could hear a keyboard clicking in the background and then after 6 seconds, they hung up.  If they are police benevelence...then I will just ask them to take me off their list.

Recieved a call @10:50 am from 770-302-0870 I was on the other line and like others when I tried to call back I head "try your call again later" This in not the first time I have had this # pop up on my caller ID just the first time I desided to call back.

Same thing here - they call weekly & sometimes daily & I've told them over & over that we can't help & to top calling. We are on the Do Not Call List, but it looks like "charities" can call you & literally harass you. I'm tired of it!

same as everyone else, id shows as southern states but it is related to the police benevolent association site as mentioned above. i have received things in the mail and kw of a couple ways they could have gotten my # but their website has a do not call link under contact us- did mine today. we'll see if they call again.

A CALLER CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON 7/16/07,ASKING ME TO CHECK OUT THE SSPBA WEBSITE AND SEE WHY 50,000 LAW ENFORCEMENT AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES HAVE JOINED THEIR ORGINIZATION!

I just got a call from them...did not answer...they left no message on the machine.  And I AM on the do not call list so this is odd.

today is the first time they have ever called me. I am on the do not call list and there is no reason for a collections agency to be calling me. I didn't answer the phone b/c I was on the other line, but when I tried to call back the first and third time it was dead air and the second time it was one of those wierd computer voices saying call again later

I get at least 1 call a day.  No one knows how to stop these people?????

Man called at 12:00 noon today, I was on other line and put him on hold.  Tried to call back and all I get is his ans mach saying "call again later"
I do have a real estate sign with my number on it.  Maybe he's calling about that.
