Call was a recorded message from "The Carpet Cleaning Company"

We received a similar call with a message left on our answering machine from an automated recording.  When I tried to call the number back to get somebody to answer, a recording came on saying the number was not in service and to check the number and try again.
My next step will be to call the phone company and find out which "phone company" services this number and then find out how the number can be used as an outgoing number to telemarket but is not in service.
Does anybody else have any info on these folks?

My previous posting showed the incorrect phone number; the correct number that called me was 770-691-2589, not 770-261-2589.  sorry 'bout that.

I received a call from these Do Not Call violators on June 27, 2008 at 12:31 pm.  After pressing '1' to set up an appt, I told the female answering the phone, and who asked if I wanted to make an appointment, I missed the name of the company.  She said it was MARK's CARPET CLEANING.

I ten asked whythey were calling me when my number was on the Federal DO NOT CALL LIST.  She hung up her phone.
