My answering machine got the call before I did and they hung up. Annoying.

I picked it up and said "hello" but no one replied. When I dialled back to see who it was, I got a message saying, "the telephone number you have dialled is no longer in service."

This is the second day in a row that this number called my residence.

Same here. Hung up on machine. Found no listing.
