An Agent of this company came to my door around 2:00 AM and knocked awaking my kids and wife. I grabed my gun and put clothes on, but by the time I got to the door, he had gotten into his truck and left. I'm pretty sure they are looking for my vehicle.

As soon as I catch this guy on my front porch or on my property late at night I am going to shoot him in the leg ( or somewhere in the lower body), then call the police to file what I assume to be a possible burgler repor

Same as others.  A bogus legal matter, a bogus court case, a bogus county, and a bogus docket or file number.

Do not get taken in by these scammers.  Their information is bogus.  They want your private information and your money.  They are not invesitgators, they are not from a collection agency, they are criminals.

I received voicemail at home Wednesday, 3/11/2009.  The caller ID stated the call was received at 3:27 pm from 770-783-1139, Unknown Name.

“This is Investigator Jason Merato.
My service has been retained by the attorney to notify Jane Doe that there is a civil complaint along with a criminal attachment.
It’s being formalized through Fairfax County.
It’s pursuant to docket BOD 1828.
Now it has been mandated you do contact your chief investigator, 770-783-1139.
Now if you fail to do so, litigation will commence immediately.
Furthermore, your opportunity for a disposition hearing--where the attorneys actually meet to discuss your charges--to essentially get them removed--will be forfeited
At that time you will have to appear at Fairfax County court systems under your charges.
And it’s for Jane Doe under docket BOD 1828, slated for Fairfax County.”

It sounded fishy, but I left a voicemail that evening, stating this message was not for me, that I’d lived here for 3 ½ years, and they had the wrong number.  I said I worked for the military and provided by daytime number.

On Thursday, I got a second call on my voicemail at work on my government voicemail, sounded like the same person in the first phone call, but the caller gave a different name.  The message had background noises, as if the call originated in some sort of office.

770-783-1139, Thursday, 1118 am

“Hi Miss Doe, this is James Conlin, director of operations over here.
I received your voicemail—I just got in from court here--basically, the reason why my investigator had called you, is there is actually a summons going out to your address regarding Jane Doe.
If you can please give me a call back.  I just need to verify a few things with you.
If you‘re not implicated on the file at all, I will definitely remove your number and your address.
However, I do need you to contact me so I can discuss this with you
Number is 770-783-1139.
And the docket number is BOD1828.
Thank you”

I googled the phone number and there have been similar comments since November.  The comments sound as if get information from their targets, and say they are collecting on a debt or need some kind of payment to settle things out of court.  The phone call is supposed to be a Vila Rica Georgia landline.  There is no Fairfax County in Georgia, and no summons came to my address…

On 10/26/09, 7:22 PM, I received a third call—caller ID stated “Unknown,” phone number was 716-213-4578.  www.whitepages.com states it is a landline from Tonawanda, NY, but it could be anyone/anywhere, due to today’s technology.  The person asked for “Jane Doe” (unknown first name, our last name).  I said there was no one at this number.  He asked if I knew how Jane Doe could be reached.  I stated that there was no one with that name at this number, and the last person who called for that name was perpetuating a fraud, so I suggest he get money from someone else.  He started to laugh, but I cut him off by hanging up.

These are fraudulent calls, not bill collectors.  Don’t give them any information—they will turn around use that info against you, and say you owe someone, or you’re need to pay some money to keep out of jail, or something.

I got a call from this number and spoke with an investigator, "Rosedell." (sp?)He told me I was being sued by an attorney in my area. I stopped paying on a credit card two or three years ago. They had my social security number and past addresses. I don't want any trouble, I certainly do not want any damage on my credit.

I received a call from what was supposedly an attorney's office looking for my daughter in another state.  They said it was regarding a criminal and civil suit and gave a docket #.  They could not pronounce the county in CO.  When I asked questions they hung up on me.  When my daughter called they threatened to call Social Services and have her kids taken away if she did not pay $5000.  She Googled the number while on the phone with them and read the "Scam" reports from other consumers.  I have an unlisted landline number.  They also said they had purchased the "case" from the county.  She checked with the county and no such case.

I just received a call from this number looking for my daughter in another state.  They could not pronounce the county name and said it was regarding a civil and criminal suit against her.  When I asked questions they hung up.  When my daughter called the number they threatened to report her to Social Services and have her kids taken away if she did not pay the $5000 owed.  We reported it to the police in both states and will report to the DNC office.

Folks, this is a scam. The phone number supposed to be a Comcast landline in the Atlanta area.  The person who called me the legal problems was in Fairfax County, but there is no Fairfax County in Georga.  The man who called me gave a different name for each phone call.

If you read the internet postings, the people calling from this number are either posing as a debt collection agency or as a means to pay money to settle a court matter.  Other 770 phone numbers are being used by these scammers.

The Georgia Dept of Consumer Affairs and the Florida Attorney General are aware of the complaints.  If you have given any money or have been threatened, please file a police comlaint before other folks are taken.

The FTC isn't very aggressive in enforcing DNC rules.  Because of the comments the caller made regarding weapons, I suggest you also file a complaint with your local police department, your state's attorney general and the FBI.

I also received this call. She claimed that she is a specialist investigator said someone had weapon, gun, etc.. I think we should 'file a complaint' in donotcall.gov. or send it to FTC.

and you will receive a confirmation message that...

YOUR COMPLAINT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED

Thank you for filing your complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry.

Do not call complaints will be entered into a secure online database available to civil and criminal law enforcement agencies. While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help the agency investigate the company, and could lead to law enforcement action.

This appears to be a scam of some sort. They claimed they needed to speak with me about a LEGAL MATTER, and told one of my family members that I would be arrested, if I did not call them within 24 hours.
