Just to let you all know, they do not pay their own bills with your money either - we did work for them back in 2011 and they have yet to pay us for that work.  So, your cash they have stolen is not going towards their operating expenses either!

these guys must have like 18 different names!  I kept getting a call from an unknown # with a recording for the past week, finally I called the number back- when they answer they say "legal dept" like they are all professional and transfer you.  The guy was a total dick- told me he was going to sue me take all my assets and he wouldn't shut up so I hung up the phone.  He called back I answered and said if he could be nicer I'd talk to him then he hung up on me!!  I freaked out bc I don't want to get sued!!  I called back and asked to speak to someone else- he played nice and tried to get me to pay via western union- got me a bit skeptical- then said he could take a check over the phone- which I was dumb enough to do!  Then I called my boyfriend and he screamed scam!!! so I called the bank stopped the check and froze my acct- and ran down to close it and start another-he yelled at me it freaked me out I almost got HAD!!  I'm waiting for them to call me again- that will be fun! I shouldve known a lawyer will not yell and hang up on you

They called and offered me dept collection services for my company.  They so far have collected aover $4000.00 of outstanding dept from former clients and have not paid me one dime. They continue to collect money, they keep the money and now they refuse to take my calls. From what I just found out: They collect money and NEVER forward the money to business owners. Looking to file a lawsuit. Please contact me if you have similar complaints.

RRI or whoever they are originally contacted me (first Patricia Johnson and then Thomas Graham) to offer to collect delinquent accounts for my bail bond business. I was told i'd get a statement quarterly along with the amount due in a check less their fee once i sent them documentation of the debts, contracts etc.. This service, they claimed to offer on contingency, which is where i was sold. After sending several accts in April 2011 i've since learned (from my customers themselves NOT from RRI)  many of my customers were harrassed and some eventually paid. I had to bring it up, in fact, i'm not sure RRI would have mentioned it if I didnt. That was the first red flag. Thomas Graham from Roberts and Roth who solicited me and  has been handling my accts has been stringing me along for months about money I KNOW they've collected from my clients. He's difficult to get on the phone, and full of crap, week after week. He's told me my check has left on three seperate occasions. They havent so much as emailed me a report as i've requested yet. He acts like he's got to get in touch with other people to send an email  or verify my check has been sent. And now i see he and this crew and their myriad of alias' are the subject of these ripoff report blogs. Did i mention the receptionist is a witch from hell. Where are these crooks located and how do we get them prosecuted? Call me. Im in NC. 919-624-9301

If you end up in collection because of fraud, you need to go and make a police report.  They are a collection agency and will only go by whos hired them.  Until it is vaildated in court or by police offical the debt stands.  My uncle went threw this with Sears.  Even reported to credit bureau of fraud.  The only way to stop it is to filed it in a legal compasity.  I understand there point in way, really ask your self do they really know who you are?   All though Sear conintued to go after him even with police report.

Thank you for the site to the FTC. I see your post was in '07. It's now '11 and RRI is up to their same abusive calls, threating statements, very rude attitudes and down right unprofessional behavior. My employer having received one of their calls the other day about a long (5 years or better) since "past due bill." These "false" invoices were being made by the business and my employer's now ex-wife. The business owner's wife would make up "fake" invoices to give to her friend, the ex-wife for cash. At the time my employer had figured this out, he asked to see the invoices and his signature had been forged on them. He tried explaining this to RRI and letting them know that it had been mentioned in their Divorce hearings and she was found to have forged his signature on several documents. RRI didn't care, that as of that day they were going to report it to the credit agency and hung up on him. My employer called him back to ask if he could see the copies of the invoices and (now, Paul Cook goes by) Paul Cooper, said he already mailed them back to his client. ?? OK, big red flag!! My employer asked his accountant to get in touch with them and ask for copies and RRI said they didn't have any. The accountant also contacted the business that filed the complaint and they can't or won't produce the "fake" invoices either. ?? I would think RRI would have done a little back ground checking into, before assuming the invoices to be legit after him mentioning forgery during a long divorce. This whole incident coming immediately after my employer's ex-wife's appeal was denied just weeks ago. (guess the friend still wants to help her out) Just this morning RRI called my employer again, Paul Cooper was saying how he had the invoices in front of him saying he owed! As my employer tried talking to Paul, Paul hung up. So I decided to give it a shot myself. I called RRI and was connected to Mr. Cooper and politely asked if he could please fax copies of the invoices he had in front of him. He said, "I've bent over backwards for you people and you can take a flying leap!" and hung up on me. My employer has since sought legal assistance in this matter and still no invoices to be produced from the business or RRI as of yet!

Court Enters Final Order in FTC Action Against Florida Debt Collectors
A federal court has entered a final order against a Florida debt collection agency, its principals, and its attorney, settling a Federal Trade Commission action that alleged that the defendants violated the FTC Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) while collecting consumers? debts.
The FTC?s complaint alleged that the enterprise used misleading dunning letters and abusive telephone calls to falsely threaten that consumers would be sued, their property seized, and their wages garnished if they did not pay the money that the defendants said they owed. The complaint alleged that the collectors often shouted and used profanity and other abusive language to carry out their collections.
The stipulated final order, among other things, permanently bars the defendants from falsely representing the character, amount, or legal status of a consumer?s debt, that their collector is an attorney or represents an attorney, or that if the consumer does not pay, the defendants can or will file a lawsuit against the consumer. It also prohibits them from violating the FDCPA in any way, including by disclosing a consumer?s debts to any third parties, using profanity or other abusive language in collection calls, or by continuing to attempt to collect a debt before providing verification of the debt to consumers who properly request such verification. The settlement also requires the defendants to provide consumers with a toll-free number and mailing address to file complaints, promptly investigate each such complaint, and take steps to cease, resolve, and cure any violations of the court order or the FDCPA.
The defendants are Rawlins & Rivera, Inc. of Florida, Rawlins & Rivera, Inc. of Georgia, Ryan & Reed, Inc. of Florida, Ryan & Reed, Inc. of Georgia, RRI, Inc., the corporations? officers, Janis Brust, Joe L. Hunt, Sr., Joe L. Hunt, Jr., and a Florida lawyer, Robert W. Bird, whose letterhead was used for many of their collection letters. The settlement contains a monetary judgment of $3.4 million, which represents the total amount the defendants took in through their allegedly improper debt collection activities. The settlement requires the defendants to sell property and transfer the proceeds of the sale to the FTC. The remainder of the $3.4 million will be suspended based upon the defendants? inability to pay.
The Commission vote to authorize staff to file the stipulated final order was 5-0. The order was entered by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division, on January 14, 2008, along with an order dismissing Shannon Hunt from the complaint.
NOTE: Stipulated final orders are for settlement purposes only and do not constitute an admission by the defendant of a law violation. A stipulated final order requires approval by the court and has the force of law when signed by the judge.

THESE PEOPLE FROM RRI(MARK REYES & AL REED) HAD THE NERVE TO THREATEN MY GRANDPARENTS WITH SEIZURE AND ARREST USING VERY FOUL AND PROFANE LANGUAGE. MY GRANDMOTHER IS A CATHOCISM TEACHER, MY GRANDFATHER IS IN HIS DEATH BED, AND THEY ARE BOTH IN THEIR 80'S. THEY HAVE EXCELLENT CREDIT AND THIS ACCOUNT WASN'T EVEN 3 MONTHS OLD AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE WENT TO COLLECTIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE COMPANY THAT REFERRED THE ACCOUNT TO  THIS COLLECTION AGENCY HAVE RESCINDED THIS ACCOUNT FROM THIS AGENCY AND CONTACTED THEM BY PHONE, EMAIL, AND FAX TO STOP ALL COLLECTION ACTIVITY REGUARDING THIS ACCOUNT, BUT THEY HAVE NOT. ALSO THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY THE BILL NEVER EVEN RECEIVED THE BILL IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY TOO HAVE CONTACTED THE AMBULANCE COMPANY AND THE COLLECTION AGENCY TO PUT AN END THIS MATTER. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE FINED, JAILED, AND SHUT DOWN. IF ANY PERSON OUT THERE WERE TO USE THESE TYPES OF TACTICS TO COLLECT MONEY OWED TO THEM THEY COULD BE THROWN IN JAIL FOR TERRORIST THREATS, EASILY. I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN TO FRIENDS OF MINE. WHAT GIVES? HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS?

I also started with them in Feb. 09. I later found out they play games and are not an professional collection agency. Everything is top secret - like what does RRI stand for - and where are they located??  several areas of Florida have appeared on my caller ID.  My initial contact was with a lady in Atlanta - Robert Bird claims he is their attorney but I later found out he is part owner of the company.  If you call their different numbers that are supposed to be located in different places the same girl answers - so I believe they are all in the same office pretending to be in different places!!!  How ridiculous - it all makes them look very shady and underhanded.

Recived a VERY rude call from a "Mr. Tanner" representing the legal department of ???? .  I called back the number they gave me and the receptionist answered "profession services".  I asked for Mr. Tanner ... when he answered I immiedately asked for his first name (Mike).  When I asked what he was calling about he told me it was concerning a past due amount of a gym that i was a member of a year and half ago and we needed to resolve the outstanding leagal issues. After i stopped laughing (this apparently upset the young man) I advised him that any legal issue whether personal or proffessional would have been directed to my attorney and that obviously he was a bill collector ( and not a very good one) This is a shady collection agency that absolutley cracks me up with their tactics.
