I was verifying "signed documents" online for Amica Insurance. This number called automatically and I was to punch in the code on the screen to verify my signature. It is a contracted company for verification.

This is a legitimate call. You should not post false information that may mislead others.

This number is used by several financial institutions to counteract fraud.  Usually it is used to verify a password change for example. NS&I in the UK use this as standard.

If they phoned you unexpectedly then someone was trying to access your account and you really do want to know about that.

This was a legit call for security confirmations. If you get this call and you or someone you know did not initial a security check, someone probably got the wrong number. Just ignore it.

This is from a security confirmation number.  It's an auto call to give a security code for banking online or from cell phones. If you received this call, you or someone has tried to confirm a passcode entry to online banking by asking for a security code to be sent by phone to confirm online..

This company called me at 12:25am when I was asleep.  If this was a legitimate company, the would have called during business hours and not when I was asleep.  I never ordered anything to be confirmed.  I called the number back blocking my number and they wanted me to leave my number and name.  No, it doesn't work like that.  You called me and you leave a message not the other way around.  Stop this number from calling people that are asleep.  ANNOYING!!!

BEWARE! Received call from this number at 1:00 AM in the morning.  Message said it was a call from Fifth Third Bank and to press # if I was expecting the call.  Since I wasn't expecting any calls, I didn't.  Called Fifth Third next day, they indicted this number is used in a phishing scheme to try and gather information from people.

It's a legitimate call. I was setting up my business to be on Yelp and received a call from this number to enter the code shown on the screen for business verification. I okayed the call before it was dialed, knowing it would be an automated call asking for me to enter the 4-digit number,

The call I received from this # was related to a Docusign verification for Amica insurance. It was expected and prompted by my work on some documents, so obviously not spam in this case.

This company also does authentication for Geotrust/RapidSSL web server security certificates... and it's a great scam they're running on their customers:

Your customers give you a phone number, we call it, and they prove... well, nothing at all, really.

CLARIFICATION/RETRACTION/EXPLANATION: My spouse called me and asked if I had received a call last night. Apparently my spouse went wireless in another state to their financial institution which had a home and work number to call to verify authenticity of their online inquiry about account balance or whatever. My spouse then didn't feel good about going that route and dropped the phone call thing or whatever.

I told my spouse that next time please call me to avoid having this happen again (searching for the number and then blogging the weird incident).

Sorry for any confusion.

I had gone out to a big red DVD rental machine late last evening around 930PM at a popular all night savings place (names of companies omitted).
We were watching a movie and finishing up near the end of it when @around 12:15AM, we notice the answering machine is going off (we have each phone set for night mode so they (if located in our rooms) won't wake us up.
I pick up on a message that indicated that basically "This is you financial institution.....please press # or something to verify you were expecting this call." Well I call my financial institution, they indicate that it isn't affiliated with them. They would alert customers to look out for it and would apparently report the call. Note they did not say which financial institution they were with.

The last crazy thing that didn't get recorded (you see when we pick up, it disconnected the recording of the session) is that the automated caller said to return a call to a different area code than was identified on the caller ID.

Note I also posted several resumes today that included my home phone number at the top of it. If any of these are related to the call, only the FTC or FBI would be able to handle it investigation as I will assume they will.

In either case, we are on a do not call list and as such will be filing a claim with the Federal Trade Commission.
