I just received this hoax of a text message too from NationalCreditUnionAdministration. I feel like calling them, but then they will get my number, but then again they already have it lol. It is probably a recording anyways.

ACCOUNT CLOSURE/

I received a message Jan 19,2009 at about 6:30pm stating: YOUR LANGLEY FCU ACCOUNT IS CLOSED DUE TO UNUSUAL ACTIVITY, CALL US AT 1-773-256-9016. I have never had an account with this bank or any other dealings with this bank, it has to be a scam.

subject: account closure
your pscu account is closed due to unusual activity. call us now at 733-256-9016...I dont have any account of this type...its a fraud!!!

Got the following txt msg.  Glad to hear it's a scam but I'm still going to check my credit report

Of course I didn't give out my info, but I also wonder how they got my number??? I have Sprint.

Got a similar text today on my cell phone.  Same phone number but different organization: Frontier Financial Credit Union.  It even included a website in the address: www.frontierfcu.org.

Got a text message on my cell phone. It was the same as the others from NCUA telling me my account with them was closed due to unusual activity and to call 1-773-256-9387. Then when I did and they asked for my credit card or debit card numbers I knew then it was a scam. Don't fall for it!

I have no acct with NCUA!! This msg was texted to my cell.. Sbj: ear NCUA member your account with us is closed due to unusual activity, call us at 17732569387...  How the heck do they get our numbers anyhow?? aaron@1anehart.com was the sender...

Just Recieved a Call from 17732569387, anyone know who or where this is?  Looks supicious. Aks for credit card information and other personal data.  These people are ridiculous.

- My experience is that certain underworld entities will sometimes target specific individuals for these scams.
Possibly we all have a common thread?...

I just recieved the text from NCUA and figured I would check it out. Thanks for all the posts, I will pass this information on to my family and friends just in case.

I just got the same text message. I googled text messages from the NationalCreditUnionAdministration and what came up was a bunch of hoax reports. Please do not give out any of your personal information to these people.

T moblie here too      we are all getting them   it is a scam  I called t-moblie and your phone account info is secure.  and like everyone says...  don't bother calling the number and certainly don't enter any info.  T-Mobile said that if they get enough calls from customers, they will send out a warning text message

I received the same text a few minutes ago, total SCAM do not call or give the any of your information!

I just received a message on 01/03/2009 at 11:46 AM Mountain Standard time from this number about 15 minutes ago:

"Dear NCUA member, your account with us is closed due to unusual activity, call us at 17732569387"

The text message is in the form of a picture, or some sort of slide.  The text came from this address: NationalCreditUnionAdministration@ATMAIL13.tmomail.net

I called this number, and an automated system asked me for my 16 digit credit card number. I am on a pre-paid Alltel phone and have never used my credit card information for payments.  Furthermore, my phone isn't deactivated! This is an obvious scam. Do NOT give ANY information to these numbers.

the website attatched to the text I have recieved is bsa-brmc.org, but the notification was supposedly about my nonexistant NCUA (National Credit Union Association) account.  This as well is quite stupid, because the bsa-brmc is the Boy Scouts of America Blue Ridge Mountains Council. I can't seem to forge any convincing explanations as to the affiliation of the two, other than the probable truth of a fraudulent notification.
